With pot now 100% legal here in California I’ve been partaking more than I did when I just had my medical card. It’s interesting to read about the effects of different strains. I don’t get to try a lot of them because I use so very little that a gram will literally last me months. I buy indica to help me sleep and sativa during the day on weekends.  Here’s the thing. How do you know what you’re getting?  With booze it was easy. An IPA tastes like an IPA. Pinot like a Pinot. Scotch like a Scotch etc etc. As many of you know I’m against over regulation by the government but things like this I’m ok with.

Oh and here’s the cool part. I live in the suburbs of Orange County so there are no dispensaries here so they deliver to your door. Had two deliveries since moving here over a year ago. Both times by a hottie.  “Hey baby...wanna get high?”   ?

I work in LE, so the whole "partaking" for the last 30+ years as been a big NO. I retire soon. Not saying I will, but the option will be there. I had my fair share before I got serious about going into LE as a career (before I was 18). My daughter has quite a few connections, dang CA kids (she also had her 420 card). It's on the list of things to consider...it wouldn't be a hard pass.

  2. DSB (Don't Stop Believing) a pretty good Journey tribute band. Saw them on a cruise ship, but they're based here in California. https://dsbband.com/

On a 6-degree of separation - Buffalo Bills football side note, their guitarist is the brother of former Bill (for a minute) Dean Cain.

  3. A summer concert, in theory, but in reality...no. I saw Randy Newman about a week ago (he's only playing two shows, one here in Santa Rosa and another in LA last time I checked). Awesome show! I know a handful of Randy Newman songs, some he didn't even play. Even the songs I didn't know, were dang good. Something about a piano, a gruff voice and I was mesmerized. I came away hooked on his songs, many are new to me. Excellent song writer, a bit of dark humor...if you ever get the chance, go for it.

  4. Not really interested in the bang for the buck, but instead a place I could enjoy living or spending time. We're still probably keeping our house here in California, but I can't seem to find that ideal other location. Arizona? South Carolina (coastal)? It pretty much depends on where the kids end up. If one comes back to California or stays back east? That's a huge factor. I've been to Florida enough to scratch it off the list. Snow - No! It is tough though, thinking of a big upheaval where you leave friends and family....that's why I'm thinking of a second home somewhere else. Somewhere we can go and hang out for a while, but always come back "home" to get that family / friend fix...and gather up more wine to take w/ me when we're away

  5. I live about an hour north of San Francisco. I've traveled all over and I have to believe this is the best climate. No snow. No humidity. The winters are not too cold. It only rains in the winter (bad for fire season). If it ever gets too warm, don't worry...our built in air conditioner (the fog) will come back and cool things off, so there is no oppressive heat. If it gets too hot, I can also go to the coast (15 miles) and feel a 20-30 temp change. I can drive a bit north to say...Healdsburg and get a 10 degree uptick in summer, drive a little south (Petaluma or SF) and get a little cooler. If I want to deal w/ snow...I can drive to Tahoe. It's all about the microclimates.

I've lived in Los Angeles since '91, so I don't get to attend too many games. But, I was at the Chargers game last year to witness Nate Peterman making history. :bag:

Also a West Coaster, that was my worst game too.

Close second, a game in 95 vs the 49ers. Bills & 49ers both 8-4 going into the game, Bills could have took a lead in the 3rd, but Darick Holmes fumbled at the 1, ball was ran back 99yds by the 49ers for a TD to go up 17-10, instead of vice versa. At that point, all 49er fans wanted to fight. Wonderful experience. It was then I realized 49er fans were no better than Raider fans. Oh yeah, Bills lost 27-17, fumble killed the vibe of the game.

The first time I ever heard of him was seeing his Iceland episode of No Reservations in 2005. I was enamored from that moment on. Read Kitchen Confidential, and Medium Raw, and retroactively watched A Cook's Tour and kept up with him through the years. He certainly lived his life to the fullest and this is NOT the way I thought he would go out.

