I don't think the Tweet or article were worded in such a way as to confirm or deny the veracity of these statements.

In other words: Does the technology trigger when the ball crosses the first down line and electronically signal "first down" before the refs can even spot the ball?

Seems like more information is needed to form a conclusion.

Sony Hawk Eye to me implies a video solution. Which means the 4th and inches sneaks with the mass of humanity blocking lines of sight, this would not be leaps and bounds better than the current human solution.  Now putting something in the noses of the ball with sensors to pick up an accurate location, did it break the plane of the goal line etc., would be a big help and speed up the game as well.  Even that still has issues given the current rules seemingly designed to produce bad calls. like where the ball is when the knee or elbow touches the ground for example. But incremental improvements are much better than the 1950's era of technology things they have going on now IMO.

20K to 50K for the better seats so far. I know these are the way of life for quite some time but I can't help but to feel these are the ultimate slap in the face. Billionaires come to taxpayers to fund much of their stadiums, then insult them and make them pay huge sums just to have the right to buy season tickets. One time purchase? OK, but it's a big one. It's not like the tickets themselves are free.

Welcome to the NFL.  As long as people are willing [foolish enough] to keep paying, they have no reason to change.  I sure wouldn't in their shoes.

We're kind of in the same boat.  We usually host an annual Super Bowl party but cancelled it this year.  Nobody had a problem with it after this loss and just the fawning of the Chiefs we'll have to listen to throughout the game.  LOL.  We're going to the Fallsview Casino in Canada instead.  Mine as well lose the money I would've spent betting on the game.

You might not escape the game there.  The falls view sports book is having a SB watch party

Woah.  I'm not agreeing with the OP.  The NFL conspiring to rig the game for the Chiefs to make the Super Bowl is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.  The Chiefs have become the new Patriots (or Cowboys of the 90's) in that many people will watch because they want them to fail.  That's all I meant.

Members of my family are planning a superbowl NOT watch party. Not because of any of the conspiracy theory, flat earth society style, nonsense in some posts in this thread. Or the Tay Tay "ruining the NFL" foolishness either.  But just out of lack of interest in watching the Chiefs in the SB again. No more, no less.  Smoked meats, good beer, distilled spirit, and good friends.  I suspect (because I will create one :) ) there will be a room with the game on as well ;)

    Yikes.

    Do you eat Cocoa Puffs?

The Bills score the biggest ratings in almost every big game they are in.  The NFL knows that the Bills in the Super Bowl may mean the best ratings ever for  the Super Bowl.

And if the Bills were playing a team like the Lions, who also have never won a Super Bowl, then it is almost a guarantee that would happen.

So, you would think as they plotted and planned the elaborate conspiracy theory presented in the OP, with the dozens people that would need to have been involved, that someone would have pointed out that to Goodell in one of the planning meetings. Right?

A batshi* crazy conspiracy theory that  NO sentient adult would ever believe.

    So, a troll or joke?

Sadly, i suspect he was serious.

  6. The main premise of this thread is very valid "The stubbornness to continually run the QB sneak".

That was no more evident than on the last turnover on downs.  Did Josh make it, who knows.  But the Bills stubbornness (the perfect word in this case) to do that, and AGAIN to the left as always when it was clearly not working is IMO what cost the Bills the game as much as anything else.  It is NOT the fault of the referees.  Given what had happened with the "tush push" the entire game, the Bills needed to take it out of the hands of the officials and make the first down clearly and not rely on what some say was making it by 1/3 of the ball length in that giant sea of humanity.

Josh said in the postgame interview that he enjoyed sushi 🍣 in Seattle the night before the game and he’s not able

Isn’t there any place serving quality sushi in the area? Can’t he have it delivered from Toronto? We need to keep QB1 happy. Especially if it means getting off to a hot start.

    P.s., I love Wegman’s but I’m assuming he wants something of a higher quality…

Wegmans is actually high quality, at least for this area.  I imagine anywhere where the fish is fresh out of the ocean is bound to be somewhat better though.

