If I had to guess I'd say the the conversation he had with Wilson a couple of weeks ago saved his spot on the team. I'm guessing he expressed his concern over the clusterfug that the Bills have become. I think Ralphy agreed and told him there would be a house cleaning at the end of the season.

This quote is solid evidence that Mularkey has lost the confidence of this football team. This is why they struggle late and continue to do stupid things that lose games. It's what seperates the champions from the chumps. It's the same reason the the Patriots are so damn good, it's because every player on that team believes Bellichek's word is gospel. It's not questioned and it's not doubted. When they're told to do something they take it upon themselves to get it done. If Villarrial said this, others are thinking it. There's more self doubt on that team than any of us could ever imagine. Thank god Ralph's got the broom out.

I found this gem on the Bills website, it's from last weeks fan Q&A. I was a fan of Donahoe's up until this season but it's clear to me this team is going nowhere with him running the show. Jeff Patchen (Ludlow, MA): You are obviously struggling with getting the team some offensive linemen who can do the job, what are you going to do about it the rest of the year and next year? Isn't Ross Tucker still available? Tom Donahoe: Our personnel department has done a good job of addressing the offensive line every year over the last three off-seasons. It has been addressed in the draft and with some quality free agents. We will continue to work to get our offensive line exactly where we want it. We are making progress, but we are not where we want to be. Ross Tucker was with us in training camp and did a good job for us last year, but in our estimation we had better players on the roster to keep for this season.

It's amazing how easy it is to be intuitive 4 years after the draft. The list of 1st round flops is longer than the list of 1st round pro-bowlers. The draft is a crap shoot at best.

You're right in many respects Bill but I fear we are heading down the path to becoming an Arizona level franchise. Keep in mind there's also a whole lot of frustration boiling up inside me. I took this from Mark Gaughan's article in the Buffalo News. It' pretty much sums up where we are as a team and shines the light on what will likely happen the rest of the year. How bout this. Let's say we scrap the zone blitzes and the zone coverage schemes. No one is afraid of them and they're ineffective. Let's say we forget the 5 yard slant to Moulds or the two yard out to Campbell. Let's just give the ball to McGahee 25-30 times a game and air it out the rest. Wouldn't it be refreshing to see our football team actually line up and play football rather than trying to outsmart everyone? This team is going nowhere and they're going there fast. Holcomb isn't the answer, he's merely a band-aid on a severed limb.

I've been asking myself the this question ever since the "braintrust" at OBD announced it. Can someone please explain to me how 8-8 with Holcomb helps us more than 7-9 with JP using this year as a valuable learning experience?
