  1. This thread is ridiculous.

Of course Modrak is awful. Even if he didn't have the final say, he was still a part of bust after bust after bust.

Has anyone here ever been in a situation at work where their company was making a terrible business decision? If you push hard and make a clear case, you can often impact that decision. I'm not talking about a janitor at McDonald's advising against bringing back the McRib, I'm talking about somebody relatively high on the food chain. Perhaps Modrak didn't have final say on anything, but that doesn't mean he didn't play a large part in the process.

How about a little personal accountability instead of an endless parade of excuses?

  2. I love when people say they don't want to spend X dollars on a given free agent.

I guess they just don't have any real clue about how the NFL salary cap works, or how close the Bills are to the cap. The Bills could drop 10MM+/year on both Asomaugha and Ngata and have plenty of money left.

It's moot, though, because those are both good players and neither would ever want to come to Buffalo.

  3. C+ is very generous considering he was the single worst pick in the entire draft.

Look at Starks in Green Bay. Or Arian Foster. Heck, look at Fred Jackson. There are always plenty of serviceable running backs available in the NFL.

If you have a fearsome passing game and a solid line, there are plenty of young guys that can get in there and run hard and get production.

Wasting a top ten pick on a running back nonsense. Even if Spiller goes for 1000 yards and 10 TDs this coming season, the pick is still a huge waste.

I still think Spiller has a decent shot of becoming a solid slot receiver, if they go that route with him, though.

  4. We must each dance to our own tune.

I have also seen Brady getting sacked before, many times, in fact, and I'll see it again - and SI isn't the only place to see that, either. Myself, I prefer to look at young, beautiful, scantily clad women.

To each, their own, I guess.

Oh wow, you are so extraordinarily heterosexual! Let the whole world know that you really, really love kitty! Right on, bro!

For me, I have seen scantily clad, beautiful women many times before, and I'll see them again. For me, the cover SI isn't the only place to see them, either.

But to each their own, I guess.

  5. Seems like Bills closed the door on going hard in free agency once Donahoe left.

Perhaps more importantly, no one wants to come to Buffalo. It's perhaps the worst team in perhaps the worst city. Players will go anywhere for the right price, but the problem is that other teams will also be willing to pay just as much, if not more, than Buffalo. The Bills will end up overpaying on some leftover 3rd tier free agents, just like always.

  6. Orton?!

Absolutely not, what a terrible idea.

I wanted the Bills to lose their games more than anyone and get Luck, but even I would say that Orton leaves us no better off than Fitzpatrick. It would just delay the process of searching for our future QB for another few years.

  7. Please explain what a first rounder should play like? Instant pro bowler? How many first rounders make the pro bowl in their rookie years?

    PTR

You certainly like to make posts that don't actually say anything.

Are you trying to say that Spiller's production is on par historically with other running backs drafted in the first round?

Is it your opinion that Spiller is a good NFL running back? Do you think it was a good pick? Everyone already knows the offensive line is not good.

  8. In regards to the fumble challenge the OP is referring to, in those spots you can still challenge the play even though the whistle blew. They won't award you the TD McKelvin would have had, but since there was clear recovery Buffalo could be awarded the ball at the spot where McKelvin picked it up. It didn't seem like the whistle blew until after McKelvin scooped it.

In regards to the refs screwing the Bills, you guys sound like a bunch of jilted lovers playing the same broken record.

  9. What the hell were the Steelers fans yelling last week whenever he made a catch. It sounded like Bruuuuce, or Mooooose, etc. And, I asked the Steeler fan in front me, albeit from Canada, and he said he and the rest of them are yelling Heath. Unless my ears are worse than I thought, no way were they yelling that.

    They are yelling "Heeeath".

The Ravens fans do the same thing. They yell "Heeeap".

They just kind of do it in the same tone as the old Bruuuce chant. It doesn't really fit, but people like to make that noise for their big hoss types.

  10. Hargrove, McGahee (because we wouldnt have wasted the 1st round pick on Martian Lynch), Winfield.

Loved big Pat, but he's too old now to want back.

Oh my God, did you just say you want McGahee back? What drugs are you on? That piece of garbage can die in a grease fire.

  11. First Rounders Since 2000:

    Erik Flowers

    Nate Clements

    Mike Williams

    Willis McGahee

    JP Losman

    Lee Evans

    John McCargo

    Donte Whitner

    Marshawn Lynch

    Leodis McKelvin

    Eric Wood

    Aaron Maybin

    CJ Spiller

Lots of them are busts. Some immediately high-tailed it out of Buffalo the first chance they got. Wood seems injury prone.

Pretty bad that over the last decade of first round picks, Evans and Whitner are the only decent players willing to play for the Bills.
