My $1.2B figure comes straight from an article out of NBC News in Jacksonville but what’s a few $ million between friends. 😉

Either $1.2 or $1.4B. Your original post, you typed $1.2 million by mistake. I had to look to see what could they get for a million dollars.

Wasn’t sure whether to put this in the stadium construction thread or here but since it’s about financing I chose this thread.

Jacksinville’s upgrade/makeover is budgeted at $1.2 million and is a 50/50 split between the Jaguars and the City…. not the State of Florida. They also report the public funding piece to be investment, not a cost, (typical) as the newly envisioned stadium is forecasted to bring in billions over  the course of the 30 year lease.

    So there’s that.

The projected cost is $1.4 Billion.

Josh isn't in the top two in the league? Um, OK, I guess. I think he is. If he isn't, he's damn close.

And while I'm as sure as you are that fans will be talking about trading up to draft WRs again, any but a small tradeup was a ridiculous idea this year and will almost certainly be equally so next. Yes, fans talk, and Allen fans constantly talk about receivers. Doesn't mean it makes sense. Beane made it clear that he didn't even make calls about those top three, but on the boards they were close to a majority preference. People will prefer shiny baubles, doesn't mean they're a good idea.

The bottom line is that what Josh Allen needs is not a great WR room. It's a great team. If more and better WRs are a part of that, wonderful. But history shows very very clearly that you don't need a terrific WR room to win Super Bowls. Yes, the Chiefs didn't have a great WR room, but that's not a wild exception. A large majority of SB winners compensate for a WR room that's solid with an excellent QB and a really good roster, including the defensive side. And in the past two decades or so, a very good TE on top of the WRs, and often good receiving backs as well. Both of which we appear to have.

Josh proved he does not need a great WR room last year.

From November 1st through the playoffs (9 games, Bills went 7 - 2), Davis had 14 catches. 6 in the PHL game, so 8 catches in the other 8 games.

Diggs in my opinion gave up on the team. I have never seen a receiver go in for one play then raise his hand to go out as many times as Diggs did at the end of the year.  He sure appeared to not give a sh*t.

This makes me hope our season opener is on the road, and east coast.  Knock out 2 road games and a Thursday night game early while everyone is fresh.  Then the Bills have extra rest for week 3.

I disagree. I do not want a road Thursday night game after a road Sunday game.

He was Joe Burrows OC at LSU, also had a year as Panthers OC so the pipeline continues

He's a smart dude tho, should be interesting how he does

The question is - does Josh respect Joe Brady and will he learn/ listen?

I believe the Bills need a high powered, proven OC who can manage Josh. This job opening if there is one at the end of the year, will be a coveted one. Many high end OCs will believe they can fix Josh and/or put him in a position to excel. The "new" head coach will have options.

Yeah.  The coaching staff may well have some insurmountable limitations, but poor player execution is the demonstrable cause of many of our offensive woes, and most of those errors don't appear to be due to design complexity or anything unusual or novel at the NFL level.

Like okay, replace the coaches-- is that going to solve our ability to read the defense, catch the ball, hang onto the ball, or finish tackles?

Agreed but I think it goes deeper. There is a rather simplistic saying related to elementary school teachers - "If the students aren't learning, the teacher isn't teaching".

It seems the players are not learning what the coaches are trying to teach.

  7. Four days until I fly in. Getting pumped. This is the first time in Europe for my wife and me.

Tourist stuff Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We got a 3 day all-inclusive pass to see many of the sites.

NFL experience Saturday afternoon and then get to one of the designated pubs for dinner and festivities.

    Game on Sunday.

    Paris Monday afternoon until Wednesday.

Looking forward to meeting many of you. Thank you to the British guys for all the tips. I have picked up a lot of information from this thread.

Prices are definitely up from what they were before the pandemic but I had no problem getting either my flights or hotel reserved.

We also booked our flights and hotel room a couple weeks ago. Yesterday we "panicked" and bought tickets. Did not want to get to London without tickets.  Got section 318 (50 yd line) Premium tickets which include food and beverages. Depending on exchange rate it will be about $670 each.

We used American Express concierge to get tickets at what is supposed to be actual face value.

We figured it is a one time adventure. Based on feedback from this thread we are spending 5 days in London and 3 days in Paris.

