  1. For me the allure is christmas morning. This is THE best chance the Bills have to get better. When they are on an even playing field with other teams for talent. This isn't free agency where the highest bidder or nicest weather gets the player. This is like a bunch of kids lined up against the wall in the school yard with 32 captains picking teams. Instantly upon being selected I want to know everything about that player bc I will be rooting hard for him this falland hopefully for many years to come. The predraft process is because I want to be on board with what they do. I have my favorites (Barkley) and my "rankings" and I like to see how I stack up against the pros. This is my favorite day of the offseason. The day when it turns from who will we get to how good will they be. The last major event before camp starts. It is plenty okay you don't much care for it but I f***ing love it!
  2. I should have made this an option so all of us "polyannas" could have picked it!
  3. If you don't mind paraphrasing what were the knocks? I honestly can't see how it would be a bad thing.
  4. Whipped weenie - he proposed on the playgorund they met on! That's a weenie move if I ever heard of one!
  5. No you don't get it. His RELEVANT experience is playing in a dome. I don't care about pee-wee or sand lot. Yes he grew up in PA and I'm sure that he played in his backyard when there was snow on the ground. That doesn't make him better at it. It also doesn't show or prove that he can do it. You are knocking one person for not playing in the elements while crediting someone else who plays in a dome. It just doesn't make any sense. Unless you think that every kid who grew up in the northeast is good at playing in the snow because they have done it before you haven't brought any proof to your argument.
  6. I don't know why I never liked Dungy just seemed he couldn't take his team over the hump. I agree with everything else you stated though. Barkley to me shined against Luck. The last game those 2 played I could see it becoming a rivalry in the NFL. I swore I was watching Mich St/Indiana ST Magic/Bird that game. They were electric and it is one of the best college games I've seen in a while. I'm hoping against hope for Barkley (but I'm more hoping whoever they pick ends up a hof qb and leads us to the promised land)
  7. And I believe I addressed your "I played peewee football so Ryan Nassib is good in the snow" comments so yes let us....
  8. IIRC he and Wawrow got into an argument about how much media access people had. Made me wonder if he was really Chris Brown. Now when/if he visits the site he see that everyone calls him the "frightened lemur." Whoever it was they were the reason I became sold on this site. The input and tidbits were always juicy and spot on. Called the Spiller pick as well IIRC. He is surely missed around here.
  9. Well that opinion can't be refuted. I often wondered if Manning was more a victim of circumstance. He played for some suspect head coaches (I never liked Dungy, Caldwell was a bum, and Mr. Playoff?!?! himself - prob best of bunch). The teams around him imo were never as good as the teams he was facing and only got where they did because of his skill. The year he missed the wheels fell off. I guess what I'm trying to say can be summed up this way. Patriots without Tom Brady (who many hold as an excellent playoff qb) 11-5. Colts without Peyton 2-14. Playoffs to me are when TEAMS shine. Qbs will get you there but teams will win it and Peyton just never had the team (except when the Bears gifted them one).
  10. I saw 1 picture of him playing in snow in high school. I'm glad that you have pee wee, hs, and sandlot experience. That has NOTHING to do with facing down a pass rush of people bigger, faster, and stronger than you that want to hurt you or how Ryan Nassib will handle the elements. It has been stated over and over again (but you prob still won't listen) many if not all qbs struggle in cold weather, any game that will effect the qb of the Bills will effect the qb of the other team as well, we play maybe 1 or 2 games a year where weather is even a factor, most football players regardless of position are from warm weather climates, Nassib played the majority of his games in a dome not in the elements, and Nassib struggled in the pinstripe bowl while playing in the elements (11-23 for 130 yards). HS football ends in late october/early november, SU practices and plays in a dome, geography does not neccesitate elements.
  11. Nassib plays in a dome. Where conditions are more perfect than they are in socal. There is no wind, no shadow games to play, and certainly no cold or rain.
