I appreciate that characterization, Doc. The reason I didn't elaborate further was I didn't think this was the thread for that. Rather, I felt it more appropriate to simply mention that I prayed for his soul, and that he died as more than what I had learned him to be; and then a brief bit more when engaged. Others want to use this as a remembrance thread, and I respect that. Hence why I haven't engaged with those whom took issue with what I wrote. There are plenty of other threads for that.

Are you saying that bad court decisions haven't been happening since the founding? Bad judges will sometimes make bad rulings, which is why we have the appeal system, Joe; and ultimately why we have the SCOTUS. So, yes: the system is designed to deal with this, and no: an autocratic dictator is not a better solution.

My daughter and her friend got back from France a week ago (they went to see the WWII invasion and reclamation sites). The left early after being accosted and pulled from a cab. (thank God for my daughter's friend being what he is). Everything could have been much much worse. They left early and spent their trip in Dublin instead.
