  1. Count me in with the 'it feels different" crowd. I still think we have a lot of holes to fill. And we will be counting on a lot of rookies and first timers as coaches.... But I have hope. I don't know if EJ is any good, or if Marone is a decent coach, or even if Whaley will be a good GM. But I sure will enjoy the ride. For the first time in years, I am excited about this team. No more retreads!

  2. Yeah right, all the teams wanted the 5th rated QB in the draft...

Clearly he was not the 5th rated QB on the Bills board. No other QBs were taken so they got their guy.

And who are the other QBs on the board rated higher EJ? Barkley and Nassib? That is not how the draft is playing out.

OBD did a nice job. Got some extra picks, didn't get too cute by trading down again. And selected the #1 QB on their board. Going into the draft I was not focused on EJ. I would have been fine with Barkley or Nassib - at the 8th or even 16th pick.. That sure looks foolish now. They were rated in the top 5 of all mock draft boards that I saw. Nix didn't trade back again and have to select the 2nd QB off the board and then claim, ".... he was our guy all along." We wouldn't have believed him and we would have been screaming that Nix screwed us again.

Well played Buddy. But OBD has no excuses now. You got the guy you wanted. Now we'll see if the coaching staff is as good as they claim.

  3. I don't hate the pick. Big arm, mobile, healthy, and some of his flaws might be coachable. My major concern is his accuracy is described as above average but not great but not great and his mechanics need some work. I keep hearing that mechanics are coachable but in recent years few QB's have been able to change mechanics. Throw in that his accuracy might be a concern and I am officially wait and see on this guy.

I would have loved this pick had the Bills been able to trade down just a few more picks. Trade down to the early to mid 20's pick up a extra 2nd or 3rd and another late rounder and it would have helped this team a lot. Still loved the original trade down.

the thing I respect the most is that the Bills traded back, got the extra picks -- then didn't get cute. Imagine if they had traded back again and ANY quarterback was then taken. The board would have crashed -- wait it did-- and we would have criticized OBD for getting the 2nd best QB. Buddy would have come on and said the typical, "he (EJ) was our guy all along." And NO ONE would have believed him. Now we know. EJ was their guy all along. And I can now believe him.

Buddy, et al, went all in. They took a small gamble, it payed off, and didn't try to push their luck.

  4. the theory would be we save a few million a year so its levitre (8m) and the pick (5m) VS warmack (5m) AND another player or two (8m).

say we decided to go LB with the extra dollars - would you rather have levitre and jarvis jones for example, or Warmack and Lawson and Dansby.

I like Dansby. (Did he sign by the way?) But he is 31. Since you asked, I'd prefer Levitre and Jones.

  5. This is the stuff that drives me crazy. We had a guy, who was good -- not great -- but solid at the position. He walks, we get nothing, and then we spend a top 10 pick on his replacement. How does this make the team better? Had we kept the guy, then we could have addressed another position making the team better.

I have nothing against Chance Warmack. But this if this is the pick, I will need serious counseling.

  6. Fitz backed him up in Cincinnati. As I recall, Fitz called Cason something along the line of a practice hog, as in he took ALL of the reps. Not the kind of guy to bring in if you are planning to draft a QB this year or next. I like Palmer, I think he'd be an upgrade for us. But I think he's a bad fit for us, even at a bargain price.

  7. I too watched the game live on CTV with a buddy. It seems to me it was late afternoon, or early evening game. I remember we stood for the last half of the 3rd period. No way we could sit down -- too excited. After the game we went out to our favorite sports bar/watering hole and enjoyed watching the game again. As I recall, that game got us to the medal round. We didn't win the gold with that game, but we never would have won gold without that win.

Aside from the comeback game vs Houston, that may have been my best sports moment.
