I'dlike to throw out a couple names and see what you guys think-Damon Harrison of the Jets and CedricThornton of the Eagles.

From what I've read Black Monday won't happen in Buffalo right away.
These new owners have been talking to an adviser, and he has advised them to hire someone above Whaley to make the football operations decisions. Meaning that Rex Ryan's, Doug Whaley's fate will be in his hands, whomever that might be. The last offseason it would have Bill Polian who backed out of the situation when Marrone walked away and Orton retired. Polian stating that it would be more than he cared to shoulder at this point in his life. Polian did say he would have replaced Whaley though.
Where have you seen this?

Oh no! Who will be a Jets captain now?
TJ Barnes

I'm definitely not an expert, but the Pegulas knew what they were getting when they hired Rex. So I'll ask another question based on the original poster's question-do we lewt go of anybody this offseason?

Whaley needed to fill his weekly tinkering quota.
Or they will make him turn in his rogue card.

And I thought it was Jeff Wright...

Age. Injuries. $$$$$
-
I tried to read all the posts in this thread, but I only made it through 8 pages before they started sounding the same.
I get that emotion is a component of being a fan, and that Fred was a great leader, teammate, and member of the community. However, he is 34 and at that stage, we should have been preparing ourselves for the day he was not on the roster.
The fact that he is 34 does not bother me by itself. It is the combination of his age and the cumulative effects of the lower body injuries he has suffered that had me concerned., especially when he was injured (again) in camp.
So, what do we do? Do we keep an old, oft-injured RB, or keep a younger one on the roster?
For those of you who are on the Bryce Brown-hating band wagon, I have yet to figure out why. He costs less than Jackson ($2M + for a backup RB is too much). I am aware of his reported fumbling issues, but fumbles did not keep Eric Dickerson out of the Hall of Fame.
So, we have prepared the RB position for the foreseeable future, and can turn our attention to other position groups that need addressing.

It's hard to win in the NFL.

That breakdown was OK. Not a whole lot of detail, but has the videos included.
It shows that Taylor can operate from within the pocket, so that's good. I think he's still not getting his passes out quick enough. Specifically, the comeback routes to Thompson and Goodwin. They've succeeded early in the preseason, but CBs will get the jump on those eventually.
The second third down conversion to Clay was an easy protection read and pass read. Two LBs showing blitz up the middle, Hogan and Clay running the same routes at different levels across the middle, with the safety covering Clay. All Taylor had to do was read the covering LB.
If the Browns make that play more complicated by dropping a LB or DE into coverage, Taylor can just run it. That's the beauty of T-Mobile. He's shown he can pass and run effectively in this preseason. I hope he succeeds the same way in the real games.
Running ability?
And undersized.

I understand the comparisons with Russell Wilson, and even Doug Flutie, by why do I rarely see mention of Drew Brees?

RIP, Curtis.

Just got the text. RIP Van.

Something else that hasn't been mentioned is whether or not Incognito will be around next year.

According to this board's favorite </sarcasm> reporter, Jerry Sullivan, they are:

I just find it hard to believe that two people with the brains and know-how to make billions could be as lost as Jerry would have us believe.

Today I punch clock on 20 years of Naval Service. Very hard today to ingest all the things I've been through with having 28 surgeries the past 5 years. I've been crying since I Signed my DD 214. there's a lot of people on this website who looked after me through the years. there's people on here who sent me out care packages when I was deployed, there's people here that sent me cards also when I was in the hospital. I thank you all for your support and everything else thanks to the administrators for having this website. Out of all the other football websites out there this is truly the best one, I don't say that because I'm a Bills fan I say that because friends of mine who have seen the site that are fans of other teams say so themselves. Now that I'm going home to enjoy my retirement and further heal my body, I hope I can make it up to the stadium this next year's home opener and enjoy some chicken wings and finally meet you all in person. I also want to thank the Buffalo Bills who took my retirement flag and flew it over the stadium for a game. That's going into my retirement shadow box and I'll never forget it and I will cherish it. Thank you all again happy new year god bless you and I hope to meet you all soon.
Congratulations, thank you for your service, and welcome to the club.

Did anyone ask the Buffalo cab driver?
-
I don't think you have anything to worry about. The people on this board will exaggerate any tiny rumor that comes over the internet and, before you know it, 5 national reports will be quoting 7 or 8 different sources that swear it's true.
-
I honestly hope he is gone. He has missed too much time to produced to little to justify the contract he has in mind.
-
Even if he was available, do we really have any trade power?
-
So, we need to find a QB to get killed behind our OL before we get a couple guards?
-
One blown coverage that didn't really affect the outcome of the game? Why nitpick?
