  1. im pretty sure that cody will eat himself out of the NFL, but when we had great NTs, i dont remember anyone running around saying that they were great physical specimans of man. i think id rather have cody than cam thomas. hes getting a lot of hype since the senior bowl, but he was inconsistent his entire college career. it just goes to show what what 1 good game can do. either way, theyre professional scouts, and were fans. if either of those two ways were how it turned out, i would be happy. addressing points of need with quality players. done and done!
  2. people bashing him for being underweight, but if you looked at the other qbs in the draft, theyre all around his weight. people were looking at the rams to draft bradford at #1 overall before the combine. he put on 23 pounds in the last 6 months since he played a snap, increasing his playing weight from 213 to 236, and theyre within an inch height of eachother. if youre going to bash pike, it should be for his arm strength. dont forget, in edwards second year, he put on a lot of weight as well. during the offseason you need to be able to run a lot of silly drills to get yourself drafted. then take about a year to get into "playing" shape. personally, i love pike. hes a tall guy, who played in the snow up in cinci. he led a comeback in a championship game, in hostile teritory (pitt), in terrible weather, by using his arm. its not a cannon by any means, but he can make every throw in the NFL to keep the defense honest. Plus, as an added bonus, you can get him in the third and still be able to address your other needs at NT and LT if you wanted.
  3. wait im confused. what do people like about colt mccoy? is it his terrible arm strength? is it his college scheme where he hasnt had to make a read on a defense ever? not taking snaps under center? poor deep ball and out patterns? poor footwork? honestly, i think people just like him because he has a big name. if youre going to draft a guy in the second round based on his name, and completely disreguarding any of the skill sets you need to play at the NFL level, just take tebow. he has a much better arm, better frame, and has been going crazy this offseason to make himself a better NFL style qb. i, however, dont like either, in any round, but if the bills took tebow, id know at least he has a high cieling and one day is probably going to be a starting caliber nfl QB, a la leftwich.
  4. i liked meredith at both LT and RT last season. he was at the very least, adequate. id like to improve at the LT position for sure, but i didnt mind him one bit. also, i just really dont think brown is the answer for anything but wildcat. he overthrows wide open receivers, hes really not smart (yeah, im sorry but its just true), and hes not the best decision maker. what were his stats again? like 11 tds 9 ints? i think you can go your route and take a better prospect with either pike/snead or lefevour being available at the exact same spot you take brown.
  5. evans? moulds? who even threw them a ball either? was andre reed that great, or was jim kelly that great? it takes two to become great. problem is that both moulds and evans had next to nothing at QB in thier football lives and looked really solid.
  6. anthony davis isnt worth the #9 overall. i dont like buluga, but if hes there, id take him. if were drafting the 4th best OT at #9, there was a run at that position, and you can either land clausen/bradford or the best talent at a def position (berry?/McClain/Williams). so yeah, the #9 pick is poor. i suppose im fine with OLB in round two. hes a good player. Jeff owens is a tiny DT. hes not a NT, he had brutal knee surgery he didnt recover well from, and why do we need another 4-3 DT on our team? i guess capers is a fine choice for the 4th, though i think you can do better. same with sharpton, but i like the idea of getting a solid ILB in the 5th. who cares about rounds 6 and 7 really as theyre not supposed to do anything in the nfl, but i like the choices outside of brown. then again, in 2-3 years, he could develop into a good player. dumb as a doornail, so i dont think hell ever be anything more than a wildcat guy.
  7. if that was our draft, id be down right excited. its not filled with names of people i loved or anything, it just adresses almost all of our needs in good order, with quality players. dont get me wrong, im not running out and buying a jersey, but its still a good draft. though, i think the rams are apparently targetting bradford, but QBs have been slipping for years now.
  8. not that i agree with wilson being better than whitner, but both of them are better than taylor mays. when i see people get excited about him im like, oh cool, so you dont know anything about football right?
