  1. "After not seeing the playoffs in over 13 years the Buffalo Bills lose to the Patriots in the first round 70-19 after Brady throws for an NFL playoff record 10 TDs."
  2. Thank you. I'm just saying that drafting Patterson in one will help fill a serious void, a WR that can make plays, even when covered. Drafting Patterson that early is not very ideal, but grabbing a WR now with his caliber will help what ever QB we draft in next year's first round. Too many people on this board don't think about the future when it comes to the draft. The answer at QB is not there in this draft, so do the smart thing and start building a strong supporting cast for him. Patterson and Kelce will provide two great weapons along side with Spiller and Johnson. Would you guys rather draft a QB early this year only to use our first round pick next year on a QB. Sure it may not make sense to be grabbing Patterson at 8 this year, but I bet you guys will love having him paired up next to Stevie next year when we draft our QB in the first round of the 2014 draft.
  3. I don't understand how trading Fred is dumb. Let's face it, the Bills are better off trading a 32 year old RB who has been banged up the past couple of years while he still has value. Let the man play for a good team and get something in return while you can. The Bills are at least 2-3 years from being a legit contender, and that's only if they are lucky enough to find a QB that can consistently win them the big games. What's the point of having Jackson stay with us, maybe he gives us another 2 productive seasons if he can stay healthy. The bottom line is Fred won't be helping us win games at the age of 34/35. Spiller proved he can be the starter, and Choice is a solid number 2 option. I'd much rather take the risk on Mathieu, the kid would instantly give us a huge threat on special teams and has shown he can cover the best athletes in college. Let Pettine work with him, in a couple of years he may turn out to be a super star return specialst and an adequate CB. In two/three years I would surely take that over a 35 year old RB, especially since Spiller showed us he can be a superstar, and there are always great backup RBs to be had in later rounds or free agency.
  4. I think you guys would be extremely happy with this, and I believe my scenario is within reason and the should be available.... Pick #8 Cordarrelle Patterson, WR Tennessee The Bills clearly need more help on offense, Nix is sneaky and recently said he really likes Easley to step up, I think he is just throwing up smoke, and if he doesn't receive a real good trade offer to move back in the 1st he will pull the trigger on Patterson here. Gives us a much needed help at the WR position and will open things up for Stevie. Pick #41 Arthur Brown, LB Kansas State The Bills can add a very talented LB that can do it all, make tackles in the backfield and drop back and cover passes. Pick #71 Travis Kelce, TE Cincinnati Many teams are in love with Kelce but I think he will be available at pick 71. He is a big athletic TE that has a physical edge and is a big time receiving threat, he also plays with a lot of passion. He was a QB coming out of high school and has strong football knowledge. Here is a highlight... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHQV9gYczGk Pick #105 Tyler Bray, QB Tennessee The Bills finally grab a QB. I don't like any of the QBs in the draft, I think we are better off letting the winner of Kolb and Jackson start this season, and I anticipate it will be Kolb. I spoke with Bray's QB coach in college and he said Bray can be one hell of an NFL QB and would have been a top pick next year had he stayed another year at Tennessee with Butch Jones and company. Let him develop as most QBs should have to do, great value in round 4. (and if he develops it won't hurt having him play with Patterson) **Trade Alert** Buffalo Trades Fred Jackson and their 6th round pick to the Green Bay Packers for pick number 122. Pick #122 Tyrann Mathieu, CB LSU His drop history and being out of football for a year has certainly hurt his value, enough to see him sitting there in the 4th so Buffalo decides they are ready for Spiller time (I think they resigned Choice for a reason). This is has freakish talent and speed, the kid can't get into too much trouble in Buffalo, value is too great to pass up. ***As for the rest of the draft I chose the best players available*** Summary: I know QB is a huge need for the Bills right now, but I don't think any of these guys are the answer, and drafting one early will just be a wasted pick (Losman or Edwards anyone?) A draft similar to this one will give Kolb something to work with on offense and Pettine some toys to play with on defense. The Bills will also boast a talented roster on offense (Spiller, Johnson, Patterson, Kelce, an offensive line that will be maturing into a very strong unit) for the QB of the future which we will draft next year, as I believe Marrone will throw the kitchen sink at getting the top QB in next year's draft. I'd much rather wait 2-3 years for a good team rather than watching the Bills try and patch together a good roster with questionable draft picks and has been free agents. Take two years to build a strong foundation through the draft then add free agents as deemed necessary. Thoughts, suggestions, corrections? Flame away.
