  1. It is clear that what EJ's tender psyche needs most is to be thrown in for a thrashing against the Packers. "It will be good for his development".

Don't know how many times you've met him (I'm thinking you haven't) but if there is one thing fans don't have to worry about with EJ it's him having a tender psyche.

But your straw man game is strong, I'll give you that much.

  2. Disagree. Keep EJ on the bench and let him compete in the off season. This is Orton's show at the moment and it doesn't do EJ any good to have to come in only to be ridiculed if he doesn't immediately rally them to three wins in a row. And I certainly don't want him playing in a "run for the bus" game, either. He needs to play meaningful games surrounded by teammates with meaningful expectations.

    GO BILLS!!!

Hadn't looked at it that way; strong post.

  3. NFL officiating is absolutely terrible. I don't think the fix is in, I think it's simple incompetence.

Made up my mind after yesterday's Bills game: I'll watch the Super Bowl because the party I go to is awesome, but otherwise, if the Bills aren't playing, I won't sit and watch an NFL game.

I still don't know who won the Bolts-Pats game. And honestly, I don't really care.

  4. If AJ Hawk growls really loudly when Orton breaks the huddle, he'll probably get Orton to turn his back to the OL and wait to be sacked before the ball's even snapped.

I'd much rather watch a young guy struggle than a 10-year vet puke on himself all day.

  5. Why one sucks and one sucks worse (EJ) and will never amount to anything (EJ). I presume you think starting EJ must = it gives him some chance to redeem himself?

Despite not even having played a full season (14 games), EJ has similar career stats (completion %, TD:INT ratio, average yds per attempt, etc). He does have something Orton doesn't: potential.

If you fail to acknowledge that, you probably have issues that cannot be adequately addressed on a message board.

  6. Seriously can he play or what. They are letting him talk about it and not giving their side. Annoying as all hell.

@mikerodak: Mike Williams sarcastically aims to be the Bills' best scout team player:

    http://m.espn.go.com...co/jsLKexcNy9"}

    Rodak is his BFF

@mikerodak: Mike Williams "I'm still that guy who can score in the RZ any time I want. It's just other people gotta see it. If they don't somebody will"

It's a mystery why he's not playing and I don't get it either but it's not like they owe us some sort of explanation.

Think about this potential scenario: Coaches come out and say Williams still cannot grasp the offense and therefore imply he's not too bright. What would that do to potential trade value?

  7. Shouldn't all Bills fans be EJ fans since he's on the team?

I don't really understand the hate for a Bills draft pick who is in his second season. Some people on this board need to take constant shots at the kid. It's strange.

    You spelled "stupid" wrong.

  8. Kemp posted this in the Shout Box.

What does this mean entirely? Would we rush him back to the lineup this week when we may need him most and use him sparingly week 15 against GB? We can let him stay home and heal week 16.

He isn't eligible to return until Week 16 at Oakland due to the IR designation rules per the Chris Brown story linked to above by 26CB.

  9. Go watch the replay. He wasn't bating the QB on a 40 yard pass already in the air. He should have seen that AW wasn't there over the top.

Haven't you ever heard players and coaches saying the primary thing a defensive player has to do is worry about his own assignment and trust his teammates will be where they're supposed to be?

But I get it, Gilmore sucks. Even when he doesn't.

  10. The game calling of Spero Dedes and Solomon Wolcotts was (as usual) so bad on Monday night that I thought about it and came up with an explanation: they were watching a different game on their monitors than the one we saw. Maybe they watched the Bizzaro Bills against the Bizzaro Jets.

    Some examples:

    • Bills runner loses the ball, the ref signals down-by-contact, and these geniuses say "It looks like the Jets have recovered the fumble but there's no indication from the official yet.
    • "Aaron Williams made the first interception of his career." (Unless you count the one against the Jets only 4 weeks ago)
    • "The Jets will return home after the game and hope that their stadium is ready for their game against Cleveland"
    • "Doug Marrone sends in his punt team." (It was the FG unit, we were on the Jets 35 yard line in an indoor game...)

    Any others?

One of the benefits of watching games with the Bills Backers of Virginia is that it's so loud we can't hear the announcers.

