  1. So it seems like EJ didn't impress enough for anyone to talk about him being the starter when Taylor returns from injury. I would argue that 1. there was zero drop off in overall production from the QB position with EJ in. 2. EJ actually had the best total passing yards in a Bills game this season. 3. EJ gets sacked once every 21 attempts and Tyrod has been sacked once per every 9.8 attempts 4. Tyrod loses on average 7.14 yards per sack and EJ has averaged 3.5 yards lost per sack 5. EJ had at least 6 completions to WRs in this game. Tyrod has struggled to hit WRs. Last game our top two wideo outs had 1 catch 6. EJ also made plays with his feet albeit less exciting ones but he got a TD and a bug first down when needed. 7. While the Bills went 3 and out an embarrassing 50% of the time under EJ, they did the same thing against the Titans under Tyrod and Taylor did even worse against the Giants where the Bills were 57% 3 and out. Both are throwing close to 70% completion, Tyrod a little over EJ a little under. Neither is tearing it up the way they should with all these weapons. Personally I think EJ has more potential because he actually can play from the pocket. If he has more practice time as the number one he could elevate his game. I feel like Taylor is already playing at the top of his game and the result is not much better than EJ in mid learning curve. I say start EJ against Jacksonville. If he doesn't play better than this week then Taylor can come back after the bye but if EJ plays well I think you use the BYE to establish EJ as the QB because these scrambling QBs don't last more than a few games without injury. My prediction is that EJ would have to start week 5 when Tyrod got hurt and I was only a week off. Michael Vick has only had one season out of 13 where he was able to avoid injury. That is a telling stat.
  2. Rothlisberger wouldn't have been trying to scramble for 20+ yards because he can throw the ball.
  3. You really think he is better than Watkins or McCoy? I don't.
  4. Didn't we have someone at another position that needed to be signed at the time due to an injury? I think it was a safety because of A Williams neck. Nothing is ever as simple as you are making it out to be. we needed to free roster space more than cap room.
  5. http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/buffalo-bills-team-stats?season=2015&seasonType=3&week=0&category=OFFENSE&type=1 I personally don't agree with the team's assessment. EJ had nearly 4 yds more per pass than TT, higher QB rating 146.9 to 89.7, 4 TDs to 0, plus EJ was playing with all the scrubs most of the time he was in. I don't see where TT played better. I just don't. He scrambles better but a good QB shouldn't have to do that more than once or twice a game because he should be passing the ball as per his job description.
  6. one would think it would effect his running game too no? seems like a weak excuse. he looks flustered and is making poor throws for most of the game. I'm not going to excuse his poor play with a couple scrambles. It's great that we got the win but TT is a huge ? in my book at this point.
  7. oh whatever same difference. free draft pick for a player with zero trade value.
  8. its interesting to note that even our scrambling QBs like flutie and losman didnt ever run that much in a game because its not really the definition of good QB play. If TT had thrown for 250 yards as well it would be one thing but 109 yards in the air and 75 yards on the ground tells me something is wrong more than right.
  9. tend to agree. EJ was the better QB in the preseason. as exciting as TT looks running with the ball he's the friggin QB and shoudl be throwing it. He will just get hurt and seems to already have done so to whatever degree.
  10. I think you need to reread all the posts by the people in a panic that Tyrod might be hurt. for example "noooooooooooooooo"
  11. why not? He has a better arm than TT and has more experience with this team and receivers than TT. Why play so conservative? I hate how the Bills always play conservative "Not to lose" football instead of playing to win. It's about as effective as prevent defense my other pet peeve!
