Or more precisely fix did not work first time.  When the doctor "fixes" it this way usually there is a suit asking for money to support,

Three best ways to fix NFL overtime after Chiefs' wild playoff win over Bills brings OT rules under scrutiny

    https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-conference-championship-games-dates-times-previews-early-odds-for-chiefs-vs-bengals-rams-vs-49ers/

How to fix?  CBS writer had 3 ideas.

The team that gets the first possession and wins outright like last night happens 19.4% of the time.

The team that gets the first possession wins overall 52.6% of the time.

Not allowing the other team a possession when a FG was scored was broken as kicking 50+ yard FGs has become almost commonplace, particularly indoors.  Yeah it stings that the Bills D sucked so bad last night, but it is meant to be sudden death, not lingering death. It ain't broke IMO, so don't "fix" it.

Our offense is already legit. I mean sure we could use some more o-linemen. But we already punt nearly the lowest in the league. Keep drafting defense? We have wasted how many picks there already. Go after FAs? We are already near cap space. It’s so frustrating. I’m the the point where we need to get another star CB as an insurance policy and maybe someone dedicated to be able to guard TEs, and then also focus on o-linemen. If we draft another DE or DT at this point I’m going to be disappointed.

Need running back(s) for sure.  Running Allen as much as they need to now is going to bite them in the ass down the road.

Dumbest decision all night at the absolute worst time. It would have killed 4-5 seconds and given them about same field position. Stupid

I've heard this from local talking heads as well but I disagree.  The choices as I see them were:
    1) Squib or kick it high and short to force a return in theory to burn some clock.  The problem with this is you put the ball in the hands of Hill with some open field in front of him.  Hill is the fastest and shiftiest player in the NFL and had been giving the Bills a thorough screwing all game. Not a great option IMO.

    2) Kick away and make Mahomes go 75 yards in just over a minute and 3 timeouts.  The way the Bills D played all game also not a wonderful option, but not difficult to believe your #1 rated defense in several categories could pull their heads out of their butts for a few seconds of game time and close out the game.

I have said for some time I don't believe McCoach makes good in game decisions.  Too much with his heart and not enough with his head.  But I don't have any problem with that decision at all.

  4. Nice to see a positive thread tonight.  A nice change from "fire everyone".  The Rochester talking heads after the game were calling it the best game in playoff history. I disagree.  Neither defense played worth a crap and should be incredibly embarrassed.  Craziest last few minutes, absolutely.

Gee, I wonder what the issue could be?

When was the last time you were outside for 4 hours in subzero wind chill?

Older folks will be suffering.  Pay a lot of money to suffer or watch the game in comfort eating, drinking and smoking what you like. I don't see whats hard to understand about that.

Not just older folks, anyone.  But I 100% agree.  Go through that crap or enjoy the game watching in comfort with friends and family is such a simple decision for me. People can suffer if they like though, whatever floats your boat. I went to the Bills/Browns Monday night blizzard game years ago.  Stupid decision, but I did it. Regretted it then, but not now.

    3) Pats fans won't travel because they know they are losing.

Wait till game day. Tickets will probably be $5.

Given the weather, not sure about the outcome at all. Look at the last "Bills Weather" game between those 2 teams recently.

But I agree about the impending ticket price freefall.  Someone offered me club seats today at his cost ($700 for a pair). I have no interest in going at any price, my warm dry couch, quality reasonably priced beer, and going to bed after the tv is turned off is infinitely better IMO,  but my wife does.  Her response "why when I will be able to get better seats for less than $100 Saturday".  And she's right.

So excited for the first game of the year without rain!

There is that, too cold to rain or even snow :)

Yeah really....only time they reschedule due to weather would be for Hurricanes and such. Never heard of a game rescheduled because it was cold or extra cold

The Bills made the choice for no dome.  It is what it is. This Bills team is not built for "Bills weather" like teams of the past.  We can only hope the Bills fare better than the last time they played the Pats in "Bills Weather".  Now that sports gambling apps are legal in NY, I know people betting against the Bills this weekend because of the weather. Getting +175 moneyline on the pats.

What makes the NFL great is that fewer games make each one meaningful. Watering down the product will make it indistinguishable from upstarts like the XFL.

Simple formula.  More regular season games means more ticket and concession revenue.  And the big one, a larger TV contract.

Wear and tear on players, you don't really think they give a crap about that do you? Just adds drama.  $$$$$$$$ pure and simple $$$$$$$$

There have been 52 total Super bowls to date. And only three times has a dome team one. SB 34 with the Rams, SB41 with the Colts and SB 44 with the Saints. Needing a dome to have a championship team is a total farce. Domes are for people who cant handle a little weather now and then. I had a blast at the game today. It's minus 5 in Green Bay right now in a sold out Lambeau. Buffalo is getting soft.

Buffalo is not getting a super bowl dome or no dome.  It doesn't meet the other criteria such as hotel rooms, and it's not anywhere near sexy enough for the NFLs showcase event.

A dome is for the comfort of the fans, nothing more.  There is no reason for a fan base to need to be "hard".  Its a simple matter of selling tickets.  More tickets would be sold if people were indoors, particularly late season games when the team is not very good.

  10. To me it came down to 2 main reasons the Bills came out on top:

    1) Josh Allen >>>>>>>>>>>> Brady 2.0.  At least right now, but we remember what Josh looked like his rookie season as well.

    2) Bills secondary > Pats secondary.  For example the Pats secondary dropped a couple balls that should have been intercepted.  Bills secondary as usual took good advantage of their opportunities.

Oh and I almost forgot, McKenzie was a freaking beast :)

  11. For me it's entertainment.  When the Bills win, I'm happy.  When they don't, I'm disappointed.  But that's the extent of it.  It certainty does not affect me much past the game, and certainly not days or weeks after.  Reading this thread I actually consider myself lucky.

The refs are preparing to make sure the Bills lose , this is how corrupted the NFL is . They want to see Tampa and New England in the SB

Doesn't matter who is in the SB, people watch.  Brady versus Hoodie isn't going to make the NFL any more money than any other game.  And the refs don't make any more or less money no matter what.  Your conspiracy theory is worse than QAnon.

It’s Judgment Day in a lot of ways for the 2021 Buffalo Bills on Sunday against the New England Patriots.

Actually, let’s call it Judgment Day, Part 1, since the final judgment on the Bills will be made based on what they do in January.

    • Can Sean McDermott avoid being outcoached by Bill Belichick?

    • Did Brandon Beane build a team geared toward beating the Kansas City Chiefs and fail to keep a keener eye on beating the Patriots?

    • Can Brian Daboll find the right adjustments against the defensive wizardry of his chief pro football mentor?

    https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/mark-gaughan-showdown-with-pats-is-a-judgment-day-for-sean-mcdermott-bills/article_d00ac162-6364-11ec-a9bf-6b672cd22306.html

Not even close to judgement day. If the Bills win, he is safe.  If the Bills lose, the excuse will be covid and he is still safe.

The idea of a 4 hour football game does sound good to me. I'm old enough to remember when they were 21/2 hours long.

It's over 3 hours now.  OT and it pushes 4.  I had to resort to technology to get it down to between 2 and 2.5 hours.  I use media center software that I wrote a plugin for to skip commercials.  So I record the Bills games, the system takes about 40 minutes to detect the commercials automatically after the recording ends, then when we watch it skips the commercials automatically.  Works out perfectly for 1pm starts.  Go do other things Sunday afternoons, come back home and watch the commercial free Bills game in 2 to 2.5 hours (manually skip halftime) while having a family dinner.  Not ideal for everyone, but it works for me :)
