  1. I too was at that game! My Dad would take me to the Holiday Inn the Jets, and other teams, stayed for autographs and I remember a few team mates of Broadway Joe mentioning that Namath had been out all night and was nursing a pretty epic hangover. Explains the 5 INT's
  2. Let's face it.... the Bills don't think their product is worth 34 cents on the dollar just like the majority of their fans. And they're correct.
  3. 6-10..... we've been figured out as glass cannons =(
  4. I'm trying to be VERY optimistic about the Bills this season. Been with the Bills from their inception and gloried at the AFL Championship.... nursed frozen aching feet after countless games at the old Memorial, so my history is strong. However I can help harboring that nagging little twinge inside that, much like the little cough that comes up and leads to full blown flu..... that we the faithful die hards are again to be the hapless Charlie Brown as Lucy snatches the football away. I WANT to believe I really do but those 4th quarter doubts creep in every game. Anyway let's go Bills and don't lose the focus- we the fans still wanna believe!
  5. I figured as much Guess I'm hoping to make a concise thread- to save time in searching the 1000's of threads for the pearls And thanks to Billsphan for participating- and by "legendary" I meant perhaps 8-10 Super Bowl victories! Your points are well taken however!
  6. Grudgingly- Steelers-Packers I cannot EVER back the Jets- I saw enough of Namath and Company to maintain a life-long animosity =)
  7. I must first admit to being a casual Bills follower- due to, in my opinion, the fan- loyalty-killing effects of "free agency" (please let's not debate this grenade here!). Simply stated, my reason is that when I was growing up- MANY years ago- I had access to all the Bills players through my father's work. I viewed them all as friends, hanging out at training camps each year and being lucky enough to entertain a lot of the early Bills at our home. My allegiance grew from that intimacy and when free agency became law and players changed teams so often, I became disillusioned on just whom to root for. Enough of this history! The purpose of this thread is to coax my forum mates to open dialogues on just WHAT the Bills need to really be successful and to become a legendary franchise, so the fans can experience WINNING! Possible answers are a better front office, coaching, coaches, playbook, players, draft, new ownership. etc. Please share your passion and suggestions, but don't merely list them- DEFEND and legitimize them! And let's not devolve into demeaning the opinions expressed; let's rather attempt to distill our points into a plan! Thanks ya'll!
  8. Thanks- likewise on your screen name- one of my all time favorite Bills! We spent many Sundays frozen to our seats at War Memorial.
  9. Cookie will be missed. I remember our family moving to New Orleans and during the All Star game in '65, many black players were not allowed access to hotels and restaurants in town. Cookie was in the vanguard to boycott the game. It was eventually moved to somewhere in Texes (I think), That behavior was as much a shock to us, having just relocated, as it was for the NFL.
