  1. The Baltimore game could've been a hilarious coincidence of TT just having a poor game, poor game planning, shaky OL after the Cordy injury, limited pre-season snaps and just being simply unprepared and outcoached.

It might not be the norm for the season. I'm expecting a much better showing against NY. Watching the post game interviews I've never seen the interviewees so deflated, even after previous big losses, It was like the media were interviewing Tom Brady's footballs.

They know how the fans feel about that performance, look for them to make amends.

    Bills 13 NY Jets 7.

  2. On aggregate, overall team talent is less than last year, at least on paper.

How can the Bills overcome that and actually be better?

If Tyrod improves substantially, everything else doesn't matter.

Another way: greatly reduce penalties with disciplined play on a consistent basis.

Another way: execution on a play-by-play basis. Quality execution and disciplined low penalty play alone are probably good for 1 to 2 wins over the course of an entire season.

Damn it, wrote my take above before I read this. Sorry for regurgitating your original thought.

  3. I think so, but there are a lot of if's.

    - If Tyrod continues to improve.

    - If the Ryan brothers simplified defence doesn't continue to confuse the heck out the players.

    - If they can get their plays in on time.

    - If they could somehow not lose half their offensive yardage to drive killing penalties.

    - If the defence would stop letting the opposing offense of the hook with stupid penalties when they were essentially stopped.

    - If they get a break or two.

    Ect...

So many if's, but if the execution improves, that would far outweigh any personnel losses. jmo

  4.

11-5 and good for fantasy points.

I told you when i got here, new england is done

I hope so. Brady seems to find reasons to play with a chip on his shoulder and generally makes teams suffer when he does.

This year he'll have a big chip on his shoulder so if he can't make teams suffer like he used to it's safe to say he is regressing, and New England along with him.

I hope he stubbornly keeps playing as he regresses like Manning, and retires a fraction of the QB he one was. Tyrod will rise in his place.

  5. His ceiling is quite high. Guy is already the fastest QB in the league. Throws a beautiful deep ball. Isn't a knucklehead. I'd take the risk and sign him rather than take the risk that he ends up costing way more a year down the road or costing too much that we let him go. He didn't grow up watching the Bills and he won't take a hometown discount. And he shouldn't. It's a business and he'll go wherever the money is.

It's a QB driven league. You gotta take chances when you think you have your guy.

I agree, it's risk vs reward. You can't afford to let even a middle of the pack QB get away and having to tag him will probably cost a lot more. It will give them room to sign Gilmore and plug some holes if need be.
  6. But aren't teams like Green Bay and New England in win-now mode? They don't mortgage the future for picks but they certainly aren't going to tear down the team and do a rebuild. They aren desperate. Not when they have a "franchise" QB. But they know and expect to win every year.

Every team has ups and downs, maybe not like the Bills, but when Brady and Rodgers retire they are going to be in the same world as everyone else looking for a QB.

Brady's play has bailed out so many patriots teams that would be average without him.

  7. I think the Bills had a very good Draft...

    But...

We really don't want to talk about best ever quite yet...do we?

85 - Bruce, Andre, and Reich...That's two Hall of Famers...One of the best back up QB's ever...Plus a solid starting CB in Derrick Burroughs... Burkett was OK...And Hal Garner was a hell of a special teams player...

87 - Conlon, Odomes, Mueller, Dr Sack, McKeller, and the steal of all steals House Ballard...Plus Biscuit was Drafted that year...I guess you could say in a roundabout way we traded for the #2 overall pick in 87...He never came close to playing for Indy...

    2016 has some tough company...

1983 deserves a mention as well. Kelly and Talley. No Kelly, no Superbowls.

1985 also saw Steve Tasker get drafted, even if it was too another team.

  8.

Agreed. I tend to see DW as an average GM in a very competitive field.

Hence our 8-8 record last year.

I'm hoping though that he continues to learn and grow.

I think last seasons record came down to coaching, which if i recall correctly the Rex hiring was an ownership decision.

Doug Whaley put together a playoff calibre team. The defence tanking and 8-8 record was all Rex.