  5. Gailey, "Hey Fitz, we're going to do something to try and throw them off, we're going to let Wannstedt call the offense for the 2nd half."
  6. I am for Whaley getting promoted but I only see that if Nix steps down, I don't think Ralph will fire him, but Whaleycould be the guy that can land the kind of coach I think Buffalo needs. As for Ralph being the issue at this point I don't agree with that. He is closing in on the end which is sad to see, but he has little to do with the football operations now a days and he has opened his checkbook and trusts Nix to make all the football decisions
  7. If the Bills really want to win it all starts with the coaching, I believe they have the talent (minus Fitzpatrick) to be a legitimate 10-12 win football team, but it all starts with the head coach. What the Bills need is a hard nose, in your face, hold you accountable, coach....because lets face it, a players coach won't work in this league full of pampered millionaires, and yes, I mean the players who feel entitled because they own 4 houses and drive a $300,000 sports car. I've seen first hand a coach that will get in a player's face, and an assistant's face, take a less talented team and win a championship, albeit not the NFL, but a major BCS conference, and he is doing it again with a team that many people expected to finish with 4-5 wins (this team is nationally ranked). The Bills need a head coach that at this point in time would have called out his defensive coordinator publicly, letting it be known that one more demoralizing effort by the defense would be the end of Wanny, hell Mike Tomlin fired his special team's coach a week into the season because he wasn't getting it done. Now I'm not saying the Bills need to hire a complete d*ck as a head coach that the players will hate, they need to find the right guy with proven experience and that gets his players to play with a fire under their ass week in and week out. A head coach that will be the first guy to give you a high five for doing things right, or at the minimum giving 110% effort even if you make a mistake, but also the first guy to grab you by the collar and let you know he won't deal with anything less than the standard he sets for the team, whether you are a player or a coach. If I'm the Bills I keep Buddy Nix as the GM because he can find talent and make the moves that will keep this team moving forward, the guy landed Mario Williams, something that God himself probably said was impossible. The Bills have the right pieces in place to be a contender and Nix brought most of those guys in, firing Nix will put the Bills back another 2-3 years because a new GM will want to make it "his" team and start a rebuilding process. The Bills need to really do their research and find a new head coach that will coach with a certain swag that will rub off on their players. The Bills need to get a younger coach that has a certain swag and a fire in his eyes, a coach that knows how to handle the big egos that come with NFL players, one that will strike fear and respect in the players at the same time. If the Bills can do that I believe that Buddy will do his justice in landing our next QB of the future, I believe he saw the short comings of Fitzpatrick coming after watching him throughout camp and the preseason so he went out and got T. Jackson. Bringing in Jackson allows the Bills to cut Fitz all together after the season giving them a solid number 2 option behind their rookie franchise QB next season, a guy that works hard and will set a good example while providing a healthy dose of competition in camp. The right head coach will inherit a good team that is loaded with talent, we just need a guy that will know how to get his players to snap and clear (make a play and forget about it as you move on to the next). With a new fiery head coach and a QB that can complete around 75% or more of his passes the Bills will truly be a team to be reckoned with. Enough with the blow everything up, keep Buddy Nix and start with a new coaching staff and I promise you this team can, and will, go far. We are better than the 49ers team that Harbaugh inherited a few years ago....just a thought from someone who has a career in football.
  8. I agree, last year our defense kept us in a lot of games, even towards the end when our offense was going 3 and out on 70% of their drives. I think a healthy Bills defense with the maturity of Aaron Williams and the addition of Mario should fall somewhere in the top 15, maybe even in the top 10 in the league. If our offense can average around 26 points per game on the season I think that will be enough for the defense to get the job done. With that said the addition of WR that can take pressure off of Stevie and stretch the field is key. Not only will it keep Stevie from being double teamed every play but it will force opposing defenses to clear the box leaving more running room for Jackson and Spiller. I say give Gailey another toy to work with and see him work his magic.
