  1. No question Promo, but...how involved were they (Whiz and Grimm) in bringing in Kolb? I don't know and I'm sure that their public statements will all be very positive on the trade. I see too much of what this franchise has been through. Definite case of the heebie jeebies.

The word is that Whiz had is hand in way too many of the personnel decisions and that's what did him in. So I would assume that he had a lot to do with bringing in Kolb. I just don't see Whiz as an upgrade.

Devils advocate though, the thought seems to be that Whiz wouldn't have any hand (or as much) in personnel decisions here with Whaley/Nix handling that, and that if he focused on coaching he would be much better. Not sure if I agree, but, it's something to think about.

  2. I'm as big of a Bills optimist as they come. I'm still upset they couldn't make it work with Chan. But if we "settle" for Whisenhunt without finishing out a search, I'd be really disappointed. At first uneducated glance, I'd rather go with Marrone or Lovie. Hated the "punt inside the 40" stat I saw today about Whis, although of course it doesn't tell the whole story.

Anyone know what kind of guy Whisenhunt is? Good guy?

  3. As others have said, if you want Bill you also get Chris- and he's shown an inability to evaluate talent OR act like a professional.

On top of that you probably say goodbye to Whaley.

Not the best move to bring Bill in IMO. Hope it's not the case.

  4. We'll be there but I'm not sure where we're setting up yet. I think our friends we're meeting up with are trying to get a hold of Kenny.

If anyone heads out to a bar downtown on Saturday night, the wife and I might try to meet up... but you'll have to be seen with me and my Leodis jersey! Go bills!

  5. My only problem with Lil' Donte is before last season, when seemingly no one was calling him (before the "who dey" tweet fiasco), he started twittering to fans and former Bills teammates about how much he wanted to come back, about how this is where he wanted to be.

If the coaches were putting himself in such bad situations... I wouldn't want to come back if I were him. Funny how he says all this now that he's gone.

  6. If I were a betting man (well, I am) I would say the main reason Jones is in the slot over Naaman, Roscoe, or anyone else, is that they love his ability to block. It's no secret that they were trying to get Nelson up to speed on blocking this summer and use his size to put him as a bit of a tight end type to get mismatches. In fact, that's how he got injured early in camp, in blocking drills.

So, on top of the fact that they love Jones blocking and the fact that he knows the entire playbook, the others simply can't do what the Bills expect out of their "slot" receiver, which as Pat Kirwan gushed about during TC, is actually more of a second TE than your every day definition of a "slot" receiver. Think David Nelson, not Wes Welker and definitely not Naaman.