  12. Well I'm not the biggest fan of Austin but I can try - consider this: Played in all 13 team games all 4 years Showed improvement in catches, ypg, and tds. He is a pr, kr, rb, and wr all rolled up into one He ran a 4.28 40 He accounted for a whopping 17 tds this year. Concerns are: ypc were surpisingly low (11 ypc on average) however that may have to do with a lot of screens, dumpoffs, get the ball in his hand and let him do something plays. Size Honestly that is it. He isn't a dropper, fumbler or troublemaker. If he was 6'2" he would be a top 5 lock. Therein lies the rub though, he isn't, and more than likely won't grow any taller.
  13. As I wake up this morning I now am getting cold feet myself lol. I've loved Barkley all along, got on the Nassib train in the fall, and this morning have no frickin clue who I want, who will be the best, and what to think. This is the first year in a long time I haven't thought I had an idea of who the Bills would take. I've said Barkley all along, asked Marrone about Nassib before he was the coach, come around to EJ, and begrudgingly came around on Geno. Will be an interesting outcome for sure!
  14. I think you could easily debate that this ended up being true. His playoff record is not very impressive.
  15. Minor quibble but this last year West Virginia moved to the big 12.
  16. I just had a thought maybe this is "true". Buddy said you gotta take the qb you like a round earlier. Maybe they do like him in the second but will pick him in the first. Smokescreen!
  17. I know this is a difficult question and agree whole heartedly that much depends on the system. I do plan on revisiting this next year. I read a lot of people saying they were high on russel Wilson or kaepernick or any other surprise pick. I'd like to see who gets it right. People still crush mayock for gabbert, kiper for claussen, and barbarian for Skelton. People also love to claim that this board could draft better than the bills. I am interested to see what ends up being true without it being revisionist. So I guess I'd also like to see who gets it wrong. If Matt Scott ends up being great I will remember that 1billsfan saw it. Other than that though I'd like to see the rest of tbders fall.
  18. I agree but this thread is for exactly that. I'm sick of hearing nassib is for sure a bust or Barkley is a backup. Time to hold people accountable - it seems absolutely everyone knew Russell Wilson would be amazing. Time to find out who can sack up. Time to see who is actually right. Ill cheer for whoever they pick I just think Barkley will end up being the best.
  19. I wish I could just put 1Billsfan in for Matt Scott and dog for Nassib but we will have to wait and see if they put their rep where their mouth is
  20. What in the world? Why would that matter? Championships are won by grading draft classes immediately, by winning free agency, by spending the most money! Man are you even a fan? Everyone knows this! Sheesh! It already is or at least within the first few responses
  21. He also said he wanted to smell their breath, to know they eat, sleep, and breathe football but you know twist the words to fit your argument as you please. P.S. it is just the start - wait until she tries to get you to go to a bed bath and beyond sale on Sundays.
  22. With all of the indecisiveness with these prospects I thought it would be a fun exercise to see who knows what they are talking about. Vote above (yes it is a public poll - we will know who you are - don't be scared!) and go on record. Put it in stone. Who do you think will be the best qb out of the bunch? No false remembering this years class (I KNEW Wilson was going to be amazing - you know who you are). Put yourself out there! Stake your claim! Be a Man! (or woman cgf)
  23. It is almost like it was centered on the agent for Elway and his diary that he kept about the goings-on before during and after the draft. Seriously I know people hear 83 draft class and think Kelly. That is not what this doc was supposed to be about! Read through the thread (although it sounds like you watched it - so I don't know how you missed it) and you will see it was about Elway and Marino NOT THE 83 DRAFT CLASS!!!!!!!!!! I agree. The NFL and all major sports are very shady. They often blur the line between ethics and fairness. This was a shining example of that. Conlficts of interest, personal vendettas, changing history, good thing something like that could never happen in today's NFL!
  24. I agree. I respect Kelly's opinion as I know he isn't talking out of his blow hole like some (most?). However I just see Barkley as a stud. I'm hoping he ends up in Buffalo and is my favorite QB prospect in the draft. Only time will tell who is smarter!
  25. So please go on record and say who your prefered qb is. All of this Marrone/Nassib bashing will continue by some (not saying you) when quietly their pick will have bombed and be out of the league. Please go on record and state who will be the best qb out of this draft - the one the Bills should draft.