  9. I agree with the idea of adding a solid OT, but I don't see one falling to us at number 10 that would justify that pick. I would love to see a team trade up with us giving us an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick allowing us to grab an OT at the right spot in the 1st, maybe Mike Adams, although I am not sold on his work ethic. With the extra draft pick I would package that and the 4th we received for Lee Evans and move back into the first for this kid... Now we grab an OT, great WR with speed, height, and unbelievable hands, and still have picks remaining in all the rounds. I do think some teams will be very desperate to move up to the 10 spot to grab a player they love.
  10. He was in college, kids make those kind of mistakes and he seems like he has matured and learned his lesson. Here are some quotes from him. "I went out less—just kind of changed the whole environment around me. Friends. Just guys that I wouldn't have to be in that position of having to do things that would potentially put me in a troubled positions. I went to alcohol classes at school with a counselor with a whole bunch of kids from Notre Dame that were kind of going through some problems, too. It was a good experience and I liked it." "People all the time have mistakes like this. Unfortunately it happened to me on a big stage going across the nation. It's about moving forward. It's about making sure you don't make the same mistake again. And just keeping a positive head and staying on the positive side of things." At 6'3 224ish and a 4.42 40 I think the Bills need to grab this kid, he may take a year to fully develop under Gailey's offense but I am not expecting the Bills to be true contenders this year, maybe a wildcard team at best. Draft this kid and I see a very bright future for the Bills.
  11. I truly believe that Buffalo is close to being a contender in the league, they are putting the pieces together to be a power house for years to come. With the 10th pick I think the Bills need to draft Michael Floyd, WR out of ND. Buffalo needs a tall receiver that can stretch the field and go up and grab the ball away from a defender. If you watch film on the kid you will see that not only can he stretch the field and out jump defenders for the ball but he is great in the screen game and is tough going across the middle of the field. Drafting Floyd will help create competition within our receivers and help set the foundation for years to come with a good 1-2 punch with Stevie out there. Take a look at this highlight video to see for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2ZSkKwdE9I
  12. A QB coach usually helps the QB with mechanics, anywhere from their drop backs, footwork, and even ball security. They also coaches them through the playbook, i.e. where you should look to throw the ball depending on what coverage the defense is in.
  13. Bills need to save their draft picks on improving the defense and adding depth to the oline. However I would take a flyer on this kid, most likely to go undrafted and would be a great pick as a UDFA. Ran in a pro-style offense and is an above average route runner with excellent hands and goes up and gets the ball, reminds me a lot of Stevie Johnson, not the greatest speed...check him out...
  14. Exactly, If Stevie walks everyone on this board is going to go nuts. If he cant agree on a reasonable contract I would slap the tag on him, I would make him one of the top paid WR in the NFL, but idk about top 5. That's why you gotta love incentives on performance in contracts.
  15. Every year I make a draft board/ free agent moves, so here's PART ONE...and it is subject to change as we move closer to the draft. Background on myself, I am a college student studying Sports Management and I am currently a student coach for a Division 1 program, about to graduate and hope to get an NFL internship for the summer. Free Agency: Wide Receivers: 1. Let Roscoe Walk. 2. Cut Roosevelt. 3. Extend or franchise Stevie. 4. Give Fitz and Stevie something to work with, sign one of the Jacksons, Vincent or DeSean. OL: 1.Sign Bell to an extension, (Free Agent) 2. Sign Jared Gaither: hear me out, he is now starting for the Chiefs and has looked good/healthy. Provides much needed depth and skill when healthy. 3. We signed Pears today, so if Urbik doesnt take an affordable offer let him walk. (free agent) DL: 1.Cut Spencer Johnson 2. Sign John Abraham: He is getting up there in age but does still have 2-3 years of good production left, and he can help a young defense. LB: 1. Andra Davis, Kirk Morrison, and Reggie Torbor are all free agents. Would prefer to bring back Torbor for depth, let the others walk. 2. Sign Anthony Spencer: He can be had at a good price, reliable preformer on the field and an upgrade at a weak position for us. DRAFT: Now time for the fun part...its really early but I thought I would put together the first two rounds. 1. I assume we will be picking between 8-12 this year, so I propose we trade back to around 16-19 and pick up another 2nd round pick while grabbing..... 1st: ILB Vontaze Burfict from Arizona State, can be had after trading back; Burfict has great instincts, makes plays sideline to sideline and is far more disciplined than he gets credit for. Has a ton of experience and will draw comparisons to many of the elite middle linebackers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7achvXsy3Q 2nd (number 1): Mike Adams, OT from OSU. Suspended for the first few games this season due to the OSU scandal. He is a mountain of a man, 6'8 320. He plays nasty and brings toughness and has played against top level players while at OSU. He has long and powerful arms and has been extremely durable while playing both LT and RT. 2nd (number 2): Brandon Jenkins, DE from FL State. Had a huge year in 2010 but a little dip in 2011, but still played extremely well. Played DE in college and could get to the QB, has the speed and ability to play OLB for us, but I like him at end. Here are his highlights. Have not had enough time to do the other rounds, but I'll get them. Shoot away, and feel free to post your ideas.
