And with the 11th Pick in the 2009 NFL Draft
R. Rich replied to Nightcrawler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing is confirmed yet, but he's shot up draft boards and, in most likelihood, will be the top pass rusher selected if he decides to come out early. I selfishly, as a PENN STATE fan, would like to see him return to school (especially since he really backed into the starting role and could use more seasoning), but if he's that hot a commodity, then I wish him well if he gives the pros a shot. -
You don't find them oh so clever?

Use the 'edit' function on your initial post in the thread. Make sure you do a "full edit" as opposed to a "quick edit".

Who's decsion was it to kick a 46 yard FG in a tornado?

I'm sure they were able to do it on Friday. -

Kinda like Kirwan and Ryan did on Sirius. They think firing Jauron would be a bad move. Yeah, me too. Only 3 more years... -
Injured. Jake Long, Kendall Langford, - Jason Taylor Not only management and coaching. See above.

That may be why they shoot for FGs. -
what would you rather see the bills draft
R. Rich replied to Drew026's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
William, you know you're one of my favorite posters here on the Wall. Thing is, in regard to this issue, you offer up no solutions in terms of who you think they should draft; all you do is criticize the team for drafting first round D backs. Like you, I wish they'd go after a stud player up front or two, but that hasn't worked out to be the case. So be it. We'll just have to agonize through the process yet again, unless the team realizes they need to do something up front to solidify themselves. Now, if we come out of Round 1 w/ a stud pass rusher or stud O lineman, maybe then we'll hear the end of this D back bickering. Then again, if we do draft the next Derrick Harvey (how's that working out, Jags?) or Winston Justice (Philly's still waiting...), then what? -

Deja vu??? -
The Cowboys collapse and so does Romo

Why? -
In theory, the score would've been tied 3-3 had we made a FG then. My issue is w/ the general strategy to play for a FIELD GOAL instead of actually trying to.....I dunno.......score a touchdown instead. Yeah, yeah, I know; that's loser talk.

Don't expect much "wiggling".

Very good initial post, Tucker. What took you so long?

I can't say I disagree much w/ Sullivan's take on the state of this team.

how will the bills market themselves next year?
R. Rich replied to NicholasCal1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, no, no.....they'll use the same old ploy: "Come on out and root for the team, wait to get your heart ripped out yet again, and go away w/ nothing. What, you don't like it? We don't have to stay in this broke a** town, so keep that in mind. See you on opening day." -
A Few Thoughts About The Game (and the season)
R. Rich replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, one guy has shown he's not a fit for this team, while the other has shown glimpses @ the outset of the season (when we played some of the worst teams in the league) before tanking once we began division play. Sorry, William, but I'm not excited 'bout either QB @ the moment. I'm just hoping they get things turned 'round so that we don't go an entire decade w/out a playoff spot. -
Let's just get this out of the way now so we can all get back to enjoying the holidays. Way to go, Fred Jackson! You showed a lot of heart out there. I only wish you weren't the only one gutting it out like that. Yet another lackluster performance by our offense. Were it not for Jackson, they would've looked abysmal. Edwards' inability to look down the field is really pathetic. As for Robert Royal? Ugh. It would be nice if our safety valve could actually catch. Also, the horrible game management by Edwards (on the field) and the coaching staff (putrid play calling) did not help matters any. There is no sense of urgency (way to end the first half and the second half.....yikes), not even when the time is ticking down and the team has little or no timeouts @ their disposal. Do they not practice these kind of situations? It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't. Jauron and his staff do more each week to show that they are ill prepared and that they do a poor job of preparing their players to play. We see the same mistakes over and over. And he'll most likely be awarded a three year extension for this. Great. I think this game clearly shows the Bills' deficiencies @ the linebacker position. These guys were too far off the ball, could not shed blocks to get to the point of attack, and showed little toughness in terms of hitting/tackling ability. Also, the way Mayo was able to chase down Edwards from the back side? How many of those plays have we seen from the Bills' LBs this season? I thought the lines, both offensive and defensive, actually had decent games today. Ryan Denney made a few plays, as did Kyle Williams. I still saw Kelsay out of position @ times, but that's to be expected. Kirk Chambers gave a game effort and didn't totally humiliate himself. Unlike the guy next to him. Mr Dockery continues to slump even further this year. What a sorry effort out of him. So, another year done, another 7-9 season. Three in a row. It's gotta be tough to accomplish that. Oh well, only 3 more years and we'll be competitive again. The perpetual "3 year plan" that the Bills have been on for nearly a decade. Wonderful. It's getting tougher and tougher to believe that this team's fortunes will change as long as Ralph Wilson is the owner and as long as Jauron is the coach. Unfortunately for the Buffalo area, a change in ownership will probably mean the Bills' departure. That's nothing I want to see happen, though I fear it's already in the works. I still have that glimmer of hope that someone will put together a group of investors and work to keep the team in Buffalo, but I know it's a long shot. Still, no matter if they can find someone to keep the team in town or if someone buys the team and moves it, I'm sure that they will become competitive once the change in ownership happens. Offseason time! Time to delve into the draft discussion, think of offseason scenarios to help the team, all of that stuff we do after yet another year of missing the playoffs. I sure will be happy when I'm not getting into this mode 'til after January. Only 3 more years...

It's a need, though I think the pass rush is perhaps a greater need.
-
I think any of our back 7 would be better suited in a defense where there's more size and power up front and a consistent push up the edge. If that's a 3-4, more traditional 4-3, or the current scheme, those are the key (and, right now, missing) items.
-
Bob, I don't think he's a bust. I am a bit disappointed in some of the fundamental flaws I see in his play: poor tackling angles, no pop @ the point of attack, and failure to get the proper depth on his dropbacks (something he had NO problem w/ while @ PENN STATE). In this Tampa 2 hybrid something or other (crap) defense, he's not going to be asked to shoot the gap constantly. That's the responsibility of our front line, in particular our DEs. Hahaha!!!
-
Chris Canty a "never were"??? If he weren't playing DE in a 3-4, he'd have more of the stats that the "I've heard of him" crowd like to see. I'm not sure how ready Dallas is to let him go either, but he'd be a nice addition to any D line.
-
Take the best player for the value of the pick. If it's a DE, OL, or LB, then go for it. I kinda like the Maualuga idea if he's available. He needs a bit of refinement, but it's easier to coach a great athlete up than it is to take a well coached player and make him more athletic. The pick could end up being a TE like Jermaine Gresham of OU. Not the best blocker, but man is he a threat in the passing game.

I really don't wanna know how it is you know Evans isn't a "solid number 2 guy" now.

I'm guessing you forgot: 7) he's soft, stupid, expensive, and isn't a lineman
