Don't like QBs much eh With Newton off the board the Bills would have had to try REALLY hard to !@#$ up that pick. I was hoping for Miller just because I think a LB would have more immediate impact, but Dareus is obviously an instant starter as well in a big position of need and a solid pick. With the Jags taking Gabbert, it begs the question what will Trentative do?

I look forward to seeing the video evidence From both of you!

You are 100% correct. But some people need to blame a particular person when their team loses instead of seeing the big picture like you do.
-
You have to look at the overall lack of skating talent on this team. Given this fact, the last 2 months and particularly the flyers series was very impressive. The clearly overachieved as a team. In my opinion if they were to acquire a play-making forward such as Briere (it still burns me that the sabres let him walk away so easily) and a stud defenseman who can carry the puck our of their own zone they could do some real damage next season. Any anyone who blames Miller for that loss yesterday either does not know hockey or has their head up their ass. If it wasn't for Miller the Sabres would have been down by 5 goals or more going into the first intermission.

Adam Schefter: Denver is taking Miller at 2
CodeMonkey replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those 3 are pretty much everyones consensus to go first. With Buffalo picking whoever is left. As long as Buddy doesn't pull another waterbug out of his ass this year and sticks to the predictions I will be satisfied. -
I have 2 sons and both are fairly athletic, one is sports minded the other not. The sports minded one wanted to play football when he was very young and he did play flag football and enjoyed it. He asked about playing tackle football when he was older and he was not allowed to. My wife and I know too many people in the medical profession, including one who specializes in head trauma, and we decided that the risk did not just outweigh the reward, but by so much there was not even a question about our son playing. There are a great many other sports available that he can: 1) Play without one of the main goals being to damage another player. 2) Get good exercise while playing, not be off of the field half of the time (at least). 3) Have a reasonable expectation of not having multiple concussions before being even out of high school. 4) Have a reasonable expectation of not blowing out a knee or some other lifetime handicap before being even out of high school. 5) Can play his entire life, even when he is a old fart like me They play soccer, basketball, hockey, and have played baseball (thank God they lost interest in that marathon snooze fest). But never football. They both understand the reasons why, and they are both Bills fans. Bottom line, just not worth the risk. We have the rest of their lives to think about.

He wants to know if you would prefer a Bill who is a decent person but is average or worse at football, or a scumbag who is a very good player or better. Me, I want good players. I don't give a flying !@#$ what they do off the field as long as they don't miss games. All of the high and mighty "not on my team" people need to look at themselves in the mirror first then STFU. This is football, not an audition for sainthood.

People Tend To Forget Last Year's Picks
CodeMonkey replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That remains to be seen. His clearly whiffed on his first draft as a GM in my opinion. I'm hopeful of a much better performance this time around but we will see. -
It means an end to all the fantasy GMs here declaring the best picks for the Bills and a start to the posts about why the Bills picks are either great or sucked.

Buddy Nix: Perfect time for Bills to draft a quarterback
CodeMonkey replied to Scrappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That stat is almost meaningless because I believe it does not take proficiency into account. A QB can have 3rd and 20 every time and complete 2 yard passes every time and have a great passer rating. Does the team absolutely no good however. Here is another stat, overall QB rating. Fitz ranks 22 there with a 81.8. http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating/year/2010/seasontype/2 -
I prefer the 1:00 games actually. But my response to your question would be, With the way the Bills have sucked major ass the past 11 years, what would be the incentive for the NFL to put them on in prime time?

Oct 30 against Washington is the Toronto game. Don;t always believe what you read, particularly leaks.

Nix and Modrak Address Media
CodeMonkey replied to Ghost of Rob Johnson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You guys are funny with all this smokescreen nonsense to trick other GMs. Do you seriously think for one minute that any GM is going to pay attention to anything another GM says to the press now? They are all full of **** and are not going to say anything that will give away who they want. The only people paying attention to what Nix or any other GM is saying to the press is you. -
No draft yet so people are making predictions mainly based on last years team. Based on last seasons records, the Bills have the 2nd hardest schedule this season. Second hardest schedule and the team had 4 wins last year and people are predicting 9 wins this season? Logic does not run rampant on this board, but you have to respect the blind optimism

http://www.nfl.com/schedules/interactive#/team=BUF Opponents 2010 cumulative record 137-119-0. 2nd hardest.

What is the BIGGGEST problem with the Bills, on or off field
CodeMonkey replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last years draft was underwhelming to say the least. And the 4-12 season was a train wreck. There is nothing to be encouraged about as far as I'm concerned. I hope NOT to be able to make that same statement this time next year! "completely different" doesn't necessarily mean better. -
Poll on whether Fitz is the right guy or not
CodeMonkey replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All but the first one are accurate statements about last season. Fitz had the majority of the season with starter reps. That should have been enough, particularly by the end of the season. And in fact as far as the last one goes I'd say you are being very generous when you say the OLine gave him mediocre pass protection. But there were many times, including critical situations, that he got decent protection, the receiver was open etc. etc. and he flat out missed the opportunity because his accuracy is just not quite good enough to be a significant QB at this level. That's just the harsh reality of the situation. You don't like that, and that is fine. In fact based on the current poll results I'd say there are many who feel the same way you do. But listing excuses while ignoring the basic fact seems ill conceived. In my opinion anyway. -

And the sun was in his eyes and the grass was to long. There, that should about cover the excuses now. -

The smarts and the guts for sure anyway. I doubt anyone here would argue against that. -
Corrected it for you. If the Sabres players don't want penalties called on them, then they shouldn't commit the offenses. Simple as that. The refs did not beat the Sabres, and the Flyers did not beat the Sabres. The Sabres beat themselves. It's not catastrophic though, it was an away game and they had already taken one there. If this season has shown us anything it's that they can and generally do bounce back quickly from a game like that. I suspect we won't see another game that bad in this series.

My new Scott Norwood tattoo

Fairly hardcore? What would you consider very hardcore then, shaving his head and getting a Bills helmet tattooed on? -

CodeMonkey replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's more a combination of excitement for the upcoming season, a strong dose of koolaid, and the belief that Nix and company won't waste this years first pick. No harm really, they just want to Billieve really bad. -
Well that sucks. If you were home you could watch via the internet.
