  1. Playoff teams, on the whole, beat good teams and bad teams to make the playoffs.
  2. What's their record against teams with winning records? No.
  3. 2-2 dropping 2 easy wins with that defense. With Orton, we probably open 4-0. Like I said, decline. We can easily stop the bleeding but guys like Hughes and Kyle aren't gonna still be on the roster if we return to a top 4 defense barring a miracle.
  4. Because we all know the defense is a simple scheme switch. Getting a QB has still been this teams main problem for years, and a high scoring offense doesn't mean it's not. If we trade for them, they don't have a choice. Ah yes, the rookie Tony Romo. Wait, are we back in 2004? I need to buy Amazon stock.
  5. Orton would've absolutely won 10+ in 2014 if EJ didn't dig him into a hole to start the year.
  6. So make the playoffs with TT then dump him in 2018 or 2019 for Brees/Rivers/??? is your plan?
  7. I read them and I agree. I weigh that against Tyrod's deficiencies and real QB is still a better option, IMO. Groy and Wood were almost interchangeable though, fair point. He is NOT good enough to make a SB run. TT will back us into the postseason at best, and then get boa constricted by the first real defense that actually schemes against him. It will be an agonizing death that we will die over 3 and 1/2 Q's.
  8. Yes, swap them out and no one would know the difference. Shaq is well on his way to multiple All-Pro considerations after his incredible rookie year! I'm not saying this team is bad. I'm saying this team is on the decline and has been since 2014. And that's why you make a run with a real QB now. Because we're an unlucky draft away from being back to the 6-10 at best cellar.
  9. Great. All last season we needed Mario's replacement, RT, Kyle's replacement, 2 safeties, another TE and WR. Did we get them? What happens the year after when Wood rand Incognito retires? Shove two new rookies there at best? We're getting worse. It's undeniable.
  10. For a first and second round pick? Why does anybody do anything John? Overrated, maybe. But it's still peaking. Hughes isn't a spring chicken. Kyle is on his way out. Gilmore's contract is up. Graham is on his way out. Then on offense Incognito, Wood, Woods. Do you think we'll draft enough players in the next draft or 2 that will play to these guy's levels? The answer is no. We are on the tail end of a talent peak. And we need to make a run. With all of our draft picks, the Bills will be a worse team in the next 2 seasons. We've reached the point in the talent pool where you start losing cheap drafted talent and guys get old.
  11. We don't need draft picks. This team is peaking in talent. We need a QB. Watson doesn't cost nearly as much against the cap. No way we can carry Romo's salary and TT's. But you get Watson, a 1st round talent, waiting in the wing for the future in the next year or 2 if Romo hangs them up that soon. Your plan is to stay the course and hope this team is all-around leagues better around TT next year. It won't be. We're peaking. The time is now. We won't get 21 guys at their positions who could win a SB with TT at the helm. It's a waste of time.
  12. He looked okay today. I'm not saying it's not risky. It is. But God damnit after 17 years, let's take some risks. Let's go for a guy with question marks who we KNOW can play at a high level. None of this 3rd or 4th best QB prospect developmental crap. It's just as low percentage and it's boring. Let's go for it all. The talent on this team isn't gonna get that much better. That and you know lots of defenses look way better playing with a lead. Let's grab the QB who can give us one. This roster, as is in 2016, is 12-4 at worst with a Romo at QB all year. It's a no brainer. Whaley loves risky but high potential moves. Now's not the time to get gun shy. It was the right move for a Denver team with a peaking talent level and it's the right move for us.
  13. Adams, Johnson and Fitzpatrick aren't going to be the difference between a Super Bowl or not. We've had this discussion before Kirby, and I know your goal is not to back into the postseason but to win a championship. And I'm sorry but Romo is the guy who can play at a high level 3-4 games to get us there and win it. Tyrod can play at a high level for maybe 1 of those games and then falls asleep for 3 Q's. It will never happen. He simply has proven he cannot string good games together. With that in mind, he's worth it. You have to take a shot at a franchise QB when it arises. Everyone said Peyton was one hit away from retirement when Denver paid him. Quite a bit. I said trade the 2018 first. Not 2017. We take Watson this year.
  14. Can you imagine EJ with Dak's OL and weapons? Being in Buffalo is so unfair!
  15. Enjoy 18 years and counting. Whaley will get it right in his next 7 years of employment, maybe.
  16. He's finally getting developed by a REAL coaching staff!
  17. 2018 first and 2017 second would lock up Romo, IMO.
  18. "When you look in [EJ's] eyes, you see a winner. He's just got the IT factor. Buy season's tickets and gear at buffalobills.com." - Doug Whaley
  19. Well ideally we could hang onto on our 2017 first and hope Watson falls there. Then trade the farm behind that pick for Romo. Maybe like a 2018 first and a 2017 3rd or 2nd?
  20. Trade for Romo, draft Watson and roll with Cardale. There's no downside.
  21. Maybe but it's irrelevant. He beat the Browns too. It doesn't matter.
  22. Disagree. A QB that can shred you does just as much for an OL as a mobile QB who can't throw.
  23. Better than holding your breath waiting for a pass over the middle. You might actually asphyxiate first.
