1. What does it say about your team when your DC makes more than your HC?

Well....to me, it means that Dom Capers must be a good DC who might be in demand if the Fins had to make him the highest paid assistant in the NFL to keep him.

I think it means WH did a good job of retaining Capers as a "security" blanket so Cameron wouldn't be over-whelmed with responsibility as so many other successful coordinators who couldn't make the transition to HC, even AFTER being proven coordinators. (Gregg Williams, Mike Mularkey )

It means Wayne Huizenga isn't a cheap bastard.

It means the Fins seem to want to maintain their defense while re-tooling the offense.

It means Cam Cameron is a 1st year Head Coach who prolly has to prove himself to get paid more in the future.

IMO.....even though Cam is THE HC, Dom will have most of the power on the defensive side of the ball. From what I've read, Cam will concentrate on the Offense and along with the GM (Randy Mueller) will determine draft strategy.

btw...I believe that Hudson Houck maybe the highest paid O-Line Coach in the league too....

Houck and Capers are the only two who are definately coming back next season. Other assistants are being interviewed to determine their status is what I have read.

  2. Has anyone heard if Mularky was let go from the Dolphins ? Since Cam Cameron is an offensive guy what does he do with MM ?

From what I have been reading....Mularkey will be sent packing after the new offense has been installed.

Rumors have been circulating that current QB coach Jason Garrett might be the new OC in Miami but that Cam will be doing the playcalling on game day.

Garrett recently declined an offer by Nick Saban to become his new OC in Alabama.

Keep in mind, this is what I have been reading.....not published reports.

  3. Mike Martz would be the best for you guys since you have a great D and 0 offense.

I would have liked to see Martz as well.....but as someone pointed out awhile back, Martz's offenses are always near the bottom of the NFL in rushing attempts year in and year out...with the way this division is set up, you have to be able to run the ball in December and January....

besides, all I've ever heard about Martz is what an arrogant SOB he is....

  4. I pretty much read most of the opinions on the hiring of Cam Cameron as head coach of the Fins.....typical trashing of Cameron I expected.

But...I do have a question for those of you who have said this hiring is great news for Bills' fans......Is or was there a coach available that in your opinion would NOT BE great news for Bills fans.

Some names mentioned as possible candidates:

    Ron Rivera DC/ Bears

    Brian Schottenheimer OC/Jets

    Jim Mora Jr. HC/Falcons

    Chan Gailey HC/Georgia Tech

    Mike Shula HC/Alabama

    Mike Martz OC/Lions

    Ken Whisenhunt OC/Stillers

    Mike Tomlin DC/Vikings

    Dom Capers DC/Fins

I found it very interesting the Fins offered Capers a BIG $ contract extension to stay with the Fins as their DC, while the man most of you would like to see get the HC job (MEATHEAD) wasn't even considered as the next HC. I have a feeling Mike's days might be numbered in Miami. I think they may keep him to help the offense transition into the new one, but after that....buh bye.

I do believe Cameron's offensive expertise is why he was chosen. The feeble Fin's offense this year was a big deciding factor in who would be the next to lead the Fins.

  5. "You should see those 'tards at that site. I'm usually not one for excessively busting nuts, but those guys make BF sound like a brain surgeon.".....

    Wow.

You know, I often wonder why I don't post as much as I used to on The Wall, the greatest football message board on the entire internet, with some of the most knowledgeable, passionate fans in the NFL.....

but, then all of a sudden, I am reminded why. Thanks for the reminder,

btw....I am happy for many of you who are rejoicing in the Fin Fans misery, you know what they say about misery. Atleast we won't be watching the playoffs alone....

I for one am very disappointed in Saban leaving.....but, I'd rather him leave than stay if his heart wasn't in it!

  6. Randy Cross is a Donkey.....

Dierdorf every Monday night game would say and I quote "There's nobody better than this guy in the NFL......" that is, until next week when whoever is playing is suddenly better than the guy (who a week ago) was the best!

If Bryant Gumbel would stop using phrases like......"Now the Bengals are forced to relinquish the ball......"

Relinquish???? There ought to be a Man-Law against football announcers using "relinquish" during play by play!

  7. Look at how Miami is winning right now. Massive amounts of turnovers, including +4 at Chicago and two TD returns this week. Ronnie Brown is not healthy; Joey Harrington is not playing well. This 3 game winning streak is a fluke.  Now Miami heads into Detroit as 3 point favorites? Even better on wagerline the public is pounding Miami at almost a 70% clip. The Lions are good at home, and usually even better on Thanksgiving. You also have to figure they will know how to defense Harrington. If you’re going to jump on I would buy now while it's still +3.

Look on the bright side.....after the first 8 minutes of the game, you looked like a genius!

  8. The very worst of the worst Detroit teams have ALWAYS shown up on Thanksgiving.

And this is the year of the home underdog.

    844939

ALWAYS shown up on Thanksgiving? You mean like last year? Or the year before? Without looking it up, I think they got outscored by over 50 points!

