  1. Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous with some parents. Partially to blame are media sensationalists, who would have you believe that every stranger is a child molester. Parents in our society seem convinced, for a number of reasons, that everything in the world exists simply to kill their child.

I blame CSI, CIS, SIC and every other crime drama derivative, for convincing the nation that everyone they don't know is pedophile or serial killer. And what makes all these parents think anyone wants to touch their kids anyway? I know every parent is obligated to think that their kids are really hot, but if they were to take a step back and look at the situation objectively, they would probably see that most kids today are just unmolestable. Kids today are dumber, fatter and uglier than ever. And as for the serial killers, well I think they're looking for a little more of a challenge than luring another retarded fat kid into the back of a panel van with promises of candy. Childhood obesity runs rampant, juvenile diabetes is spreading like the plague and the public schools aren't even trying to teach, just giving everyone a pat on the back. Hunting a 250lb 3rd grader, with an amputated foot and an IQ of 75 isn't exactly good sport. A whole lot of fuss about nothing.

  2. Ya... :blink::oops:

I question your ability to read.

That time of the month or something?

Or perhaps I gave the impression of having mis-read your initial post in order to set up a joke. Let's be serious, if I actually had questions about what you wrote, would't I just scroll up 3 inches and see for myself rather than ask? Not my finest work, but they can't all be gold, and they're never any good when you have to explain it.

As for the link between male-menstruation and declining reading comprehension, I'll have to take your word on that.

  3. The wedding is apparently not too far away and we have to stay downtown, preferrably to keep driving that weekend to a minimum.

The main knock against the Strath is people come expecting a 5 star hotel and feel let down. You're not going to find rats or roaches, but from what my girlfriends parents said when they stayed there, the interiors are dated and the walls looked dirty. The Hyatt isn't very far away, which should be comfortable, and if you want to spend some bucks check out the Inn on Broadway. There's also 1 or 2 bed and breakfasts on Park Ave, about a mile away from the Strath which are supposed to be nice.

There's also the East Ave Inn, which is a dump but its cheaper. And how could I forget the Cadillac Hotel. I believe its a men's hotel, so you have to bring your hooker in through the back door or something. But nobody will judge you and there are plenty of needles around. Waste not, want not.

  4. Heading to a friend's wedding in Rochester, and the recommended hotel is the Strallahan downtown. My concern is that the reviews on Tripadvisor are mostly negative. What's the real story about the place from anyone who stayed there?

I haven't stayed there since I live just down the street, and that would just be a damn waste, but I've heard its not too sweet. Where is the wedding and what part of town are you looking to stay in?

  5. One of their fans said...

That gives us 5 players in our secondary who were 1st round draft picks...Hall, Clements, Jones, Nelson, and Whitner.

Along with two 1st round LBs (Lawson and Rivers), and two 2nd round LBs (Maualuga and Howard).

Our back seven is pretty talented at least on paper - 9 players in the back 7 were 1st or 2nd rounders.

    WOW... Just Wow... :wallbash:

By Cincinnati logic our DL this year should look something like Kelsay, Flowers, McCargo, Maybin. Great work Bungles fans!

  6. What kind of wine goes with crayons? I've just picked up a box of 64 colors which I intend to dine on tonight. I was thinking of doing a 5 course tasting menu, but need help with the pairings:

Burnt Sienna - perhaps a strong Burgundy

    Aquamarine - dry riesling

Shocking Pink - maybe a blush or rose

Brick Red - thats an easy one, cab sauvignon for sure

    and for dessert

Banana Mania - a nice aged port, or maybe a fruity chiraz?

    Any suggestions.

  7. It would certainly be difficult to for CJ to be less involved than he was last year. I expect him to get more carries, and catch a lot of balls in the backfield as well as run some short routes. I anticipate Gailey will try to use him similar to Westbrook and Faulk (later in their respective careers) or Reggie Bush. Unless he can pick up the blitz he's effectively useless though.

The minute he checks into the game opposing defenses know its a running play, since he cannot pass block. Screens do not work with CJ for the very same reason. If CJ does not vastly improve his pass protection and ball security, it could be another long season on the sideline.

