I believe he's had both knees reconstructed and was always out of the lineup at Miami. Willis got his shot at Miami when Gore was hurt.

TE upgrades: Becht, Franks or Heath Miller?
Mark VI replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know D wag. I just read that information at ESPN. Maybe you can dig up their cap information and enlighten us. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor..._len&id=1996828 -
Still, it's not a pressing need in March. UFA Vet WR's are everywhere, looking for a team. Even well after the Draft. If Reed is seen as a bust ,then so is Aiken and any other WR on the roster beyond Moulds and Evans. I'd concentrate on other positional needs right now, where the quality is thin in numbers.

TE upgrades: Becht, Franks or Heath Miller?

Bubba Franks is a Transition Player with a 1 year qualifying offer of 2.1 Million. The Packers are trying to sign him up long term and can match anyones offer. I can't see TD killing the cap over Franks, so he's a non-factor. Look at the UFA list and think cheap. If the Bills believe their doctors and think Campbell and Euhus will be ready to go this summer, than someone like Cam Cleeland of the Rams makes more sense, or someone on that level. The Bills have too many other pressing needs to dump big $$ into a TE. That won't happen. -
They have already lost to both of those teams this year. Hopefully, they can pay them back.

Reggie Witherspoon has been a godsend for that program. Signing him to a long term deal after last season was sharp thinking. He raised this team out of the ashes to the top of the Mid American conference. Seems to be an excellent recruiter, from all reports I've read.

So whos TD's first signing going to be in FA?

What Effect Does the WNY Economic Climate Have?

I don't think a big $$ athlete will worry about the extra 2K he has to pay in property taxes when he can buy a 200K-300K house that would cost 3-4 times that in most other parts of the country. It's still cheap to live here, when everything is figured in. -
Anybody been to the Cowboys message boards?

Jaworski is inconsistent. He couldn't say enough positives about Losman when we drafted him 10 months ago. I DEFINITELY remember him saying he'd be starting by 2005. Now he's waxing nostalgic about Bledsoe ? Talk about playing to an audience. Oh well, there was lots of toxins in Lackawanna where he grew up. -

We don't know how JP will turn out and it's a legit concern. I have confidence in the Coaches to identify talent plus I'm very encouraged Losman is here putting in the time and working on his game in February ! Concerning a backup, ask yourself this. Mularkey was frustrated with the limited playbook he was forced to use with Drew, due to his lack of mobility and his inabilty to click on the short passing game. Now does one actually believe he would go out and grab another stone footed pocket passer after opening up the playbook with JP ? I may be dead wrong but don't you think TD will be giving a call to Jay Fiedler on Wednesday ? Or someone else, with MOBILITY, who can run most of the plays in the JP offense. Come on, folks. We're barking out names based on recognition. Most don't fit what Mularkey want in a backup QB. Also, Shane Matthews may not be an acceptable backup to some, point taken, but many here are already assuming he's not a possibility whatsover. The Bills are saying different. May be a smokescreen but I bet we know within a week.

Bucs prefer opposite approach to Bills at QB

Wait, are we talking about Bledsoe or Simms ? -

No kidding, Chuckie. Chris Simms sank like the Titanic in big games and fell out of the first round ( draft ) for that reason. -

Fast Ferry? Which one ? Is this about Rochesters' bustling flame population ? -

Nate Clements is going to have to REALLY
Mark VI replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The shutdown cover CB was negated by last seasons rules change. That eliminated the mugging that occured 5 yards after the line of scrimmage. NFL officials were throwing the flag quite freely on the CB's in 2004. People like Champ Bailey, Winfield etc. cashed in before the rules change. The Raiders were stupid to give Woodson the Franchise tag and were stung. Still, I can't see Clements expecting to cash in as big as Winfield or other overpaid CB's. Heck, the Pats won the SB with 2 backups playing CB, so teams will think "why kill your cap for cover CB's ? That's a thing of the past, prior to the rules change " Clements will never sign early and test the market. In the meantime, TD will probably draft a CB in the 2nd or 3rd round in April, in anticipation of the move. Addition and subtraction is a way of life with the cap. I see many teams are returning to a 3-4 Defense so they can drop their LB's back in short zone coverage. This allows the CB's to play off the WR's and guard more against the deep ball. Everyone wants to copy the Pats. -

In the next few months, the Bills will have 15 -20 new faces added to the roster. TD stated at the Bledsoe press conference that he was going to work on aquiring help for the offense and I have little reason to doubt it, having seen his active ways during past free agency. I'm interested to see the activity over the next few weeks, starting this Wed. It's always an exciting time of year. -
I agree.

http://www.draftshowcase.com/05RunningBacks.htm While the overall 2005 Draft class is considered below average, the RB class is considered strong. Clarett hasn't played in 2 years and is far from a top 5 back in this draft. Maybe the guys ahead of him need to do something stupid or dye their hair purple, to help their recognition. I'm thinking the scouts are smarter than that. -
The Cardinals may be contenders now!

Am I the only poster here who believes Dennis Green is vastly overrated as a Head Coach ? I'm well aware of his record in Minny. Making weekly starting lineup changes is a great way to lose your locker room. -

Claretts game was never breakaway speed but rather strength and change of direction. As a loyal Buckeye fan, I detest the guy for what he did to Ohio St. but someone like the Raiders will still pick him in Round 4 or 5. He's getting waaaaaay too much publicity but that's the nature of America. Notorious name recognition over actual talent. -
Clarrett's bad day at the combine

Completely agree, D. Thomas gives a great effort and has a knack for getting in the endzone. He'd be a very good fit as a backup plus a solid starter if Willis went down. -
Anyone remember Jeff Faine?

Teague looked like a swinging door in 2003, with Pucillo and Rueben playing horrid football next to him. In 2004, he received much better coaching and Chris V. to his right. Still needs someone on his left flank but his play vastly improved. I was one of his biggest critics in 2003 and give him credit for playing far better last season. I believe Tucker is solid at Center also and a good versitile backup. The LG position could use a big road grader for the running game.
