  1. His drinking and drug use was widely known here in the Bay Area. He'd show up to local shows plastered, often forgetting the lyrics. I guess luckily I caught him on a good day many years ago at a concert here in town. Another rocker from my childhood X'd out. On a side note, caught his TV show on AXS a few weeks back. He looked REAL bad, was surprised he was still performing in his condition.

  2. That's the problem with teams not playing their starters in the preseason. Practice and scrimmages are not the same as a full speed game. I was disappointed after watching that Bears / Packers game, knowing that very well could be the Bills tomorrow. It'll probably take teams a couple weeks to get the offense going into full swing. Do the Bills have a couple weeks? Each / Every game is important...especially one against a division rival.  If we do lose and he does end up playing like Rodgers or Trubisky did the other night, this board and others will be intolerable.

  3. Kinda off topic, but I was curious about the next storm name, E...found out it would be Erin. I was curious if there ever was an Eric (my name). I found this:

On January 16, the storm developed-hurricane-force winds and Eric began to undergo rapid deepening. ... Shortly after its peak, Eric began to weaken steadily, and by January 20, Severe Tropical Cyclone Eric had ceased to exist

Yep, pretty much the story of my life. ?

I am with you re Starbucks— very burned taste. I only will drink Americanos there.

I think it all depends on the store. Yes, some stores, not each/every time, do have that burned flavor. Unfortunately, Starbucks coffee isn't isn't universal in flavor. There's human interaction to F it up.

On a side note, just bought a bag of Peet's "Big Bang" coffee...pretty good.

  5. Go to Genesee Brew House, get some drinks (flight of beers, many of their crafts are pretty dang good) and some good eats. Afterwards, hang out and watch the High Falls for a spell. Then walk over and catch a Red Wings game (if she likes baseball).

  6. I think the most important question is...why is there a flight from Chicago to South Bend? It's a 90 minute drive. 55 minutes (10 minutes of air time?) to fly at a cost of $277/rt. Considering you have to get to the airport early, it's actually quicker (and cheaper) to drive or take.....a train, which is also 90 minutes. Who are the people that fly this route? Why is that flight full? This is probably a regular thing for her, since it's usually empty. On a side note...snitches get stitches. Let me take a photo of them on their worst day of work.

  7. After high school, I took my 1.5 GPA to Santa Rosa Junior College. Needless to say, I needed to mature a bit. I was dating my future wife at the time and realized (minimum wage, $3.25 at the time, wasn't going to make for a happy life). I managed to grow up, moved onto Sacramento State a couple/few years later and got my BS. Now 27 years later, retired, happy...and I can be a slacker once again.

Unless you play athletics or are getting a scholarship to attend a 4-yr, the JC/CC route is the way to go, especially if you're indecisive about a career path.

  8. Glad all is good, but please keep those down there. Last one we had nearby was the 6.0 in Napa. I was in Sacramento for the '89 quake and didn't feel a thing. Just PO'd they were delaying the World Series for a measly little earthquake. Little did I know....?

That’s the musical equivalent of the board’s ‘Peter Pan’ picture.  ???

Said the closet Rollermanic who probably has tartan stashed away in their closet. Just looking for something not cliche' like Pink Floyd, that nobody would ever say. BTW...if you've had a  "Behind the Music" episode...you've made it ?

I have heard the opposite from some people I know in the beer business a bit..they have said Bud has been pretty hands off at Goose and Devils Backbone in terms of the beer..marketing and distribution are obviously a whole nother thing!!!

I hope that's the case. The people who have talked, had been in the marketing portion of Lagunitas. So I do hope the rest of the business is left alone. It's still the same atmosphere when you visit. Apparently the new CEO is letting them continue doing what they've been doing w/o too much interference.

We are staying near the mall, I was thinking wings wings wings, Dave and Busters, escape room, more wings. Am I missing anything? Someone wants to go the zoo, is that open in late September?

Escape City Buffalo might be the best in the area. Whenever we visit, we go and try the latest room. If you've done escape rooms before, these are like no other.

i will have to try one of those...

funny how beer geeks and small brewery owners get all pissed when one of their brethern get bought by a giant..but seems to me most of these places are still turning out great beer..like above

I'd like to think Heineken would just let Lagunitas to continue to do what they've been doing w/o too much interference, but it's a huge corporation and that's probably not reasonable to expect that to happen. There have been a few high level people who have left that have said it's not the same anymore (big corporate interference). It's no longer our little Sonoma County brewery, but as long as they keep pumping out good alternatives to their standard batches...I'm fine.
