  1. HOW MANY STUPID THREADS ON THIS TOPIC DO WE NEED??!! :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

(this is a recording...)it doesn't matter where you pick if you have competent people conducting the draft. it also doesn't matter where you pick if you have incompetents making your picks.

nix took spiller at 9 when we did not need arunning back. what else do you need to know. and you guys are worried aboiut drafting 3rd instead of 6th??

THIS IS A LEAD PIPE CINCH: WHEREVER the bills raft next year, there will be a player drafted 3-6 slots later, at a POSITION OF GREAT NEED FOR THE BILLS, who is going to be a flat-out monster. he will make the guy we draft look like a wasted pick. how many years in a row does this have to happen before we all accept it as a foregone conclusion.

the current axis of incomnpetence (wilson, nix, modrak) could have the 1st 7 picks over all and still !@#$ it up.

Exactly! If you think a better draft position will somehow help the Bills draft better players, then you're mistaken. This team has had plenty of opportunities in the past and they've always come through with some hair brained pick that someone at OBD will explain "we really like this player", and are not concerned about position of need or other people's draft grades.

Anyone up for another WR or CB?

  2. The Bills are a team that can't afford to trade up. The draft is about estimating odds and placing bets. The Patsies are one of the best drafting teams because they place a lot of low risk bets with their draft picks. This team needs every draft pick it has in order to eventually make a competitive team again

  3. He's got a motor, and he never gives up.

But he's not big enough, skilled enough or fast enough to do any real damage in the league.

He's a star on a team of failures. Meaning he's maybe an average player compared to the rest of the league.

This goes to show how good he is...if he can stand out while absorbing double teams due to the lack of other threats on the Bills, how would he do on a team where teams can't focus on him because of other superstars.

The fact that he plays for a losing, irrelevant BB team means he'll never get the recognition he deserves.

  4. I think those of us who are unhappy with the Spiller pick are focused on the last 20 years of Bills history, during which they have started each season without five NFL-quality offensive linemen.

This is key. The bills woes at running back have less to do with the runner, and more to do with the o-line. you see it every year in the NFL. Take NE's Danny Woodhead. Put that guy on the Bills and Bill's fans would be fussing about him too. He wouldn't do squat with the line Buffalo has.

  5. his partner, Ayodele (sp?) stinks too. They all seem to be out of position on run plays, getting eatin alive by blockers...take a look at the touchdown run by Mendenhall, you see what I'm talking about. I used to point the finger at the D-line, but our guys are consistently getting exposed and always seem to be a couple of steps behind.

  6. The O-line has looked markedly better, but still . allows too many hits to Fitz. Also, they need to be able to grind it out on the ground. I think we're so conditioned to seeing a bad O-line that an average performance looks better than it should. The Bills at least need a tackle, some more quality depth, and time for the unit to grow.

  7. I agree 100%!!! i actually thought the OP was being sarcastic about "building around Fitz" and was going to bash him (like these other idiots are doing), so originally I came here to back up my boy Fitzy and was going to make the same point you just did......good job...glad some people on this board know what they're talking about

I'll be the first to admit that Fitz is not Peyton manning...BUT, how frustrating is it to see cutler have 6+ seconds to throw...or to have Bell and Howard getting little to no push on the line.

  8. I think today was another example of how we've got some solid building blocks for the future. Today Fitz showed how he's a solid QB that can carry this franchise into the future with a few additional pieces. I believe he's also to keep getting better with more game experience because of the continuity with Gailey. I would argue that the Bills have a solid complement of skill players, but have neglected the trenches for too long. If I had my druthers, I'd look to the highest rated tackle next year, or D-Lineman with their first round pick. Thoughts?

  9. Yep - just got the txt.

    Terrence McGee

    Andra Davis

    Shawn Merriman

    Aaron Maybin

    Ed Wang

    Alex Carrington

    John McCargo

Pretty sad that Maybin or Carrington STILL can't get on the field. And is Terrence McGee just ALWAYS hurt.

Without looking it up, I'd venture to say that McCargo's been inactive more than the alternative.

  10. Jerry Jones used to be considered part of the "new breed" of NFL owners and Mr. Wilson was thought to be a dinosaur. It occured to me that they really do have much in common:

    1) They own teams that suck.

    2) They both put their kids on the payroll.

    3) Both got rid of proven, respected execs (Polian and Parcells).

    4) Both hired a weak head coach in terms of him having much say wrt the draft, etc.

    5) Both are WAY too involved with football decisions. Jones is open about it; Ralph almost certainly brought us Spiller. Jones acts as GM. While he isn't as bad as Levy was, he has no business running football operations imo.

    6) The need exists for both to draft players who will put "fannies in the seats."

I post this because I think of Jones as quite smug. Meanwhile, is he THAT much more together than Ralph? But I warn you that Jones, an Arkansas grad, will do what it takes to get Ryan Mallett. Will Ralph?

    We shall see.

As much as I hate to say it, but the Cowboys don't compare to the Bills....Jones expects to win and goes after it. As can be seen in their pursuit of quality personnel. The results may not show it this year, but at least they've been in the conversation. Wilson says he wants to win then allows 10+ years of questionable decisions to materialize.

  11. 2 points:

    1. Donte plays with heart, but he's at a mismatch defending 6-5 tight ends. He's 5-10...by no means is he a great player, but I think he deserves more credit than most people give him because of his passion, and willingness to mix it up. As a DB he should not have as many tackles as he does.

    2. Where are our LB's? They have not made an impact all year. This team is sorely lackng the ability to generate a pass rush and put pressure n the QB...this pressure is what generated all the INTs last yr...

  12. It's all part of the master plan. Get a chinese player, you suddenly have 1 billion more fans. Out of those billion fans, someone probably has the money to buy the team. Move the team to Bejing, so opposing teams suffer jet lag when playing the Bejing Bills at "home", thereby giving the Bills home playoff games, and an easy road to their Super Bowl victory!

LOL! I love the creative juices on this board..

  13. Heffeweissen is CRAZY GOOD. Prior to my relocation to south florida, I used to go to Ulrichs 1 or 2 times a month for a Heffe drought and potatoe pancake.

    I def recommend this.

I was stationed in Germany for 3 yrs and probably gained 20 lbs drinking the German beer. The heffeweizen in unreal. The best stuff actually has wheet sediment you have swirl around when pouring. There was Heffe-weizen, Crystal-weizen (lighter), Dunkel-wiezen (heavey), and Dobble Dunkel-weizen (really heavey).

  14. Roscoe never got on the field because the DJ was more concerned about having a good blocker on the field than gamebreaker. I never understood the infatuation with Josh Reed, because he's oa major reason why this offense wasn't going anywhere....he was a typical DJ player....hardworking, but marginally skilled.