So if they run the ball 3 times and get next to nothing like they had been all 2nd half, especially with the Texans expecting runs down there, force Houston to burn their 3 timeouts AND likely give them an extra 10-15 seconds of clock time since run plays are much quicker than passing plays, how does that change the outcome? The Texans still easily could have done exactly what they did and kicked the FG.

That's something that is lost on most posters. You run 3 times and don't get a first down, you are handing them an extra 10-15 seconds of time on the clock.

You mean as opposed to 3 incomplete passes?  A few seconds maybe with Allen in the pocket, but 10-15????  Plus a holding penalty in the endzone with Allen looking to pass ends the game right there.  Granted even with all their timeouts left they could only run 1 play which netted 5 yards, and their kicker made it with more than 5 yards to spare.  But I stand by stupid play calling.

It is why I put it as season altering. The season is not over Monday but the directions it goes vary big time based on W/L

Should be a very interesting game.  The Jets D doesn't suck, and the ravens and texans have both shown how to make the Bills Offense look mediocre at best.  If they follow that same path and the Bills have no answer it could be a very long game.  And another close one because I think the Bills D should do well against the Jets O.

    4. Luck. FOR ONE FREAKING TIME CAN A KICKER FLUB A DISTANCE KICK OR MAYBE JUST MAYBE MISS. SWEAR TO GOD IT IS ALWAYS US ON THAT SHORT END OF THE STICK. Rant over.

Their kicker was exactly why the Texans did what they did at the end of the game by punting and pinning the Bills deep (after gifting, or the zebras gifting depending on your perspective, with the intentional grounding call).  They figured a 3 and out gave them a good shot at winning in regulation with the range and accuracy of their kicker.  And with I think all 3 timeouts left at that point it was very possible.  Of course the Bills made it even easier for them with the [downright stupid] 3 straight incomplete passes.

Basically Texans coaches 1, Bills coaches 0.

It's just one L and one W for Baltimore.

What we saw is that a good team played at peak performance and looked better than they are....and another good team played poorly and looked much worse than they are. So the result is 35-10.  Every team is going to lay an egg or two this season.

Just one game as you said is obviously true.  But your second paragraph I saw completely differently.  I saw a ravens team that played up to their potential, and a Bills team that did the same.  I thought both QB's played a very good game.  Josh for example, was dead nuts on yet again.  The only touchdown for the Bills was due to that one super-Josh pass.

The difference to me was in the coaching.  The Ravens did to the Bills D what KC does to the Bills D, namely a lot of misdirection.  Combined with that freak of nature Henry punishing the Bills tacklers all game. The Bills had no answer for that Ravens offense. That game also showed that with the current state of the Bills secondary, if the D-Line can't get home on the opposing QB, it's going to be a long day for them.

Why the Bills offense was so anemic, except Allen, is far less clear to me.

  12. 1) My daughters entire, including NCAA, basketball career.

    10) Numerous occasions at Bills training camp at SJF when all the kids were so excited to get a players autograph and things like wristbands and shoes from the players.  Their excitement level was off the charts.

    11) Taking my oldest son to a Bills game when he was about 10. Hanging out at the pinto tailgate.  He saw someone do a bowling ball shot, stagger slowly behind the pinto to a guardrail (it was parking lot 1 days) puke his guts out, and proceeded to go drink more.  He asked me questions and it was an amazing teachable moment that I believe paid off later in his life.

    12) My kids loving life at the pinto tailgate on many occasions.  The people there, management, staff, and general public, were always very welcoming to kids and went out of their way to make sure they had a great time.

Someone posted on the season ticket holder facebook groupt that they had inside info that Legends is having a tougher time with sales than they had expected. If I find the post again, I'll link it here.

With the huge jump in price that some are seeing, the Bills could not have expected most to just bend over and take it immediately.  It will take time and a lot of bitching before it's over.  But I believe in the end most will bend over (pun intended;) ).

Allen is now, I believe, the 11th highest paid QB in the NFL and behind the likes of Kirk Cousins, Lawrence and Jalen Hurts.  He is $12 million below market.  Great job by Beane stepping up when he did.  That $12 million nets us at least two starters.

