How can Bills fans stand to not watch the games? That's what it's all about. I mean it's one thing to read up and interact all week on the internet, but the climactic event is the game itself. I don't think I could root for and support a professional sports team if I couldn't participate somehow in what they're all about - playing a spectator sport. There's gotta be options out there to allow you to see the games?

From the NY Post - Bills got some good news when rookie receiver Roscoe Parrish returned to practice last week sans cast. The second-round pick out of Miami could make his return to the lineup as early as Oct. 16 against the Jets. Parrish, who was unstoppable during Buffalo's training camp, had wrist surgery on Aug. 12. He'll immediately slide right into the Bills' slot-receiver position, which he had all but locked up in camp before getting injured
I think it's funny that we're getting injury updates on our players from other towns newspapers. Didn't the local press notice Roscoe practicing with the team last week? Or didn't they think that was newsworthy, what with their bashing of One Bills Drive taking precedence.

I recommend that you try this place over Delilah's, but depends what kind of scene you want. Delilah's is more rowdy, which is good, but unless they've upgraded they don't have any TV's over like 13" (OK, maybe 20"). Lincoln Station has decent wings and a big screen, and plenty of Bills fans as mentioned. Also, they are only about two city blocks from each other, so you could sample both if you want.
I will most likely be at Lincoln Station this Sunday as I just moved and DirecTV hasn't set me up yet. Most of the guys I know are back in Buffalo this week for the game, but there should still be a good crowd there. I'll keep an out out for ya

Well then you're in luck, as most if not all reality shows are not shot in HD

What's so obvious about it? I haven't seen him do it in the NFL. Plenty of 1st round QB's had obvious talent but never made it in the NFL.
Not being a wiseass or nothing, but from what I've seen to this point I wouldn't bet the house he's guaranteed to develop into a quality NFL starter, but I'm sure hopeful he will.

Lower prices don't automatically mean higher volume. You are assuming that they would get a significant increase in subscribers with a bigger discount? I don't think so...at least not enough to cover the lost revenue from all current subscribers. Think about it; if they charged the $50 you suggest, they'd lose $79 on each subscriber who otherwise would pay $129. Then they have to make up all that revenue with new subscribers at the $50 rate. That means they'd need to have 79/50 = 158% more subscribers, just to break even. That ain't gonna happen even if you have naked female refs.
If people really want to watch hockey, the difference between $50 and $129 for the season isn't significant enough to affect their buying decision (yourself being Exhibit A). It's still not that much money to watch the entire season (and it's in line with the other sports). And casual fans who really don't care all that much one way or another aren't going to pay even the $50.
Hockey won't grow by trying to make it cheaper for people to pay attention. People have to love the game, and you can do that by improving the quality of the product on the ice.
You are assuming that all the current subscibers stay and pony up the $129. Not gonna happen, myself included. Just by gauging reaction from other boards that are current subscribers, they are not happy and not planning on staying. So now, just like the arenas, they've priced themselves out of the casual fan market. Had they given some significant price consideration, say $99, then at least they would've had a better chance at higher volume.

So what's the better business plan - market to a broader audience, "woo back" those fans they lost due to the year off and gain new customers through attractive pricing in addition to the die hards, or introduce a high price point to your core market and snub the potential broader audience that may be drawn in by a low price point? They need to grow the sport to see the profits needed to support their salary expectations, and the revenues would probably be better served both short and long term via a better PR campaign. Penny wise and pound foolish.

With a post title of "I have a confession to make" and an intro of "my wife's cousins wedding" I thought the post was going to be a lot better than that!!
"I was at my wife's cousins wedding, and at about 11 o'clock everyone was pretty drunk. I started dancing with the bride's mother, and...."
I think those usually start out with something like "I never thought something like this would happen to me..."

IDid your renewal notice mention anything about the NHL network? Comcast is supposed to be starting one for the States and I was wondering when it would start, whether DirecTV would carry it, and if it would basically be the same as the one in Canada. I've never seen the Canadian version, but if it's anywhere near the quality of the NFL network, I can't wait to see it.
Dave.
Nope, no mention of NHL Network. Basically just we'll be taking your money starting in October in four easy installments...

So after taking a year off, their marketing ploy is a whole $30 off the package price, or $129. That's still a pretty good value compared to the Ticket, as you get 1,100 games for that price. But it's disappointing because there were rumors circulating that it would be reduced to something like $50 for the season to try and woo back fans. And no mention of HD. Thanks for nothing Bettman

I was a little surprised to see on Inside the NFL last night that they unanimously picked the Bills over the Falcons this weekend.
-
This reminded me of something I've noticed so far this year - did I miss the memo on Shaud becoming our 3rd down back? Seems he's on the field a lot more than I expected to see him. I would think you'd rather have WM out there on 3rd down -gives a greater threat to the D so they must respect the run and he can catch the rock.
So, is this the role on this team now for Shaud, or is it a subtle message being sent by the coach?

Is that you MM?

I saw one report where he wasn't even limping after the game in the locker room, but then a report indicating a noticeable limp on Wednesday. What gives?

Great. It's scheduled to be on Fox-5 here in the DC Area. It says, either Falcons/Bills or Bucs/Packers. Now I have to Tivo two different channels to make sure I get it, because I won't be home until 4 PM that day.
GD broadcast rights; they won't show it on 721 because it's broadcasting locally. I hate when this happens. $@@!&&*(#@#$%&&^!
It's even worse if the game becomes a blowout and they switch to another game......
I need more Tivos......
You should be able to pull up your program guide and set it to see what's on your Fox station at 1:00 Sunday. It's supposed to lock in on what game they will be carrying - but I agree, if I were in your shoes I wouldn't take the chance either and would TiVo both!

Yup, Bill Parcells and his two Super Bowl rings means he is a kitty and has no clue what he is talking about.
Losers don't think about field position, and don't put their players in a position to succeed. 3 and 10 all the time and you will only get a first down 20% of the time.
Loser mentality.
That's why an effective play caller will mix it up more so you're not always in 2nd and 10. A lot more options and helps keep the D on their heels when you get at least a few yards on first. But to make a blanket statement that 2nd and 10 is a running down is akin to when teams run up the middle on 3rd and forever. You're giving up. Get some kahunas and show more aggression in your will to win and don't be so willing to roll over.
-
Only pussies think that way. It's a losers mentality. The vast majority of competitive men view 2nd and 10 as a passing play, irregardless if you ran or passed on first down. So you pick up a few yards on 2nd down, big deal, everyone and their brother now knows what's coming on 3rd down.
-
Since when does 2nd and 10 constitute an obvious running down? Defense should be expecting a pass, which should open up more running room for WM.
National TV "feed" for Bills @ OAK?

It's sad actually the lengths that I've gone to over the years to make sure I caught a game Not really an issue for me any more with the Ticket and TiVo, and I realize that is certainly not an option for everyone, but I just want all my Bills brothers to be able to enjoy the games by one means or another
