  1. Speculation Panthers baiting Bills to move up to 1st overall in the 2011 NFL Draft :o

    http://www.profootballweekly.com/

I touched on this awhile back, Buffalo has something no other team can give the Panthers which is only sliding back two spots. Is it likely, probably not , but its possible If Buddy Nix really thinks Cam Newton is the guy. Not for our 2 though, I can't see that happening, our extra 4th,

    maybe...

  2. Really an emotional result show, thought Casey might be having a heart attack.(great save)

Thanks for the link on the mansion cablelady, sounds kind of creepy. I can't help but wonder though If someone who doesn't care for spiders might have had something to do with the sheet floating around.

  3. For me, the key statistic is "When opponents sent five or more pass-rushers, Newton completed 73.5 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and no interceptions". That's enough for me to start thinking about Newton at #3.

It is a key statistic, Newton actually gets better under pressure, kid thrives on it,

  4. Probably one of the most talented and diverse group of singers to date, great job judges,

The bounce back by Naima Adedapo was spectacular and Yo judges don't mess with that, leave her alone, wouldn't change a thing about that performance, Niama is as unique as she is talented, Big WOW!!!

Casey Abrams, James Durbin, and Pia Toscano are my top three at this point, but Naima Adedapo made a huge impression and she's the one I'm probably going to remember the most from tonight's American Idol performance's.

  5. Yet, it is amazing how sensative some people are towards race. I would love to see SI, ESPN someone do a story on it.

I truly believe there is a stereotype that black QB's have to be able to run the ball. If Warren Moon was in the draft today would he fall because he cannot run? Do all QB's have to run? What does race actually mean with a QB? I am not at all racist. I get very offended being called a racist. I posted a thread a few months ago about Newton declaring and was called a racist in the first 3 of 4 responses. I deleted the thread.

I am not trying to make myself out to be a martyr against racism but that we are so hyper sensative to it is just as disturbing as those who are racist. The one who propel the stereotypes are just as bad - that think Cam Newton can run the ball and that it relates to his race or that race changes who someone is - they're just as racist.

Race is not a definition of the identity of anyone - yet we still treat people differently because of it. :wallbash:

Theres probably more stereotyping going on then racism in my opinion.

  6. Casey Abrams form American Idol put a spell on me, cat can sing, Mercy!!!

James Durbin, Scotty MCcreery, Jacob Lusk

Some amazing talent this season, almost impossible to shave the guys down to 5 without feeling like you just sent home the next American Idol

  7. That context doesn't change my impression of what he said AT ALL.

It's a guy falling into the trap of listening to his PR team (using the term "icon" to refer to himself?)

"What we're going to establish for you Cam, is an iconic presence"

Cam Newton is already an icon and you know what he does with it? he uses it as a tool and steers children that idolize him into doing better in school. My bro seen Cam at a mall in Georgia a few weeks back and he was getting followed around by about 40 people, half of them kids and teenagers. He said Cam didn't seem to mind it a bit and took it all in stride.

  8. Hey Fig.

I'm not disputing your transcript of the conversation but I know the original report was from Peter King Tweeting Newton's comment based on their private phone conversation. At the time of his tweet, King never mentioned what Newton's comment was in reply to (BTW, I don't follow anyone on Twitter). The King tweet was picked up by media outlets without any context…because King gave none at the time.

Do you know for sure that was the question Newton was responding to? Was this subsequently clarified by Peter King?

    Just curious and thanks.

It was brought up on the Mike and Mike show and according to them Cam was answering an Under Armor question. I was speculating on the actual question.

    Can't find a transcript ,but here's something http://boards.buffalobills.com/showthread.php?t=334569

  9. Language is interesting, isn't it? Without the context of the question, his statement becomes fodder for those seeking reasons to knock him. And while I'm sure San Jose didn't mean to "twist" the statement, that's what results without the context.

Cam Newton may indeed end up being a jerk (personally, I think he's very well spoken) but he isn't one for making that statement.

    GO BILLS!!!

I agree K-9, and I have much respect for San Jose, but what are folks supposed to believe when something is taken out of context and plastered everywhere you look.

I blame SI, its piss poor journalism, don't have a story, manufacture one. Its to bad because Cam Newton is a humble person according to his teammates and coaches.

Sometimes honesty is not the best policy...

  10. I am not judging Newton…and Nix and Gailey were wise to be very non-commital about his comments.

Both were correct in saying that they hadn't seen the context of his comments and that at this point, it was not a big concern.

However, the fact does remain (and I'm not attempting to "twist" anything), that Newton said “I see myself not only as a football player, but an entertainer and icon.”

Cam, in the wake of the huge Under Armor deal you just signed, why in your mind would Under Armor feel that they could benefit from an endorsement with Cam Newton?

Cam: I see myself not only as a football player, but an entertainer and an icon (and its already true San Jose)

  11. You know who I feel bad for in this? The boy on the show....he was scheduled to make A MINT on each and every episode.

    Way to go Chuck

We were just discussing that earlier, I agree John, the rest of the cast got screwed. It was my Moms best show on television and it broke her heart to know the person she's been watching is a self centered egotistical maniac.

  12. The more people look at Newton the more they are going to be impressed by him, on film and as a person/leader, believe it or not. I haven't read any of the latest Newton threads and I assume this article has been posted a lot but everyone should read it if they haven't. It's an extensive, exhaustive look at Newton, with a lot of surprising elements, IMO.

    http://weblogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports/columnists/hyde/blog/2011/02/draft_winds_a_thorough_breakdo.html

The key to the Bills, IMO, is exactly what Gailey said it would be. They are going to sit down and talk to him, watch film with him, and listen to him dissect defenses. If they are blown away by how he watches film and what he knows about what defenses are doing, they are going to seriously consider him if he is available (I think it's more and more likely he goes #1 overall, which may be the best thing that could happen to us). Everything Gailey and Nix have said so far publicly makes sense. And while there is a lot of gamesmanship going on, the best thing the Bills can do is not tip their hat. But if they love the guy, which is very possible, they're going to take him at #3 if he is still there (I don't think there is any chance we will move up to get him.

If the Panthers really want Cam Newton there's probably nothing we can do about it so I tend to agree with you Kelly on the trading up. If they would make a trade then the weren't going to draft him in the first place.

Myself personally, its real hard to find anything I don't like about the Auburn Tiger signal caller. Newton's an honest sincere, humble individual despite how people try take his words out of context and twist them around. The kids got a big heart and he's a student of the game of football. Cam Newton could also be one of the best athletes the National football league has ever seen.

My gut tells me Cams going to the Panthers, but if he's there at #3 there's not a doubt in my mind, Cam newton is a Buffalo Bill.

  13. G' day from New Zealand,

I just bought a sweet 2008 Triumph 1050 Tiger and was wondering if there were any other Triumph riders on this board. (doubt it, but was just curious.)

I know that Triumphs don't have much of a market in the US, but down here they're quite popular.

    It's the sweetest ride.

My bro used to have a 550 and his best friend had a 650 Tiger, but that was years ago. I drove them both, bad ass Bikes

  14. Could be my overactive paranoia, but this seems like a bit of 'gamesmanship' to me - I'm thinking Carolina may be wanting to trade down, and is trying to bait a partner.

(Personally, I don't think Newton will go in the top 5 - but that's JMO.)

I've considered the possibility, but Rivera needs a QB so it seems more likely to me they will draft the Auburn Tiger signal caller.
