  1. Pro athletes need to take the most they can in every negotiation. Brees owes it to himself and his family to make as much as possible. He's an MVP caliber QB with a Superbowl ring--you have a number and you don't settle for a penny less. Call it greed and selfishness if you will; but the owners didn't become billionaires by taking less. A pro athlete is a corporation, and as such its duty is to maximize profits. If a corporation is leaving money on the table and not maxing out its potential profits it's shareholders can sue. Corporations are amoral they are legally people but are not subject to the same morality as you or I. A corp only acts in the interests of profits and the shareholders. I don't see why players should be any different when it comes to contracts and money
  2. I like this iteration of the Bills I feel, even after today, that they could make the playoffs. They just need to put together full games. They should've brought in a consultant at the end of the Jauron era and tried to move forward with a solid central philosophy (we are going to be X). The under lying issue of it all, the common denominator, is Wilson. You can't attract the Shanahans, Schottenheimers, Cowerds, or top flight GMs when the future of the franchise is completely unknown. It's not about the man being cheap, its not about him being a dotard, its about the succession plan being an unknown. Why would A+ talent and people come in only to be swept away after the regime changes?
  3. According to Barnwell the Bills are potentially in a position of trouble when it comes to making it to the cap floor. The Bills should focus on making sure guys like Freddy, McKelvin, and Levitre are locked up and happy and not make the mistake of overpaying for mid-tier guys (a la Derrick Dockery). He says that the Bills should lay low. The only situation the Bills should sign a free agent in Barnwell's mind is dropping 40 mil into the wallet of Super Mario. http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/19724/free-agent-countdown-teams-that-should-lay-low
  4. I'm tired of always having to find skill players with perfectly good skill players on the roster. Did anyone see the games that Marshawn and Willis had today--not bad. Does anyone think a platoon with Freddy and Marshawn would be much worse than a platoon with Freddy and CJ? I think we should sign him and try to get another big receiver in the first three rounds. Stevie acts like a d-bag sometimes but he is ultimately a talented wideout with some chemistry with Fitz. I know we don't want the FO to spend money unwisely but we have to start spending money to get some better depth players. I still think the Handgartner thing is inexcusable. I worry that letting Stevie go is creating a future area of need--Stevie and Nelson are good building blocks for the future why start from scratch?
  5. I too thought that this Pats team was too high powered for the Bills to keep up. Love that they won and broke the losing skid in a meaningful game. It wouldn't have been as nice if the Bills had beat the Pats late last season with no chance of going into the post season. While, there is a lot of football left this year, maybe this win proves to be the difference for a playoff spot or a wild card. Heck we might still fall apart (I'm still kind of wary from the Jauron years) but what an exciting start to the season. I am really impressed with this squad especially David Nelson. GO BILLS
  6. For a guy that worked in media, Barber should know better than to ever invoke the holocaust-Period. Sure it's a little much from Foxman because Barber is likely not an anti-semite. He is clearly just bad guy with bad judgement. Reverse Anne Frank? WTF does that even mean--not funny Tiki just more stupidity.
  7. I find Eisen and the LA centric NFL network to be quite biased on Phillip Rivers and the Bolts. They are a good team and he has potential to be a historically great QB--but really what have they done? They always underachieve early on and upset the Colts in the first round only to be bounced. This is I believe sympomatic of the laziness of a lot of NFL pundits. Really the NFL media is like a massive echo chamber. 1. Josh Freeman is the next big thing. 2. The Lions are going to be better than the Vikings. 3. The worst teams are Buffalo and Cinci. All I need is a twitter account and a few assistant GM's email addresses and I could work for ESPN.
  8. After last week when the Broncos looked like they were really into it and fired up and the Bills looked flat, it's nice to see that they showed some pluck this week and went for the win even when the only meaning to the game is pride.
  9. I agree with most people that we are not the 2nd worst team in the league. I think we will show some pluck this year and shock a couple of teams and maybe win 7 or 8. I try to give Prisco some respect--but come on. He must have done something to get his job as a columnist for CBS but I can't fathom what it is. His comment about the Bills is so weak and contradictory. He says Galley will have to work hard for this team to be .500. If the Bills are .500 wouldn't they be about 15th on the power rankings? So many of these supposed NFL experts are really lazy and do little of the digging--I really believe that you can look at the draft order and put out preseason rankings exactly the same.
  10. I say why not? The NFL had had many players that have taken an unconventional route to success (from Kurt Warner, to Gannon, to Freddy Jackson) Maybe Fitzpatrick will ultimately be a bonafide starter as opposed to a Kitna/Dilfer stop gap game manager type of guy.
  11. I logically don't think the Bills are the worst-and I am legitimately surprised at how many people in the media and on Facebook that think the Bills are the absolute worst team this year. The Panthers and the Bengals in my opinion are worse.
  12. Too True. I guess I'm just thinking that we might not be the worst team in the AFC east this year let alone the league. I guess I just think back to the games we should have won... against the Steelers, Chiefs, and Ravens. I see a team that while not very good, didn't quit and showed a lot of pluck. I am optimistic that we will be in a lot of games and not get blown out the way the worst team in the league tend to.
  13. I follow ESPN NFL countdown on Facebook and I am pretty blown away at how many people think the Bills are going to be the worst team in the NFL this year. I am hopeful that we could challenge for a wild card spot but realistically I think this team is still growing and probably will win about 7 games. Do people think the Bills stink because of an anti-Buffalo bias or is it the multiple cheap shots from lazy NFL punditry? Who is the worst team in the league this year? I don't think any of the AFC east teams are in the bottom 5. I personally think that the 49ers, Bengals, and Carolina will be the bottom three. https://www.facebook.com/ESPNCountdown/posts/116229525142090
  14. http://gregg-doyel.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/5881996/31124530 The title says it all...Donte Whitner is a bad guy.
  15. The big story here, I think, is that the Ravens have a plan in place. They know which players they don't want and have cut them. What is the Bills plan and why haven't they cut any players? This is the entire off-season in about 24 hours you better believe that the teams with elite front offices are ready and have a strategy. I hope the Bills have developed some kind of plan.
  16. Anybody bring up OJ in the context of this topic? Not to excuse his behavior--but it could be that Simpson has impaired brain function due to too many head shots. This could be seen as a contributing factor to his behavior--both in the context of Nicole and Ron Goldman and the later botched armed robbery. What do you think?
  17. I'm not sure anyone has mentioned this yet but, do the Steinbrenner's have to pay an estate tax on the Yankees? According to an article I read they do not because George lived in Florida where there is no estate tax. Isn't the estate tax a major stumbling block with the Bills? Why doesn't ol Ralph just move to Fort Myers? I'm sure he could rent a nice trailer for cheap http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/world/...2424/story.html
  18. Barring an unexpected trade for Vick, I just don't see anyone but Edwards starting out the season. I'm not a huge Edwards supporter but Fitz--child please--this guy is worse than Holcomb. At least Holcomb would have the occasional monster game. Fitz has the occasional good game at best. I think Nevergiveup will be right and Edwards is the guy for now. I wouldn't be surprised if Brohm was cut--there is a reason he was on the practice squad in Greenbay.
