  1. They both have, in the past. Fitz has been known to say "its on me, I have to be better" and Gailey has been known to wish he had play calls back and say it's on him that the team isn't prepared or the like.

I got to wonder sometimes which game other people are watching.

    Here's what I saw:

-in the first quarter, Fitz was 5-12 for 65 yds with 2 drops, a ball batted at the line, and an overthrow. I counted 7 rushing attempts for 35 yds. Both passing and running game working against good D. 7 points scored. Fitz had time to throw. Not great, but not awful and a couple of caught balls away from being decent.

-in the 2nd quarter, Wood left the game. Urbik moved to center, Rhinehart came in at guard. I wasn't clear on what happened at RT. Fitz was promptly sacked, and the Steelers were all over him like a cheap blanket. He had less time to throw, and the throws he made were either "throw it away" or off-target - often hit while he threw.

So my concern for the offense can be summarized in this point by a two word question: "Got Wood?"

"The Defense is working just fine"

-after the Spiller fumble, they failed to get the stop. Mistakes will happen. It's the D's job to keep them from turning into 7

-at the end of the 1st half, Pitt had 3rd and 9 on the Pitt 1 yrd line. There was NO pressure on that play, Roeth had all day to throw and he did his thing.

If letting a team come back from a 3-9 hole in the endzone to march 99 yds for a touch is your idea of "the D is working just fine" all I can say is it isn't mine.

I don't know as I blame the players - it seems to me that Wannstache called some stupid prevent thing designed to give up the short pass but contain, because there had been fantastic pressure and all of a sudden there was no pressure at all. But there is no excuse for that kind of D.

    How do you know that?

I didn't see that at all. There were points where Fitz was threading it (Chandler drop - ball went right into his hands).

There were two times when the ball got to a spot that was 3 feet shifted from where SJ was, or when he still had his back turned when the ball arrived and the announcer commented that it was a miscommunication between Fitz and the receiver. The second time SJ turned around with his hands splayed out in a "what are you thinking?" gesture. I couldn't tell what side the miscue was on, but it was definitely a miscue and not inaccuracy.

What I saw was that after the 1st Q, with two starters (maybe 3) on the OL replaced, Fitz had no freaking time and was being hit while he threw.

In all seriousness... this is too accurate and rational to work around here.

  2. Bubba Watson... "Never taken a lesson and never even watched my swing on video or had any video analysis of my swing" - he's won a major and a score of other events...great golfer and what does he say? "I'm a feel player"... that could be Fitzy. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

    +1. Beat me to it.

Also said if he ever took a lesson the game wouldn't be fun for him anymore and he'd likely quit.

  3. Quick recap of Fred on The Blitz; sorry for any typos...

    -----

    Jim Miller: Congrats! Feels good?

Freddy: It does feel good. Good to get it done now so we can focus on football. Excited to be here. Great moves in offseason, we're all excited. Great fan base; thanks to agent, thanks to Buddy and Ralph.

Rich Gannon: Seems like it took forever, you were having a great season; what took so long?

FJ: I think they just had some other FA's they needed to take care of; also some guys like Mario. I knew that, and Buddy told me we would get something done.

JM: I love seeing good guys get rewarded, all you do is produce! Talk about the chip on your shoulder.

FJ: IT's one of those things, early in my career I was told I wasn't good enough. Someone finally took a chance and now I don't want to let them down. I want to show every week it's a great investment to have me here. I don't like being told I can't do something, so it's fun to show I can do it.

RG: Unbelievable story, out of Coe College, arena football... tell your story.

FJ: Worked out with GB, Broncos, Bears, all said I wasn't good enough. GB scout told me to get more film so I went indoors. Met Coach Levy and he followed my career, he gave me a workout and took advantage.

JM: Talk about the offseason, a positive vibe around the Bills:

It's exciting... buzz in the locker room. We know the signings mean nothing, we need to play football, but the pieces are coming into place... some additions + the draft, it can help us get to the next level. Not gonna be easy, but we've got an opportunity to make some plays.

RG: 4-1 start, scoring a lot, struggled after the bye... but defense was bad. Feel better about the D?

FJ: Scouting dept did a great job in FA. Mario is going to be a great addition. Can change things on the field. We love it on offense. He's going to create short fields, more possessions. More opporunities to score points. Great additions on D. We're excited.

JM: Showed ability to score points next year; big tackle Cordy Glenn, TJ Graham speedy, where is the offense headed?

FJ: We feel like it's all on us to go to the next level. More than anything, allows for us to get everyone back together, be consistent, getting everyone back allows us to go make plays. Coach does a great job, they're working their butts off, we're looking forward to it.

RG: How you feeling with your leg?

100%. It was a BS break, non weight bearing bone. Could walk after 2 weeks. 100% now, training, weights, everything like normal. Very excited about everything.

  4. Flynn did great today against a good Lions D. He almost beat the Pats last season. The dude is prototype across the board. Is he a sure bet? No. But is he easier to get than a rookie and would I take him over an prospect except Luck? Yes. The guy isn't going to get a huge offer and I'd be okay throwing a 3 year, 5 mil per at him.

3 year, 5 per? You're crazy. He'll get Cassel money, minimum.
