  1. I've heard of Noraid, and the whole Ireland thing seems strange to me. Everybody over there is white, so how can Catholics tell Protestands from each other, and vice versa. BTW, I had an acquaintance from Ireland a few years back. She said that parts of Belfast are very nice, not all torn up like you see on television.
  2. Ha ha! I am going to send my cats to give you a good scratching for making fun of me
  3. I have a supervisor, who, to put it bluntly, has BAD BREATH FROM HELL. It's so bad that it sounds like a rat crawled in there and died. Is there anyway to tell her about it? I was thinking of sneaking a bottle of mouthwash in her mailbox, but that seems sneaky. Meanwhile, I'll just hold my breath . . . !
  4. There is a commercial on television in which a fantasy football player compares "our" J. P. Losman with someone named Stapler. Who was this guy and why the comparison?
  5. His father and I are separated. He doesn't get along with him at all.
  6. My son called me at work and asked me if he could have two "friends" in the house and since he has been fairly good lately, I said yes. Bad idea. I come home and the place is a mess -- soda cans and empty frozen pizza boxes all over. And then I go into the kitchen and someone had smashed a kiwi fruit on the wall. I asked my son who did it and he said he didn't know so I made him clean it up. Well, a couple days later I go into the downstairs powder room, close the door, and there is another smashed kiwi fruit behind the door. Ants were crawling over it and it had dried and was hard to get off. My son wasn't home and it was so nasty and disgusting I had to clean it up. I used a scrub brush and a lot of the paint came off and it looked like crap. My daughter, who is well-intentioned but sloppy, painted the bathroom, left a mess, and in the process broke the bathroom mirror, which has to be replaced. He wouldn't admit who did it but whoever did is demented. Why would anybody do this? His case manager is working on a residential placement for him because the school year is coming up and I dread it. Last year he was absent more than 20 times, would get up and leave school, curse at the teachers, etc. I can't stay home and babysit him. I don't know what's wrong with this damn kid. When I was growing up, I cut school a few times at Nardin Academy when I was a senior, (you know senioritis), but I would NEVER dream of walking out of class. I would get my @ss beat. And if I cursed at one of the nuns, I would not be writing this because my parents would have killed me. It's always something!
  7. What are the Philadelphia Eagles' chances of going to the Super Bowl again? Do you think T.O. will show up at camp? After the Super Bowl loss, he had alot of goodwill here, but now most people here think he's a jerk. P.S. Note, the Eagles are my SECOND favorite team, of course!
  8. They'd look a lot different without all those layers of make-up on (meeow!)
  9. I couldn't stand Sex and the City either. I thought those three be-atches were annoying and Sarah Jessica Barker is so ugly she should have worn a back over her head (Prada, of course) during the whole time (yes, I know it's mean, but she made excuses for her drunk-driving husband who killed two people in Ireland and got away with it).
  10. Waterboy was kind of funny, I like the part when Adam Sandler (or the coach) tells the kicker to think of someone he hates and he envisions the ball as a little Klansman -- that was hilarious!
  11. I'm sorry, CL, Ben is married and he and his wife are expecting a child. Arrgggh!
  12. Don't forget that weird little kid with the map on her body, she was an interesting character too.
  13. Since we're talking about everything besides football here, I'm just wonderng: did you ever like a movie that was critically panned and/or was a flop? Yes, I enjoyed "Catwoman." It was terrible, but entertaining, if that makes any sense. And I got to see my beloved Benjamin Bratt naked (just from the waist up, shucks!) Some very nice cameos of kitties, too. But I still wonder how you can fight crime in stillettos and skin-tight leather??? I also enjoyed "Waterworld," Kevin Costner's colossal flop. I think I was the only one in the theater for that one. Mariner Rules! And don't forget "Far and Away" with Tom and Nicole when they were an item. I am one "chick" that generally doesn't like chick movies, yet I enjoyed this one so much I bought it. It was a major flop and the critics hated it . . . but what do they know?
  14. Good for you! You're not missing much. I will keep mine, however, if only to get a glimpse of that gorgeous Benjamin Bratt.
