  1. Am I the only one who thought that Da'Norris Searcy was a strong safety and was the leading candidate to start opposite Byrd?

Rogers is low so that no one (most importantly Rogers himself) thinks that anything is being handed to him. It means nothing though. Don't worry, if he stays out of trouble and flashes potential, he'll easily make the 53-man roster. I honestly think they're going to keep 7 receivers this year.

I love that Carrington looks to be taking on a starting role and agree he deserves it, but man, he really looked at home as as a DT last year. That really looked like his natural position. I guess we'll see.

I had that same thought when I noticed that too. And hasn't A. Williams been playing FS with Byrd absent?

  2. I was hopeful that Kolb could be a good stop gap/backup/potential starter until I saw that article. Did you see the picture of Kolb and how the helmet fits funny with the mask angling down? How many successful QBs have you seen with a helmet that looks so ridiculous?

Good point. I've always been completely shocked with the lack of respect for players' face masks angles on this board. Totally underrated aspect of what makes a QB successful.

  3.

I don't know if you're right or wrong, but I don't recall much hubbub about Jared Allen's affinity for guns:

Maybe Mario should put on some camo and it'd be all good.

Or how bout the NFL's golden boy Drew Brees?

You should check out Chris Kaman's (NBA white Center) twitter too. He has to have over 50 pictures of him with guns (hunting). I would link to it but its a pain to do on a phone.

  4. I've heard a lot of people say that the Xbox One specs suck compared to the PS4. Anandtech did a good writeup and potentially debunked it. It all depends on how the cache is used.

Really interesting article. Thanks for sharing, Fez. The PS4s running hotter would concern me a little in regards to reliability, but I don't think the performance between the two systems will be as much of a difference as some people are making it out to be.

  5. Here's where am I with this whole situation. For me, online check ins aren't a problem, I'm always connected and I don't play video games when I'm not, just the way I am. I also very rarely trade in games so the used game restrictions will not affect me (also, the people saying that Xbox will not allow used games are wrong, they have allowed it and are leaving the final decisions up to the publishers, you know, the guys that make the majority money off the game). The Kinect issues people have pointed out are also inaccurate. You can turn off the recording feature when not in use, or, this might be a shocker, you could turn it to face your tv so it can't see you.

So given that the Xbox One will be able to function as my cable box, will offer streaming of NFL games, will have 300,000 dedicated servers for Xbox Live, and Xbox has consistently provided the better online experience between the two platforms, Ill stick with Xbox for this generation for sure. The PS4 is a great system for sure, and I'll most likely get one at some point, but the same 3-4 talking points everyone's stuck to seem overblown to me so far.

  6. ALSO: just watching the 2012 Oregon "tape" and thus far, while he may put too much touch on his intermediate throws--but always to receivers in space, never to those in traffic--it's tough to say his arm lacks "strength" when in less than 3 minutes into a 13 minute video, I've seen him throw darts of 41 and 56 yards, on target, in stride, with not a ton of air underneath...And holy crap is this kid accurate...

I'm not the biggest Barkley fan although I wouldn't be upset if we picked him, but I think that Barkley doesn't get enough credit for his deep ball. Sure, he may not be able to throw it through a brick wall, but he has more than adequate arm strength to make all the throws, IMO. Also, I feel that Barkley takes an undue amount of criticism for USC's W/L. His stats have been very good all 4 years he has started.