Although I have been to London hundreds of time and stayed there often, I live on the south coast (Sussex) which is around 90mins away by train. I'm sure there will be others reading this thread living closer who will be better placed to advise on accomodation in London, but there are so many options - it really depends on your budget and how you want to get around. You can save a lot of money by being prepared to travel in and out of the tourist areas each day, though.

Public transport in London is excellent and relatively cheap if you tap in and out with a bank card (there is a daily price cap), so even if you take a cheaper accommodation option away from the centre you shouldn't be more than a short tube ride away from the sights. The Tottenham stadium is north of central London, but I wouldn't recommend staying in that area as it's not a very nice part of town. It's easily reached from central London though, there are a few closer stations but these get very busy and most people choose to walk the 30mins from Seven Sisters on matchdays.  I'll obviously be checking this thread regularly, hopefully I'll get a ticket for the game (that won't be easy) so if you don't get any better answers than mine I'll do my best to help.

Thank you. I have already put my name on the ticket list from the stadium. which I think uses Ticketmaster. They are supposed to email with details

If you’ve never been, I highly recommend staying an extra couple of days and taking the bullet train to Paris and back. It’s CHEAP, and the two hour ride is incredibly relaxing. The Eurostar leaves from London about every hour. If you’re traveling with a significant other you are going to score points that’ll last you a lifetime once she steps foot onto the streets of Paris.

Sounds like a real good idea. I am retired so time is not an issue.

When we go to London our train arrives at King Cross (joined onto St Pancras) and we tend to stay in hotels not far from there.

Gunner is probably better placed to advise on places to stay with him being from down there but the transport in London is so extensive and easy you really can't go wrong in terms of location.

Thank you and also SoCal Deek.

To be fair, Palace are quite forgettable (although I would say that, as a Brighton fan 😁). If the Bills trip to London coincides with a home game for Brighton then I'll be only too happy to advise on ticketing/travel. Depending on where you start from in London, you can get to The Amex in around an hour and a quarter by train. Brighton is a good option if you fancy seeing somewhere a bit 'different', and match tickets aren't completely unobtainable in the same way as the top London clubs.

Roadrunner - I apologize for butting in. I plan to go to the game. Can you advise what part of London to stay if I would like to see the tourist sites as well as the game? Our plan is to be in London for about a week. probably the weekend focused on the Bills (Bills backer bars or whatever on Saturday and game on Sunday) and 4 or 5 days for tourist stuff.

    Thank you in advance.

There's questions there based on his performance last year.

The Bills finished second in the ESPN total offense stats. The Bills could have finished first, so I guess there should be questions.

Obviously. I do not know how to post the link.

    lastly Confused:

Jets — You just got Rogers and you know it’s a 2 year window and yet you still don’t draft a WR for the guy? Instead you get another D lineman.. makes little sense.. Rogers is older he needs playmakers around him. (Imagine if Seattle had gotten Rogers instead.)

let me know who your thoughts are :)

What if the Jets trade for DHop?

  14. I doubt Dorsey is holding back. BUT is it possible with all that has gone on over the past couple months progress has stagnated? Implementing new plays, formations etc have been limited? The Bills have been a bit sloppy lately, My opinion is we will see a more effective, efficient team this week and it will continue to get better each week in the playoffs. If God willing, no distractions.

You tell me. Do you think they should throw them at the opposition's bench while the coaches are trying to do their job and coach a game?

No. You said you were not against throwing snowballs. We can agree, they should not throw snowballs at the players. Hard for anyone with half a brain to rationalize that. But, I and many others also do not want to get hit by snowballs while trying to watch a football game. I think they should not be throwing snowballs at all. The police should have thrown people out. I realize they cannot catch them all but throw a few out, the BS would stop.

So again, the question is, Where do you think they should throw the snowballs since you seem to think it is ok to throw snowballs if not at the opposing team bench?

I am not against throwing (not iceballs of course) snowballs, whatsoever. just no need to throw them at the oppositions bench. I'm sure your kids and even parents have done it every winter, I know I did and it was fun. if someone had thrown one in your parents or even kids face, yeah, not cool.

Where do you suggest they throw the snowballs?

Brentwood has some really beautiful and wealthy areas. Lots of rich (a good thing) and famous (not for me, thanks) people live there. The only downside is I think old Rex Ryan lives there.