I am curious to see if Gailey will split CJ out wide like he did once last season, and Spiller did a few times in college. If I recall correctly, CJ moved from the backfield into the slot drawing the LB over into coverage, and then either went in motion to the sideline or the route was from slot to sideline and then straight downfield. CJ burned his man but the ball was over thrown. Either way, total mismatch.

Captain Foresight told me to expect alot more screens out of CJ and hopefully the potential to get the ball in space more often this year.

I hope my comment doesn't rub Captain Foreskin the wrong way, but I don't think you should be taking football advice from your penis.

  8. Are you talking about Bills fans or Raiders fans? I think it would probably apply to both.

Well that type of thinking will get you in trouble. The point is our fans don't need to change as long as there are other that are worse.

In other words: "I don't have a drinking problem. That guy at the end of the bar is a much bigger drunk than me." See?

  9. If the idea is to pick a game which will strongly dissuade your wife from ever returning to the Ralph, the Raiders game is ideal. Their fans can best be characterized as unwashed, obnoxious, of sub-standard intelligence and generally hostile. Fights are guaranteed, especially if the Bills are losing. Raider fandom has spread like herpes, in fact the correlation between the rise of Raider nation across the country and the spread of herpes is shockingly similar, so there will be a lot of trashy Raider fans out that day further increasing the chances of incident.

  10. I am right there with you ... living in South Jersey where every Eagles' fan even in their losing seasons has always felt in the preseason like this was going to be THE BIG YEAR ... now, yes they do boo Santa Claus but they are eternal optimists with their Eagles!

Eagles fans are bad human beings. Liking the Eagles doesn't make one bad, it just so happens that bad people are attracted to the Eagles for whatever reason. If you were on a bus full of strangers, it would be easy to pick out the Eagles fan because he would be the one hitting you in the face with a hammer. Whether its booing Santa Claus, booing their draft picks, cheering when Irvin was temporarily paralyzed, breaking Chief Wahoo's leg, the crowded jail cell in the basement of the old Vet, or the way they run their star players out of town, Iggles fans get to write it all off as "we're just passionate fans," and then send me some SI article from 15 years ago which names Philly fans the most informed in the league. Let's stop with the BS. Iggles fandom is hardly the gold standard.

  11. All candidates for the Wall of Shame?? Actually, Alex Smith's season when Norv Turner was OC was pretty good with like 18 TDs and 10 INTs. Leaf & Akili were worthless.

Bills actually have quite a few Hall of Shame candidates with Walt Patulski as overall #1, Mike Williams & Flowers.

Unlike Maybin, all the other players you've mentioned got off the bench, had several career starts. Maybin has been a healthy scratch for most of his career. Compare the career stats of any of the other major busts to Maybin and they blow him away.

  12. So far Maybin has contributed one costly penalty on special teams, one drive sustaining roughing the passer penalty (which lead to a TD I believe) and one big time celebration after a routine tackle while losing by 20 points. Purely looking at stats, Jamarcus Russel and Joey Harrington are hall of fame candidates compared to Maybin. Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith and Alex Smith are all above average in comparison. No team in professional sports has gotten less production from a top 10 draft pick since Len Bias with the Celtics. And given the negative production on Maybin's stat line, even that's sort of a toss up.

Worst draft pick in sports history.

  13. The sunday night games are so much better it's not even close. What the hell is MNF doing.

Too bad Sunday night football is unwatchable. I don't care if Olberman got canned, its unforgiveable that he was ever covering football to begin with. And if Olberman weren't bad enough we get Rodney f'ing Harrison. Combine terrible personalities with the most disjointed pre-game coverage imaginable as they switch back and forth between the six different reporting tandems, toss in a horse trailer for some reason and the 45 minute theme song from Pink, and I'm ready to stab my eyes out with a pointy stick and pour acid in my ears. I despise Sunday night football.

  14. 300 feet's pretty marginal for SCUBA to begin with, from what I understand. And diving at all in the Gulf of Bothnia is probably non-trivial - it's practically at the Arctic Circle.

Nonsense. Bob Ballard dove 10,000 feet with nothing more than a snorkel and a pair of cardboard fins to discover the Titanic. Ted Kennedy also dove to depths of 300 feet in his 1963 Chrysler. We can do it, we have the technology.