  16. I think Nix proved that Ralph has put some trust in the GM position. Nix did the draft the way he wanted, now the next step is to convince Ralph why a few big moves like trading Evans and signing Mankins will only help make the Bills a contender. I truly think the Bills can be a contender in 2 years if they play their cards right, we are not too far away. If we can land Mankins and move Evans/Lynch for the picks I mentioned then we are in great shape already for next year. We get our QB and LT and let our new QB learn the ropes and get familiar with the new line next year. After next year I think with a first round WR, second round MLB, a key FA signing we become a contender entering our QB's second season and only grow stronger from there.
  17. I am 21 and still learning the trade, but feel like I'm pretty far ahead for people my age when it comes to this stuff. As for Belichick he doesnt really care what people think, he has the rings to do what ever he wants, and I dont think any other team will give much more than what I mentioned, so you either take the trade or let him walk for nothing next season. As for Levitre I only put him at RT for the remaining season then make my permanent switch next season as mentioned above. At this point I think the seats will be empty this season whether we keep Evans or not, you saw our offense. As for Mankins we have the budget to give him a deal that satisfies both sides, especially with money we freed up by trading Evans, good coaches know talent and if Evans is put on the block there will be a few teams battling for his services which will drive his value up.
  18. We need to build the line and find our QB before we pay a large sum for a WR
  19. Exactly why I trade Evans and make those moves, I wouldnt be throwing this season away, but at the same time as a GM you have to realize what you have and where you need to be, and for the Buffalo Bills this is the time to blow it up and start from scratch. I liked what they did for the most part with the defense and think they will be just fine and only get better in the coming years. Being a fan of the Bills I would have no problem seeing Evans leave for a 2nd, Mankins brought in, and next year we land our QB and LT. Once we can solidify our line and get our future QB we can then start to draft skill positions such as WR. My plan for the next 2 years would be to fix the line, get our QB, and get a stud MLB and WR, from there you can go pick from the free agent pool.
  20. Well the Pats are in a position where they cannot really get much for Mankins, everyone in the league knows he does not want to resign with the team, especially after the team was close to resigning him and asked him to issue a public apology, that did not sit well with him and he re-demanded a trade, not to mention he will be a UFA next year. The Pats just signed Brady to a large deal and have 2 first round picks in next years draft, and it might be the last draft before a rookie cap is installed, so draft picks will be looking for big deals. They also have to explore resigning Moss. It is a fair trade in the aspect of Buffalo having to give up some cash to sign him, we take him off the Pats hands, they get a high 3rd round pick, and most likely take Youboty which will help strengthen their terrible secondary this season, they showed us they need help stopping the pass if they hope to make it to the Super Bowl this year.