  12. unfortunately that seems to be the only way TT can get yards. 109 yards passing and 46 were on one play. ugly ugly ugly
  13. I think you assume a lot in calling Cassel a viable QB. Let's look at his preseason numbers with the Bills shall we? Cassel did not qualify for the top 103 preseason qbs. However with some digging I was able to find these stats for his preseason ( he was the worst of the Bills QBs aside from Simms in most categories and worse than Simms too in many) 13/15 for 83 yards at 5.5 yds per attempt. 0 TDs and OINTs and 1 sack. That average per attempt would put him firmly as the 40th best QB in the league had he accomplished it in the regular season. Since it was the preseason it is probably safe to assume he might not do as well against real defenses. History seems to support that. He's thoroughly mediocre and I am not sure why anyone cares about him not being on this roster. His best season was the one with the Patriots where he actually represented a 6 win drop off compared with Brady with the same roster the previous year. He just isn't that good and represents no level of comfort.
  14. really then where is Cassel? jeesh I mean make a real argument
  15. they didn't trade him for a bag of magic beans they traded him for a draft pick next year. Something that quite honestly a journeyman veteran QB nearing retirement (also a veteran who has had a mediocre to bad career) is not worth. It is absolutely amazing that the Bills managed to get anything for a player who they had cut a week before and cleared waivers because NOBODY IN THE LEAGUE WANTED HIM! This was brilliantly played by Whaley and friends I'm sorry.
  16. Logic of the move: backup/third string QB on the roster who is old and nearing the end of his career. have two young promising QBs on the roster that you have decided you are more interested in. Can't really afford to keep all three and sign Dareus. Oportunity arrises to actually get something for Cassel (washed up veteran) who would otherwise jsut get cut at somepoint. To me this is a no brainer decision and the right call by the Bills. As an NFL club you can't waste a lot of time and money planning for your third string QB that you really hope will never see the field. I challenge you and all other Cassel supporters to find another team in the league that has an impressive or even viable 3rd string QB.
  17. its an impossible throw if there was a defender within 15 yards of woods but there wasn't. He was as wide open as they come disagree with you completely. as does every sports writer and the commentators during the game. but you know better I'm sure because.... Perhaps if TT stepped up in the pocket once in a while and made a throw instead of rolling out and throwing the ball away or getting sacked like JP Losman this conversation wouldn't be taking place. I'm sorry TT is an exciting guy carrying the football but 109 gross yards passing is not even close to acceptable.
  18. because a QB from the opposing team is not available every week and you don't always have the roster flexability to do it. The Patriots do it almost every week when possible. go take a look at their transaction history. They have signed one of our ex players the week before our game. Are you really so naive to not see how having a player (particularly a QB) from the team you have to face is even better than film study? And NO I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT SAY THE BILLS CAN'T GET INFO FROM SCOUTS AND FILM LIKE EVERYONE ELSE lol actually didn't say anything of the sort. I just happen to think that anyone that thinks this scrub QB has any chance of playing and wasn't brought in to get an edge on the Bengals is well, an idiot. studying film does not show you the whole playbook only what they have done so far. johnson knows their whole playbook...
  19. There is zero chance Johnson ever plays a snap for the Bills. Did you notice while assessing Johnson's career stats that he spent the offseason on the Bengals? That would be the ONLY reason the Bills signed this player who throws 2 INTs for every TD. if Tyrod can't start EJ WILL start there is no maybe about that.
  20. Johnson was on the Bengals for training camp. how obvious does that fact need to be before everyone realizes why the Bills signed this player this week?
  21. insider knowledge is the reason for this QB signing. how clueless can you all be? He was on the Bengals for all of training camp and knows their whole offense!
  22. he's not out. nobody has said that. Rex said he's sore. Johnson is a guy who knows a lot about the Bengals. NO WAY he starts unless taylor ane ej are both hurt
  23. OK first of all for all you folks that are in a panic over Tyrod possibly not starting: he threw for 109 yards on Sunday. While it is true that he made the plays late in the game, mostly with his feet, his totally ineffective passing for most of the game is why they were in that position. He missed WIDE OPEN receivers in the game. Most notably Woods who had an easy touchdown on a third down. (tyrod made the first down with a wild scramble but the wide open easy TD was the right play for the QB to make. second of all there is absolutely ZERO chance this guy Johnson is going to see the field unless EJ gets hurt also. More obvious about the Johnson signing is that he spent the entire offseason on the Bengals. Duh. Inside info signing. he will probably get cut next week.
