  1. +1 itd be so nice to see this team actually be good. this community is starving for it and we deserve it!

Agreed. But I suppose there are a lot of other teams whose fans deserve it. Think about the Lions. We stuck with our team through crappy seasons, but we were always just below average. The Lions were HORRIBLE for the past 11 years and yet they still have fans at all.

  2. .500

Ha, so we'd have to assume that we end up 10-6, so this year we're only 2 games better than we really are, and last year we were actually a full 4 games better than our record stated? Or we end up 9-7 this year and our record is only 1 game better than we really are (this would probably be a pointless argument if we were talking 1 game, so I chose 10-6)? That's fair enough I suppose, though I don't know if we're only 2 games better than we really were last year this year :)

  3. I guess the OP could be right - the Bills may not be as good their record suggests. They caught some breaks in the OAK and NE games that may have helped them complete their comebacks and hold on.

What I don't agree with is the notion that the so-called "legit contenders" somehow don't catch needed breaks themselves that contribute to their wins. All teams catch good and bad breaks regularly - that's just a symptom of the horribly inconsistent officiating in the NFL today. If you think your so-called contending teams are winning more "legitimately" or however you want to phrase it you're mistaken.

And who are these contenders anyway supposedly winning so much more consistently than Buffalo? I'll give you Green Bay and New Orleans in the NFC look to be in top form and are probably going to run through people all year long. But what about in our conference? Well:

NE - Buffalo beat them. Defense is worst in league. Even miami hung with them for a half before NE pulled away.

BAL - laid one egg already. Defense still good; Flacco sputters at times.

PITT - already looking like a very long season for Pitt. Wouldn't be too worried about them.

NYJ - defense looks like it regressed. Sanchez is being exposed since they cant run the ball anymore.

SD - still strong, Rivers doesn't look quite himself though.

I'm not really all that frightened of those perennial AFC contenders this year. Everyone is beatable nowadays, with or without our "lucky breaks."

...And last year the Bills were not as bad as their record suggests. So if they're better than last year, and their record was inaccurate last year, but our 3-1 this year is also inaccurate, then where the heck are we?

  4. Luck may turn out to be a great QB, but is that what the Colts need? Manning isn't just a good QB- he's the HC and OC and he runs a very unique offense the likes of nothing else in the league. In order to sustain the success they've had with Manning they would have to make a few adjustments to their offensive personnel and coaching staff. Any successor to Manning (unless he teaches them his ways and they have his authority and leadership abilities) is going to force a rebuild.

  5. Funny how the tide has turned around here. Up until last year, he was beloved around here. Now people are acting as if he was always a bust and never could play football. Typical Buffalo reaction. How long until everyone turns on Fitzy and run him out of town?

I think what happened here was that everyone thought he had a lot of talent and the physical tools and intelligence necessary to be a great QB, and that he was just being ruined by the coaching staff. Then Gailey got rid of him and they started to get the idea that maybe it wasn't the coaching staff. After that, Fitzpatrick had outstanding statistics and showed us Trent's GLARING weakness that we couldn't see when he was all we watched: he takes longer than any QB in the league to find a receiver and get rid of the ball- it's painful to watch. Comparing Fitz's decision-making with Edwards' is night and day. It's just so blatant now.

  6. Thank you for finally proving a point, albeit one that you probably didn't intend to make. You claim that you justify buying counterfeit goods because there is little difference between the "real thing" and the fakes.

If the jersey's were made in America they would cost significantly more to make to pay for higher wages, benefits, taxes etc, and retail for much more than they do know.

People like you would complain EVEN MORE about the price and use that argument to still justify buying the counterfeit goods.

This simply isn't true. Not even close. If the jerseys were made in the U.S. then they would charge more, yes, for saying they were American made. As far as paying for the labor- no, they already charge more than enough for an authentic jersey to cover labor and significant profit (300 dollars per jersey? what are they paying factory workers these days? 50 dollars an hour? Give me a break).

Additionally, you've negated your point that the authentic jerseys are made in a better environment where they take care of their workers. The difference in locations- according to you- allows the NFL to charge less because of labor costs, but surely those costs wouldn't be all that different anyway, since the NFL Approved shops in China clearly pay their workers what they deserve for making "quality" product?

  7. Welker is good, but he's not lightning- I don't understand the issue covering him. I mean, just give up something else downfield to cover the guy. There can't be a worse alternative than him catching the ball underneath and gashing the D for 20 YAC every time. There just can't be.

  8. I wonder if lining up two edge rushers would do the trick... Sure, Moats isn't a strong side OLB in general, but he could come in on a play every once in awhile. Either way, it doesn't matter- I don't know if anyone else notices this but they keep acting like players need to be played at certain 3-4 positions when we really don't run 3-4.

  9. Hit the nail on the head, this Hybrid sucks, we now have the guys for a 34 and they want to run a 43 :wallbash:

    forget Troupe

    DE Dareus

    NT Kyle

DE Heard who is way better than Troupe and should have stayed activated.

...Even still- you get my point.

  10. Let's not forget that Fitz bears the burden for WR's who seem to drop the first 3 passes thrown to them.

This is the most insightful post of the year. Fitz is highly inaccurate at times, but it wouldn't look as bad if the Bills' WRs caught ANYTHING for the first two quarters. It's absolutely ridiculous how many passes are dropped in the first half.

  11. I think that they realize that both Dareus and KW, who are their best defenders, are better suited as 3 techs. They also know that there isn't a 34 OLB on this roster who will ever amount to anything. It's as simple as that. Nix has simply ignored the gaping hole at OLB which makes the 34 defense special.

I see some of this. However, they have Torrell Troup back, who, for better or for worse, is GOING to play. He is a true 3-4 NT and that allows you to play Dareus at his normal position (3-4 DE) and puts KW at what is not so much his suited position (but he can play anywhere- 3-4 DE). It's better to put proven multi-technique players a little outside their positions than to put people like Shawne Merriman at 4-3 DE, which is a complete and utter waste of talent. Merriman and Kelsay are BOTH undersized 4-3 DEs.

  12. There was no lack of urgency to put points on the board and continue to bury them. It was actually the opposite. We don't get pressured when we're coming from behind, but you could see the pressure to put up points when we were in the lead. There were multiple shots downfield and a lot of plays where we wanted to force a big play. There was no consistency and rythmic execution on offense. We tried to be TOO aggressive, and that's why we lost.

  13. At the beginning of the year we were told that the Bills would run a "hybrid" defense since they felt they still lacked the personnel/experience to run an effective, straight-up 3-4. Well, this year I see no hybrid. I see a 4-3 or nickel nearly every snap with a 3-4 sprinkled in here and there. First, why are we barely running a 3-4 when we spent all offseason trying to get closer to the 3-4 with personnel? Second, if you're running a hybrid because of personnel issues, why the freak are you not using ANY shifts, stunts, blitzes, etc? The defensive side of the ball is loaded with young and old talent, and we are just running them into the ground by putting everyone out of position and making them play without any help from scheming. This is just sickening to me. Thoughts?

  14. He put up good numbers against Pittsburgh and Baltimore last season, so I don't think that's true. He's an excellent QB when he doesn't force passes, and uses his ability to read defenses to find the open guy. The Bills were hell-bent on forcing the ball down the field today, even if it meant going deep to their 3rd string QB on 3rd and medium.

I think they learned their lesson today. Fitzpatrick will return to form next week.

I agree with this post. Or at least I hope it's true.