Interested in thoughts on when we should we extend Allen.  Seems there is no time like the present!

Sounds like Joshie needs a new agent to me.

He admitted to having sex with her and she was 17 at the time, which in California (but not in 40 other states) is a crime.  It's no longer an accusation if it's proven/agreed upon to have happened.  What was in question was whether she portrayed herself to be of legal age, which is an acceptable defense in California.  Now on the face of it, it's absurd to think that a high schooler would bother going to a college party and then tell people he/she is 17, but you need to prove that it didn't happen and that takes time.  Given the reaction, not only by the public but by several players on the Bills, the Bills couldn't afford to keep him on the team.

I respect your opinion. But disagree 100% with the bolded bit.  IMO employers, and that includes the Buffalo Bills, at the very least need to respect their employees enough to at a minimum honor innocent until proven guilty.

And that feeling extends well beyond the Bills.

It wasn't just an accusation.  He admitted to having sex with her.  And without further investigation, they didn't know if he had anything to do with what went on inside.  They did what they had to given the scumbag lawyer decided to wait until right before the season started.

But you see it was just an accusation.  Having sex with her is not a crime!  The Bills should have found out the facts THEN reacted.  Instead of ready-fire-aim like they did. They absolutely did NOT need to [over]react that way at that time.   You may have heard of innocent until proven guilty ... though in society these days it sure seems to be guilty until proven innocent like in this case.

He won the Bills' punting job.  And then that lawyer/girl decided to derail his career.

The Bills did not need to cut him because of an accusation by a random girl and a scumbag lawyer..  But the "character police" overreacted and did not wait to see how it played out.  The blame is squarely on the Bills for this one. They let themselves get caught up in the whole meetoo thing.

I don't believe it actually, but a lot of you do and are seemingly fine with it.  I can only hope that the lack of uproar over the pathetic WR group doesn't affect the FO and they decide they can get away with rolling this mess out.

I believe the "lack of uproar" stems from Beane's statements and a general understanding of the current cap situation, realizing that Beanes hands were tied this upcoming season.  Now you could make a case that an uproar should be made over how the Bills got themselves into this cap situation in the first place.

This maybe a reach, but I think they would have.

We know that the Bills had Coleman higher than McConkey, Mitchell, Legette, Worthy, and Pearsall.  If they didn't they would have taken one of Worthy, McConkey, Legette or Pearsall at 28 (or 32) instead of trading down (twice).  So let's say for arguments sake that the Bills don't make the trade and draft Coleman at 28.

Dallas and Baltimore don't take a WR.  Dallas didn't grab a WR until the 6th round and Baltimore stole Tez Walker in the 4th.  We know SF didn't want Legette, McConkey and Coleman. That leaves one question, would they have taken Worthy over Pearsall?  That's the real question.  Given how the 49ers went somewhat off the board by drafting Pearsall with Legette, McConkey, Coleman, & Mitchell available, I believe they had Pearsall ranked ahead of Worthy as well.

By way the NFL had a draft grade of 6.4 on McConkey, 6.35 on Mitchell, 6.32 on Pearsall, 6.29 on Worthy, 6.26 on Legette, and 6.25 on Coleman

Given this back drop, it seems to me that KC would ended up with Worthy anyway.  I'm therefore glad Beane stuck to his guns, traded down and added the 3rd rd pick.

Maybe, who knows.  But KC liked him enough to not take that chance.  For whatever reason the Bills didn't grade him out as high as KC did or he would be a Bill now.

    This.

It's about every year. That's their goal, as they've said many many times. They want to be competitive every year.

And there's every chance they'll be competitive this year as long as Allen is healthy.

They did this because based on their board and how the draft fell, they felt this was the most effective use of their picks. Doesn't mean anyone else has to agree. But that's what they thought.

That's what the Bills have been the past few seasons and from a business perspective it has worked out well for them. They can get the new stadium, probably have enough interest to sell PSL's.  Competitive makes great business sense.  It can cost a lot to take a shot at the superbowl.