Fittingly and most sadly, he was found by his best friend Eric Ripart who is an amazing chef and a great counterpart to Tony.

RIP, Anthony. I will miss your work terribly.

Same here. From the moment I first started watching him, I was mesmerized storytelling and way he carried himself. I read his first book, saw him on the lecture circuit when he came to our city. He was cool personified. Once again, proves we really don't know the demons people face on a daily basis. Mental Health issues don't discriminate.

About 15 years ago, my wife saw a "for sale" sign on a metallic blue '65 Mustang coup, my favorite color, vintage, and model. I called the guy and set up a time to check it out. It was beautiful. I took it for a test drive and when I got to a stop light, the engine started running rough. The owner (in the passenger seat) reached for the shifter, put it into neutral, and told me to rev it up. "It's the only way to keep it running while idling," he said. Then he told me that he'd brought it to four different mechanics and nobody could figure out what was wrong with it.

It was a damn fine-looking car, but I passed on it. I'm glad I did - it would have been a money pit.

Mine was a Tahoe Turquoise 66 coupe.  I loved that car, but yes...it was a money pit. I took care of all the cosmetic work, new paint job, reupholstered the seats, new carpet. I just couldn't keep up w/ everything that kept breaking on the damned thing. I garaged it for a number of years before I sold it to some guy he was going to fix it up and give it to his 16yr old daughter for her birthday.  It wasn't fun for me anymore. I grew up.

  9. My 66 Mustang's heater core rusted out (back in 90?). Being a poor college student, I couldn't afford to fix it. No defrost, no heat. Winters and cool mornings were fun. Same car, all lights on the dash went out (beyond fuse replacement issue). So not only was I cold, had a frosty windshield...I had no idea how fast / slow I was going while driving at night. It looked good though!!

I forgot to add some info to my reply after I saw the communication between @707BillsFan& @RochesterRob

The town I live in has a restriction of 30 mph for all trains (Amtrak & CSX) thru the town. In addition, there is a restriction on train audio whistles/horns thru the town but unsure of the exact wording of that restriction.

Our train (SMART) has been going less than a year. They tested the trains for about 8 mos prior to starting customer service. During testing, they'd run all day and sometimes night. Early on (before the ordinances), that damned whistle / horn was an annoyance. I live about a 1/4 mile away from the track w/ crossing. Quiet neighborhood, that and the dinging bells echoed through the area. People complained, they stopped. There's a sign posted stating it's a non-whistling blowing area...so be careful. Not sure how fast this train goes, but it does reach up to near 80 mph in some stretches.

On another side note...we're thankful for the new train. They cleaned up the old tracks and plant life along the corridor. Save our home during our fires in October, created a nice buffer zone so the fire didn't completely jump.

  11. We VRBO'd a house in Fairport, NY that had the canal across the street. Across the canal were the train tracks. Didn't think anything of it....until 3am came around, every dang night. Wonderful house. Great location. I don't know how people do it night in and night out. Train horn blowing @ 3am. I wonder if engineer who drives the train has a little smile on his face whenever he does that so early.

On a side note....trains have long left our area. We now have a commuter train that runs from 6am to midnight. Certain areas (neighborhoods where these trains go thru) have been designated quiet areas so they can't blow the whistle while travelling thru.

  12. Got to be either Best Foods (West Coast's Hellmans) or Kraft Mayo

Tide detergent...once in a while I'll get ALL if Costco has a great deal, but absolutely no off brand

Cereals -- only brand names, depending on what I'm eating at the time, no store brand for me

    Fine I’ll spare the As.

But you wouldn’t be a fan of their team if you went into their office. They have like their ALCS trophy next to their water cooler. Place is a mess that doesn’t pay their players.

But 100% !@#$ the warriors and everyone else.

You don't have to spare them. I've been an A's fan since the mid-70's. What? Am I going to all of a sudden become a bandwagon Yankee or Giants fan...like everyone else? Nope. Eventually they'll get their new ballpark and have a place to put all their trophies.
