  1. Isn't it hard to call anyone brought in as a project a complete bust? I consider the answer to our prayers NFL ready players that down pan out a bust. Maybin was a reach, not a bust, based on what we have seen so far, but he is so young he easily has tons of opportunity ahead to prove himself.

What's worse - picking a "project" with the #11 overall pick in the draft, or said project flaming out in the NFL?

  2. Meredith was also at one point a first round pick in many pre-season mocks and was at a high conference school in the Southeast that Buddy scouted. He may not have been ready for the big time but he defintely has talent.

Meredith was given the exact same grade as Wood by Buchsbaum, and higher than Levitre. He was also the #6 ranked Tackle in his draft class. It's like adding another pick to last years class (Wood, Levitre, Meredith). Not your usual practice squad pickup - the kids got potential. Plus coming in when he did he was thrown into the fire - this offseason he's on the same learning curve as everyone else. Let 'em play and see what he's got.

  3. So who is this brilliant coach who is going to properly develop the O line players, set up line protections and teach these young players everything they will need to learn to become top players...oh right, the assistant line coach from KC who is now the Bills line coach.

Yea well, I'm not convinced this years O line will be any better then last years, but that's me.

Dead on. It's the same crew every year, preaching patience and the coaches know more than us. How's that worked out the last 10 years? And Maybin's already been demoted during OTA's ;) We won't hear from the patience is a virtue crowd in a few years once he's out of the league. They'll have moved on to their new pet.

  4. The old Falling back on the "they know more than you do" argument comes out. It must be that time of year when fans question the direction, only to be told they aren't in the NFL and know nothing.

Wonder if that sentiment will be echoed in November-December.

It's reserved for the mentally weak. Whoever uses it ought to be ashamed and embarrassed.

  5. There was never a clamor for pursuing Whitehurst here. That is just a figment of your imagination. Isn't it a little early to assess any player at this point? Players are playing in shorts during OTAs and trainng camp hasn't started yet. You are right that most analysts felt that Seattle paid way too much for the qb acquisition. Seattle believed that they had to add another qb to their roster because there was some concern about Hasselbeck's health and durability.

    +1

Most people were like Huh? Who? on the few threads that did pop up.

  6. Brown will sign his RFA tender of $3.619 million, and extension talks may begin down the line. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Saints' compensation hinges on the Donovan McNabb trade. If McNabb makes the Pro Bowl, or the Redskins win nine games or make the playoffs, the Eagles receive a third-round pick and the Saints get a fourth. If none of those happen, the Eagles will get the fourth-round pick and the Saints get the third-rounder.

Ha! Jared Gaither for a 2nd rounder, my ass! Well played Mr. Nix.

  7. Seeing as he wasn't active for any of the games in 2008 I'm not sure he was wrong.

Why not? Just because he didn't play? He was drafted in 2008, and on the roster, not the practice squad. Then he started in 2009. 2010 makes this his 3rd year in the league. Calling 2009 starts his rookie campaign is inaccurate, though I'm sure the owners would like to violate the CBA and call 2009 his rookie year.

  8. 100 better sub places? youre wrong and thats a stupid comment. There are better sub places for sure. But the fact of the matter is that you can get a damn good sub at a friggin grocery store which happens to be a well respected place for their quality etc. People who arent near one drive 45 mins to shop there (see DC area folks).

You dont like wegmans thats cool but you cant name 25 better sub shops i bet

Hi Danny. I must have more discerning taste. I wouldn't drive 45 mins for a sub from there. And I do like Wegmans, just saying in my opinion their tailgate type food is just average at best when compared to other options.

As for 25 better sub shops, any mom 'n pop shop in local neighborhoods are better, which would easily add up. JMO.

  9. To each their own. I've been to Wegman's plenty, and if that's gourmet then standards are pretty low. I mean it's OK, comletely average, but nothing to brag about. I'm not believing my ears when people rave about, for example, their subs?! Wow, Buffalo has a TON of great sub places, but Wegman's isn't in the top 100 IMHO. And it's not just the subs I'm talking about either - wings, pizza, etc. You can do better.