  11. <snip>

Here is what I know. Under Marrone the Bills are competing in every game. Under Marrone the D has been top notch. Under Marrone the Bills haven't dropped a wtf game (Oak-KC, DEN-STL, etc..). Under Marrone you can see the team playing with toughness, they aren't getting beat up every week. I can't believe, after 14 years of terrible football, everyone wants to move on from the first guy who has brought them back to respectability - after less than 2 years!!!

    You won the internet today.

  12. the Cleveland game will NOT be played at the ralph.

again, there will be no security and limited dump trucks to remove snow from the ralph until all streets have been cleared.

The Bills are responsible for snow removal and could hire dump trucks; the county wouldn't be involved at all.

Not living up there anymore, I am basing this opinion on the pictures, news reports, forecast, and resilience of WNYers: I don't believe that, from an emergency response standpoint, the county would have a reason to withhold sheriff's deputies from a Bills game nine days from now.

I don't want to issue any proclamations, but I will be very surprised if they don't play the browns at the RWS.

  13. Find it kind of amusing that pretty much no mention of Toronto being a possibility. I'm sure the Bills said they don't want to open up that can of worms again.

This will create job opportunities for one group of people,

Washed up comedians can resurrect all of their 1977 Buffalo snow storm jokes again.

All of the Toronto Series and JBJ stuff aside, Rogers Centre already pulled their football turf up. Also, consider the passport issues for players, coaches, and staff that the Jets (much less new/rookie Bills) would only have a couple of days to resolve.

  14. Never seen such blind devotion in my life to a mediocre journeyman qb who won 3 games by the skin of his teeth as bills fans to King Orton. I hope you are all FINALLY ready to admit that he was put in by a coaching staff desperate to save their own jobs at the expense of the future growth of this franchise.

Nobody is a bigger EJ fan or Orton realist than me. But I think they were looking for a spark, not to save their jobs.

As for Orton, he won and had a couple of good games. I thought some posters went a bit overboard on Orton and ignored that he already defined the type of player he is over the past decade, but the guy did make some plays and it was fun.

I'm okay with him finishing the season (barring further regression in his play) so EJ can continue to observe and learn from him. After all, regardless of whether a fan loves or hates EJ, it's in the the team's best interest if EJ learns from Orton and then blows him away in camp next year.

  15. Funny how things don't seem to change. That was Jimmy Johnson discussing the Bills in one of their Super Bowl appearances. How embarrassing to be called out in a critique of a fundamental aspect of your organization. The sad thing is, we have seen this all too often with Marrone's teams. Last year it was Stevie Johnson and Scott Chandler. Now it's McKelvin and Brown. At some point in time you, as coach, have to wake up and teach and practice ball security. I shudder to think what a real coach; i.e Lombardi, Paul Brown, Lou Saban, would say about Marrone and his clueless understanding of fundamentals. I guess they don't have those issues with .500 teams at Syracuse?

How do you know they haven't worked on it?

I can promise you that Marrone, a guy who has spent every fall since he was a kid on a football field, knows a little something about fundamentals.

I do agree that Lombardi, Brown, and Saban would shake their heads at this year's Bills - just as they would with 31 other NFL teams. That's because the CBA limits camp so much they can't spend a lot of time on fundamentals.

But if you know fundamentals as a fan, shouldn't a player who is being paid be expected to have picked them up somewhere in, I dunno... High school? College? Pop Warner?

  16. You cheered on Kelly i suppose?

Care to recall how he felt about Buffalo before he came here?

Just a joke thing to say.

I would take Brady and a SB win any day. End the misery.

    Apples and oranges, isn't it?

One guy said unflattering things and signed for more money in a start-up league and the other said unflattering things and has whupped the Bills for over a decade.

That said, I'd take the trophy with Brady but it would be kind of bittersweet in a way.

  17. I think the Hoodie will be shopping Brady next year after they bomb out in the playoffs. Get something for him while he can, it's the Hoodie Way and the Way is all powerful.

So I expect the Bills to jump (like always) and give up 2 First Rounders and Sammy, pay Brady 100 Million Pegula Frac Bucks. Brady will then suck/Blesdoe out his remaining 2 years in Buffalo, injured or a statue in the pocket. His wife will hate Buffalo (no veggie chicken wings) and leave him, taking the kids to France. Brady will lose his mind and be seen pan handling on Chippewa. The Hoodie will parlay those draft choices into the next franchise QB and sign Gregor Clegan to team as a TE thus cementing another 15 years of Patriot dominance.

I'd consider giving up a couple of firsts and Sammy just to see that.