  21. A little background on myself, I am currently a head manager of a D1 college football team and working my way up in hopes of becoming a GM in the NFL one day. The last time the Bills made the playoffs I was 11 years old so my LIFE goal would be to be the GM of the Bills one day and help make them a champion. Im going to play GM here and see what you guys think, now I beleive sometimes you have to make some ballsie moves if you're a GM in the NFL. My first move I make is to see if the Vikings are interested in Lee Evans for a 2nd round pick, they are desperate for a WR and he is just rotting on our roster. I then see if the Seahawks are still interested in Lynch, Jackson is still good for another 3-4 years and we can use him and Spiller and let Bell develope as a 3rd stringer. If the Seahawks are still interested I send lynch there was for their 3rd, and will probably have to send them a 6th ontop of it. This is where I make a move for Logan Mankins with the Pats, with our depth at CB and the Pats need for secondary I give them their choice of Youboty or Corner and a 3rd round pick. With Mankins now in the fold I will try and give him a 5 year contract worth around 28-30 million with about 12-15 million gaurenteed. I put him in at Left Guard, move Levitre to RT, bench Green for depth, slide Wood over to center, and put Hangartner at Gaurd, a position better suited for him and one he played in college and spent time there with Carolina. For the rest of the year our Oline will look Bell, Mankins, Wood, Hangartner, Levitre. Now I sit pat until the draft where I fully expect the Bills to have their choice of the top QB in the draft. With their first pick I take the best available QB, hopefully Andrew Luck, Stanford. I then try and package both of our 2nd round picks to move back into the mid range first and grab our LT. With our 3rd I grab the best available MLB or WR and try and find gems in the later rounds. Normally Im not a big fan of starting a rookie QB the first year, but I think with Spiller and Jackson in the back field we can start Luck day one and let Gailey work his magic with the QB. With our new LT I start him there, move Bell to RT, Levitre back to gaurd, and sit Hangartner as depth. So our Oline looks like this, New LT, Mankins, Wood, Levitre, Bell. Hopefully Easley is ready to step up because trading away Evans made us weak at WR, but having Shaun Nelson at TE will help, along with Spiller and Jackson in the back field. I then give my newly formed offense a year to grow as a unit and use the following draft to pick up our star WR and truly make the Bills a contender for years to come. I think in order to succeed for the future we need to make some moves that may weaken us at first, but at this point "blowing up" might be the best means for our offense. Defense should be in good shape after the young guys we drafted last year grow, Troupe, Carrington, Maybin, ect.
  22. To sum it up its saying that the Bills could show interest in sending over a 2nd for him so they could use their #9 pick on a different position knowing they would have a proven LT
  23. Well I was thinking about moving Wood to center but I really like him at the Gaurd position. I dont think Wood would be able to hold is own against the likes of Wilfork and Jenkins throughout a whole game, but he can sure knock people on their ass while playing gaurd. Pouncey can come in and make an impact, and if Tebow does develop as I think he can it would be nice having his college center playing with him. I go to school in Ohio and can tell you many of my friends see Gibson as being a 2nd or 3rd round pick, but I think he will slip because he isnt as known as he should be. As for Shipley he had 13 TD's this past season and I believe he had 11 the season before and has been a very consistent reciever for the Long Horns over the past 4 seasons and I think he can come in and help on offense as a rookie.
  24. I can see them giving up their second if they really want Spiller. People are saying Spiller can be a game changing talent, much like Chris Johnson for the Titans. If they only had one 1st rounder they would probably be less likely to give up their second, but they may view Spiller worth the 4 spots and a second while still holding another 1st rounder.
  25. This team needs to be rebuilt, we all know that. I have only completed rounds 1-5... #9: Trade with San Fran, it seems like they really want Spiller and to ensure landing Spiller this would be the move they make, in return we get their first of 2 first round picks at #13 and #49 in the second. #13: Here we grab our LT, hopefully Trent Williams is still on the board, if not we grab Anthony Davis, either way I feel like at number 13 neither would be a reach. #41: We grab Tim Tebow, not to be our starter, unless he comes out and proves he is ready. I would prefer him to be the backup and hold the clipboard and let Gailey work his magic and help teach him the offense and develop him for next season. #49: I was tempted to grab a DT here but I went with Maurkice Pouncey, 6'5 318lbs Center from Florida. Our Oline needs to be fixed, Hangartner is a good backup at best. Let Pouncey and Hangartner battle it out. #72: The Bills grab their DT. Cam Thomas from North Carolina, 6'4 and 330lbs. Has the size for what we need at the 3/4 NT position. Him and Stroud could make a nice team in a rotation. #107: Thaddeus Gibson, a DE/OLB from Ohio State, has the size at 6'2 240 to play OLB, has good coverage skills and if Schobel does not come back he could be on the other side of Maybin with Poz and Davis in the middle, Mitchell needs to step it up. #140: Jordan Shipley, WR from Texas has been consistent while playing for the Long Horns. Stands at 6'0 190 and runs around a 4.47, could turn out to be a steal. If these players fall to us we should be in great shape, our Oline would be set for years looking like.. Williams/Davis-Levitre-POUNCEY-Wood-Green (maybe Bell is ready to play at RT). Not built for instant success but give that line a couple of years to develop and build chemistry it will be dominate for years. Dont be too brutal....
