That's an eye opening chart the powers that be clearly aren't showing during the evening news.
I can't find numbers, but reading the footnote for underlying conditions.... It's like a prescriptions side effects: it's anything and everything.
The aggregate number of Americans with diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or asthma would be high. Not every one is an athlete in perfect condition.
Every footnote matters.

They aren't going to catch up with NYC next week because they aren't on top of each other.
My point wasn't that they will catch up, just that the point on the graph where other cities are is about a week behind. There are no doubt cases in all lower 48. It's just time before they have the same close to exponential increase in their cities/towns (if testing is done).

NYC and upstate are two different animals. To expect the infection rate Upstate to be anything close to NYC is not realistic. UpstTe resembles Indiana more than it does NYC.
And that kinda proves the whole point doesn't it? It's not exponential US wide because all localities are different (and about a week behind the NYC outbreak)

So not exponential
Nope, but testing isn't being done well enough nationwide.
NYS' numbers have been pretty darn close to exponential (considering shortage of testing media upstate).

Deaths from SARS-CoV-2 start slow. It's because in general the complications are preventable. However once your local healthcare system is at capacity, deaths rise out of the lack of resources to deal with the respiratory problems. The real reason the virus is a killer is because of how quickly it moves through a population.
If testing and tracing of positives are being completed, expect about 390-430 cases to be there the next day. If they are spread out around the state, deaths will stay low for about a half well, however if there's a cluster, deaths will show up within the next two days.

That's really bad, but at least part of it is due to the lack of available testing until now, which, as I think of it, is also really bad.
You are 100% correct. The numbers are likely higher. There was also too much restriction on who was tested at first, making the numbers lower.

So, you agree with the PRC or...?
What, are adults now children that need their hand held?FFS, I'd hate to see how the people in this country would respond to a REAL emergency.
I don't agree with your premise that this is not real. That said, those that are fearful can know that it will be alright. We will get through this together.

Some of the exchange.
He took the time to berate instead of answer the question of, what do you say to those who are scared?
If he disagrees with the false sense of hope from a previous question then preface your remark with it. You can help those who are scared by letting them know that it will be okay.

“Weenies”?? This is the sort of thing I would have said when I was 14. Yes...
This is me in grade 9!
I will give you 500 bonus points for dropping the wiggles in a Coronavirus thread. That is not easy.
I see what you did there!?

You do know that the N95 mask, which is the topic, is not the same as a surgical mask to which you may be referring?
However, someone needs to understand N95 operation. Not as simple as buying from Amazon/Home Depot and putting it on.https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.livescience.com/amp/face-mask-new-coronavirus.html
Yes, I know the difference between the two.
The N95 is capable of filtering out 95% of the particulates with a median mass diameter of 0.3 microns. Pretty small. SARS, another strain of coronavirus, was 0.1 microns and typical coronavirus' have been in the 0.125 micron size.
So, at this size of particle, we're looking at some protection, but not much, because as you stated, you need to know how to wear it, how it fits, when it's done being effective, etc. Again this is psychological.
And also if you run out of n95s to buy, go buy a P100. ?♂️

You guys do know that these masks aren't going to stop you from inhaling the virus right? They do a good job of stopping an infected person from spewing germs out. It's why surgeons wear masks in surgery, to prevent their germs from getting out.
The mask is all psychological in nature.
We should be worried more about the flu than coronavirus right now. It seems like there is something to worry about every year

No they are not. They lost to the Jags in Kelly's last game. Unfortunately I was at that one too...
Good to know. I was a young'en around that time.

I agree it can get loud still!

But seriously, I don't buy into the idea that having that big outdoor stadium in the dead of Buffalo winter is an advantage to the Bills. Like yeah, Kelly was special. But that window is closed, and every Bills QB since has struggled in those conditions. I don't really see freezing, swirling winds as a positive to QB growth and development.
I was pointing at the fans and how loud they get. When Bills fans are excited they are disruptive.
Next year we'll know what it's like to have a home playoff game again!

This is to the topic at hand, but Buffalo is unbeatable at home in the playoffs?
I know the timelines are different, but if the Bills had a home game this year, there's no doubt the crowd would have deafened the opposing team. There's just nothing like Buffalo fan craziness. It's like Seattle, but significantly better!

I believe it’s a judgement call, and the problem in the NFL is that the refs are consistently showing really poor situational awareness and judgement. There’s ZERO chance that’s called against the Patriots. ZERO
I can't disagree with you. Again I will point to Corrente and his bias against the Bills (I know those things don't exist....). This is just what we have to deal with.

Here's the thing. That never gets called. F*** that it gets called. How many times have you seen that this year?
In Bills games? Average of about 0.75/gameish
That had been called all season, and almost all of them have not been forceful. It was a rule change for this year that NEEDS to go.

So it’s OK to enforce a stupid rule in a ticky tacky manner vs the Bills in a key situation, but “common sense” must prevail when the KO return man flips a live football to the referee in his own end zone? (Not saying that’s your position.)
I get it. I also remember Hughes being are the back of a pile on his own sideline after the fumble recovery and getting an Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty for.......... trying to get Texans off his teammates?
I was surprised that Tony Corrente allowed the first down to stay on the last drive, but he has called a lot of sh***y calls on the Bills over the years (my bias is showing, and so is his). Once I noticed it was Corrente heading the crew I was waiting for that, "huh?" call.
Also, the head to head hit on Allen... They don't call that two plays before....I was actually surprised they didn't take Allen out of the game.

This is a respiratory illness, so if the heart stops because of a lack of oxygenated blood: was it Covid or was it a heart attack? And how would you know?
Extremely high would be my guess, however I would like to leave that to the doctors.
