1. Last year the Bills tried at least one of the plays from the movie. Bledsoe was walking off the field in disgust as if the was going to take a time out, then the ball was hiked to Mcgahee. Didn't really get much out of it as I recall. Seem to remember another play from the movie was used at some point during the year but can't recall what it was.

  2. I like to look back at drafts & see who panned out and who didn't.  2001 was a classic & I'll always be greatful the Fish passed on Drew Brees in the first round.

The Bills were sitting @ #14 and I was keeping my fingers crossed they would pick offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson.  Well, they traded down to #21 & picked Nate Clemens and also landed Travis Henry with the pick the Bucs threw in...not bad.

But today when I see Hutchinson opening holes for Shaun Alexander I wish he was a Bill and Willis was running through that hole.

The tackle we coveted in 2001 was Kenyatta Walker, though he was still on the board when we traded the pick to Tampa Bay, who picked him. If Marcus Stroud hadn't gone one pick earlier douby we would have traded down.

  3. WOW. What a draft and two of them were in the 2nd rd. after that brilliant trade up.

No wonder this team stinks. Please list the rest of TD's drafts.

  4. Any insights would be appreciated. 48 years old, bachelor, but when I visit friends they tell me I have been sleepwalking. Last night was the first time I have ever woke up in a different place then where I went to sleep. Think it's getting worse. For the most part it seems to happen when I drink. Don't drink at all during the work week but I'm probably a text book "weekend" (ie binge) alcoholic. If you know anything about this would appreciate your comments.

  5. 48 years old here. Do rigorous cardio 6 days a week, mild to moderate weight lifting 4-5 times a week. Drink heavily at least once a week and moderately twice more. Eat pretty healthy most of the time. Weigh what I did in high school. Don't know how you maintain your weight without working out, but you got to find a way to work it back into your routine.

  6. ...

    48 years old

Put a lot of effort into everything I do

    drink twice a week

work out six days a week

    Still have six pack abs

Still get hangovers twice a week.

Best cure for the hangover is vicaden(?sp)

  7. Worst trade:  Lamonica.  Hands down.

Best trade:  Sending OJ Simpson to San Francisco in 1978.  The Juice was washed up at the time, but we managed to get SF's 1979 first-rounder for him.  That turned out to be the #1 pick in the whole draft, which we used to select OSU's Tom Cousineau -- who promptly bolted for the CFL.  But when he returned in 1983, we sent his rights to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for their first-rounder... which we used to select Jim Kelly.  So the deal was basically a washed-up HOF running back for a young future HOF quarterback.  Not a bad deal if you don't mind waiting eight years for the payoff (Kelly didn't come to Buffalo until 1986).

    305581

Don't forget we also got San Francisco's 2nd round pick in 1980 which we used on Joe Cribbs, who had a few good seasons for the Bills before bolting for the USFL.

  8. Is it true that Williams is not showing up for offseason workouts?  For the amount the Bills are paying him, he should be there.  We can't go through the same thing with him this year as we did last year.  He needs to be in Buffalo working out and staying trim.

    294588

Agreed, he makes way to much to have a good second half of the season.

  9. LT: Mike Williams

    LG: Anderson

    C: Ross Tucker

    RG: Justin Bannan

    RT: Chris Villareal

this would allow the versatile Teague to be a swing man, backing up at every position, and some tacle eligible plays...should really boost the running game too.

    294586

Do what you want at center and with the left side. Please don't mess with the right side (if it ain't broke, don't fix it!)

  10. Here are the 2nd round draft picks for the past 15 years that the bills have had a pick in that round (no second round pick in 04 or 89)

    03 Chris Kelsay

    02 Josh Reed, Ryan Denney

    01 Aaron Schobel, Travis Henry

    00 Travares Tillman

    99 Peerles Price

98 Sam Cowart (no first round pick)

    97 Marcellus Wiley

    96 Gabe Northern

    95 Todd Collins

94 Bucky Brooks, Lonnie Johnson, Sam Rogers

    93 John Parrella

    92 James Patton

    91 Phil Hansen

    90 Carwell Gardner

89 No first or second, Don Beebe was the bills first pick, third round

88 Thurman Thomas (no first round pick)

88 amd 98 with no first round picks the scouts found studs in the second, didn't do bad without a first or second in 89 either. It looked as though we wouldn't have a first round pick in 03 until a pre draft trade sent Price to Atlanta for their first round pick. Collectively the scouts get an A for their first picks in those years. For the remainder of the second round picks its a generous C.

Hope they do as good a job this year as in the others that we haven't had a first round pick.

For those who don't remember the bills traded the 88 & 89 first round, 89 second round, plus Gregg Bell for Cornellius Bennet. The 98 first and fourth round picks were traded for Rob Johnson (thanks for the reminder). The 03 first round pick was traded for Drew.

  11. ...  Now if TD is adamant about a 2nd rounder at least and no one offers one, Travis won't get traded before the draft.  But like Gordon, he could be traded later-on for a 2nd rounder next year.

    215096

Exactly. Once the season starts, somone's starting running back is going to get injured. At that point Henry won't be a big hit to that team's cap and will fill a need, should be worth a second rounder.

  12. I think the Bills will do the right thing and keep Travis thru his contract. He's worth more to the Bills as a backup in 2005 than he will fetch in a trade. There are a lotta good backs in this draft. Better than last year by far. Nobody would give us even a 3rd for a 1 year contract for travis henry.

    181103

Won't get much for a trade prior to the draft, however someone is going to go down after the season starts and prior to the trade deadline in October. Might get a third rounder under that scenario.

  13. And he's had good players too. Yet every year they quit on him. Not what you want in a coach no matter what level.

    Pass on Has

    129730

There is a reason the Saints have almost always been terrible, that there teams always seem to quit.

    Not from lack of talent.

Ever been to New Orleans? Almost impossible to focus on football for an entire season living in that atmosphere. Haslett was a good coordinator at Pittsburgh, and has had as much success at New Orleans as anyone (just my impression, don't have the stats in front of me to support that)

  14. Of course i also am planning on starting to excersize,

Don't plan to start exercising, START!!

Find a time that fits into your routine. If you're a morning person, work out first thing. If you're not a morning person, don't make that your time for exercise, you'll never last more than a couple weeks.

You'll find the meal that corresponds to your exercise routine is smaller. I work out during my lunch hour (and a half) every day. My lunch is a salad and yogurt, piece of fruit for a snack in the afternoon. If you're not as fortunate as me to have the luxury of a long lunch, and you're not a morning person, work out as soon as work is over. Don't wait until after dinner, it won't last long (as with trying to work out in the morning if you're not a morning person). This time of year is especially tough to lose for 2 reasons:

    1) Its cold. Your body's natural defense to being cold is fat. The way it tries to add fat is by making you hungry.

    2) The holidays. Darn near impossible to resis pumpkin pie and xmas cookies.

So...don't beat yourself up if you don't meat an arbitrary goal by Jan 15th. More important to be on a road to good health. The best way is to eat better and exercise.

Oh, by the way, don't try to get in olympic shape the first week.

Think about how long it took to get you where you're at, probably take more than a couple months to get to where you want to be.