  9. yeah, i honestly dont care either way about whitehurst, but i do know that edwards/fitz arent the answer. id rather go into a season with Brohm, Whitehurst, and a rookie we drafted in the third round or later instead of what we have. i suppose the most realistic thing that would make me happy is: 1. Brohm 2. Fitzpatrick 3. Whitehurst let them battle it out and see who between brohm and whitehurst can win the starting job. i dont even look at fitzpatrick as anything more than a stopper. if both guys show they cant compete, i throw in fitz, cut both other qbs at the end of the season and hope to draft mallett in 11.
  10. what they really should do is not force anything. in FA, you sign them based on value, and position of need. just because you need a NT doesnt mean you pay a B-Class NT a ton of money because you need a new one. you can upgrade positions like LB through FA since they are a dime a dozen these days. same thing holds true for the draft in my opinion. it actually puts the scouts/GM in a good place. its clear the bills need a new LT, but if the top 2-3 are gone by 9, you dont need to force a subpar OT in at that position. you can use that pick to fill literally, 15 other pressing needs. we need upgrades at NT-QB-WR-TE-LT-RT-LB-DE. the only things we dont HAVE to fill are RB, safety, and corner. so if that LT you need is gone at 9, go for a QB. if the top 2 are gone, go for the #1 LB or #1 NT in the draft. taking a great player at a position of need is never a bad thing, wether its on offense or defense.
  11. that was exactly what i was thinking. im not going to argue which one looked better, wholl be the better pro, yadda yadda. thats all talent around them and scheme in the pros. however, it even said from highlights ive watched. not games, highlights. he doesnt mention the fact that it isnt a problem of not taking snaps under center. its playing in a spread offense. brradford took some snaps from center, unlike tebow who is struggling at that. bradford played in with better talent around him, with one of the best lines in 2008. when he didnt have the best line in 2009, he got destroyed. also, i havent read anywhere that he put on 20 lbs of muscle, but what else are you going to do when you havent played football in 6 months? also, clausen played in a pro style offense, making defensive reads every game out. he had better stats that bradford did in the categories that guy listed. im not going to argue that one of thier spirals is nicer, but boller threw the tightest spiral 80 yards that anyones ever seen. how did that work out? finally, im hoping the bills draft bradford, not clausen. next to ohio state, theres no team i hate more than the fighting irish. saying that, i just dont get all the clausen hate. hes the best statistical junior to come out of college football ever and thats not even up for debate. he also did it behind a trash line. if the bills drafted clausen id be happy, i just wouldnt run out and get a jersey. either QB is a drastic upgrade to whatever we have here, and i think both are going to suceed. i would just deduct that from watching thier games that bradford has a higher ceiling, and clausen can step in right away. then again, if youre not drafting on potential, you take clausen who is a safer bet.
  12. yeah, god i hate players who think theyre good. i prefer dudes who mope around on the field, thinking theyre terrible. i understand people dislike maybin, and he didnt produce in his first season, but from the day we drafted him, it was said he was a project that would be ready 2-3 years down the line. i wouldnt have taken schobel off the field this season for maybin, and then where does he go? hes not a run stuffing LDE. he would get eaten alive but the much larger RTs in the league. anyways, well see what happens with him the next few years.
  13. the first 6 picks we make are lineman? four of them being offense, and 2 being defense. include the two we took in rounds 1-2 last year, and that makes 5 picks at OL in the past two years in the first 4 rounds. that would be a terrible draft. we didnt address any needs anywhere but line. not saying our line doesnt need an upgrade, but be picky, and dont force the issue. we dont even have enough spots to have that many guys, and we cant draft for depth when we need players to fit in a 3-4 defense. in that draft, you dont have us taking a LB until the 7th round, no QB (which i suppose is fine as some people dont want one), and a WR with our last 6th round pick. good teams take the BPA, bad teams force the issue and draft position. also, look at the past few superbowl teams. they didnt have dominating offensive lines. the only team with a great line (imo) that made it deep in the playoffs, traded up and drafted a QB. the o-line can get you only so far without a QB of the future, which we DONT have. i also like building the defense more than i like the o-line. if you had an amazing d-line, with our secondary, i think that would take us into the playoffs. i know our offense is pretty bad, but if were constantly getting pressure on the QB, forcing turnovers, and winning hte field position game, i think a team can put together some good wins. basically, i give it a 6. decent players, forcing an issue.