  15. Desperate Housewives. I don't know why it's so popular.
  16. Hmmm . . . there is a great deal to dislike about the French, but I don't think you can dismiss all of them as being arrogant jerks. We don't like being referred to as "ugly americans," do we? The few French people I have met have been nice to me. My father was over in France and Germany after WWII -- he was part of the last generation of African Americans to serve in the segregated army. Well, he remembers that the French and Germans were very kind to the black G.I.'s. But maybe that's because they were occupied!
  17. Thanks for your nice thoughts and suggestions. Actually, he is acting a little better since the new case manager came out to talk to him. This guy is only 25, but he knows what he is doing. He told Isaiah that if he hears of any tantrums, throwing things, trouble with the law, etc., I am to call him, and he will start the paperwork for residential. I hope it doesn't come to that, but maybe he needs to learn a lesson. Of course, he thinks this guy is an a__ hole, but that's because he tells it like it is. Next year my son is going to h.s. and since he is an excellent athlete, I hope he can involved in some sports (he's good at basketball, but he's very short). I only know two of the kids he hangs around by sight, and these knuckleheads are his own age, but there must be some older kids involved because some dummy buys them cigarettes. I was laid off from my last job and found one working for the Department of Human Services. Really intense stuff -- 12 year old moms with 30 year old mothers who are soon to be grandmothers themselves, drug abuse, sexual assault, and the list goes on. I can't wait until September so's I can lose myself in football oblivion!
  18. Please remember me in your prayers. My aunt has bone cancer. I haven't seen her in awhile so we're not really close but she has always been nice to me and my kids. Unfortunately, it has spread through her body and the prognosis is not good (she had to have a blood transfusion -- I thought they only did that with bone cancer)? Also, I mentioned I am having trouble with my 14 year old. He is hanging around some nasty kids -- rude, disrespectful, smoking, etc. My son is no angel, of course, but they feed off each other's negative behavior. Awhile ago, for example, he told me he was building a fort in the wooded area behind our house. I thought it was good that they were doing something constructive, but as it turned out, they were stealing lumber from Home Depot (he claims he was only along for the ride, but you know how that goes). My husband and I wanted them to press charges, but they just made them reimburse them for the lumber. His behavior is bound to escalate and soon I won't be able to take it, and he will have to go to a RTF (residential treatment facility). He doesn't appreciate the fact that he has a nice home and two parents and a sister who care about him (even though my husbband and I are not together). So next time you see a kid acting out and wonder where their parents are, maybe they are like me and my husband, doing our best, and wondering where we went wrong.
  19. VA, the media is making it out that Terry has NO CHANCE of recovery, and the parents are some sort of "right to life nuts" -- I don't trust the media and I don't know if this is true. I was just thinking -- if I locked my cats in a closet and let them starve/dehydrate to death, and someone found out, there would be an outcry and I would be put in jail. But let a human being slowly starve and dehydrate to death, and the person who does it is a hero, and people make cruel jokes about this woman's condition. Also, if one of my children was in a similar situation and showed ANY signs of life, I would fight like a tigress to have that tube replaced. That piece of paper (marriage license) does not trump my responsibility as a parent.
  20. Beautiful post, my fellow cat lover! Although I am pro-life too, I have mixed feelings about the Schiavo case. However, I do think it is a crime to starve this woman to death. As a mother, if it was my child who showed ANY signs of life or awareness, I would be fighting tooth and nail to keep that tube attached. None of us really know Terry's condition, so it's hard to say how aware she is, but I do think it's cruel to call her a "vegetable," "broccoli," etc. As for the husband, he dishonored his wedding vows by cohabitating with and fathering children by another woman. If he wanted to do that, why didn't he just divorce Terri and let her parents take care of her? The judge in this case (I forget his name) is a Clinton appointee so I doubt very much if he will rule in the parents' favor.

  22. Seems like we haven't been on Monday Night Football in ages. When was the last time? When does the 2005-06 schedule come out anyway?
  23. From the Philadelphia police blotter for February 1st: "A manager at Victoria's Secret reported at 5:50 p.m. that 120 thongs were stolen from the store. The reported loss is $1,400." Either this person has alot of Valentine's Day presents to give or he has some kind of fetish . . .