News Flash......The Lions are always home underdogs..... 0:)

  9. Because being good at handicapping doesn't involve finding a team that has already been hot. It involves finding one that is about to cool off or get hot. If this game was played before Miami/Chicago in this environment it would be Lions -3. Look at the facts DCM. Miami has been helped a ton by turnovers, and played at home 2 of the last 3.  They needed 14 direct points off turnovers to beat a mediocre Minnesota team at home. Harrington has several issues and it would be shocking if after 4+ years the Lions aren't aware how to exploit them. The majority of people think they way you think when it comes to betting, and the majority of people lose.

    843960

Sooooo you think the Lions are about to "get hot"? :P They just friggin' lost to the friggin' Cardinals and looked really bad doing it....

I'm not calling you out on your betting prowess.....just not buying your reasons for declaring the Lions as a sure fire bet. Turnovers are probably one of the most determining factors that decide who wins and who loses by "x" amount of points...I guess if your stance is that the Fins were "given" these turnovers and not "forced" them, I would agree more with you. Besides, I admit I'm bias.....I'm still giddy because I picked up the Fin defense for my fantasy team off free agency and they scored BIG for me!

I just think the Dolphin defense is playing really well right now, don't know the rankings.....they are just making plays. I just can't see the Lions all of a sudden playing like the Chargers this week just cuz they have turkey waiting for them at home.

No Kevin Jones will hurt them if he can't go.....Ronnie was shut down, absolutely shut down by the number 1 run defense in the entire NFL.....and they still managed a win and cover.....

My 1 biggest concern going into Detroit is Olindo Mare....seems his confidence is shaky....and if you have a shaky kicker in a close game....well, you know.

  10. Look at how Miami is winning right now. Massive amounts of turnovers, including +4 at Chicago and two TD returns this week. Ronnie Brown is not healthy; Joey Harrington is not playing well. Don't you think you might be able to find a better bet? Why would you bet against a team that has just won 3 in a row over the Bears, Chiefs and Vikings? If anything the Fins have shown is that they are streaky team....losing streaks.....winning streaks..... unless you think the Fins will win but, not cover....

How healthy is the best player on the Lions tonite? :P

  11. 1. Dan Marino....

Hall of Fame QB with NO other skill position players in the Hall with him. Besides, how many of the others on this list were on a team that KNEW the offense couldn't run. Fins were a one dimensional offense.... How many defenses number one goal is to make an ooposing offense one dimensional?

Everyone knew the pass was coming and they still couldn't stop it....couldn't blitz because he'd find the one on one and burn you.....play 7 DB zone, he'd pick that apart with short passes. Except for the Bills ofcourse! They had Dan's number....

I'm pretty sure Dan would have a couple rings if he were on a better all around football team.

  12. Really? Maybe we're watching different shows, but it seems to me that most of the media has been fellating this guy and pretty much building him up as the next Bill Belichick. Before the season began it seemed like the dolphins were being mentioned all over the place as the AFC champs.

There was a lot of talk about him coming to Buffalo back when he was ready to leave LSU, so I watched his first press conference as a Dolphin. I remember thinking to myself, "this guy is a complete idiot".

At the end of last year and all off season....YES. after a 1-5 start...definately not overrated! I still have faith in Nick....blind faith? who knows.....I can hope can't I ?

  13. You know, you're the most even-keeled Fish fan on this board (and most others), and I always look forward to your visits and posts. And then you look at a photo of a half-naked chick and comment on her fake genes, and I'm reminded that...in the end...you're a freakin' Fish fan.

    806759

btw....I never, ever.....wear jeans to a strip club! If there is even a chance I might end up at a "gentleman's club at some point in the evening....NO JEANS!

  14. Your head coach is just as much of a moron. He's like the guy who uses "big words" from time to time cause he thinks it makes him sound more intelligent. Saban is the most overrated coach in football.

    806755

Although Nick is the one who hired meathead....I don't think he is "as much a moron" as the authentic......

And I don't think Nick is the most overrated coach in the NFL.....he might have been entering the season, but 1-5 doesn't get you a very high rating. To be overrated...I think you have to be on a short list of good coaches in the league, and I don't think Nick is on anybodies list of good coaches right now.

  15. But you had a real nail-biter there in the end yesterday. If Mare hits that field goal...

    806737

Oh the agony....top 10 draft pick here we come.....

btw, the yaya's linky.....those jeans have got to be the worst pair of jeans I have ever seen on a topless hottie.....are you even sure they are jeans?

  16.

.... the buck stops with Saban rather than MM in MI.  Saban may choose to go with another oC to accomplish his goals in MI, but i doubt this will help in that all appears he has but together a lame team with the aging Zach Thomas and Taylor leading the Das well as not having an offnse which works with the up and down from great to bad play of Chambers, Brown and Culpepper....

    790648

I find it very interesting that you pick out an "aging Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor" leading the defense on this "lame" team....The Dolphin defense is ranked 8th in total defense in the entire NFL....as easy as it is to take the road most traveled by harping on the aged veterans.....as poorly as the offense has performed (thanks MEATHEAD!).....the defense has done more than their share....
