  1. Your point is well taken, and for the most part you're right, but sometimes coaches make the wrong decision for a number of reasons. Let's not forget there was a time when James Hardy and Lee Evans were starting and Stevie was on the PS.

Wow! That really puts things into perspective.

Now that I think about it, there was a similar pleed from Bills fan to give Stevie some reps based on his pre season and very limited action he received. I really think Easley can be a really good receiver. But like another poster said, this is the second group of coaches. And if they aren't putting him in there must be a reason.

  2. Easley is like a folk legend around these parts. I agree, I'd rather see Easley on the field too but keep some things in mind.

    1) There seems to be a need/feel that Graham has more value than Easley. They were only drafted 1 round apart. Graham 3rd rounder Easley 4th

    2) Graham did get behind his man consistently. E.J. failed to get him the ball

    3) Graham's speed on the field helps to open up all of that dink and dunk stuff that the Bills offense seems to be based on.

    4) E.J. throws more check downs than Trentative....so it won't really matter anyway.

  3. Pettine, in his first game did an excellent job. Considering the talent (or lack of) he had in the secondary. The Dline consistently had pressure and the secondary was very aggressive and in the right spots to make plays. So far very impressed. Just shows you how much of a bonehead Wonstache was. As for Hackett? NOt impressed at all. I couldn't help but wonder how things would look with Chan calling plays. Spiller is our biggest weapon but how do you constantly run him in the middle????? IN the same formation???? Stevie Johnson is our second biggest weapon. How many times was he targeted??? Slant passes to Stevie was our bread and butter for years, where did that go? The lack of formations, and creativity was baffling. I am really concerned about Hackett as well. It's only one game so I am not saying he should be canned or anything but that offense of game plan was putrid. Spiller does most of his damage outside the tackles. Freddie does most of his damage between the tackles.

  4. That's what I remember. There was always more space between Clements and his man that between Winfield and his. Clements was always higher risk/high reward for the INTs. I sometimes thought he was baiting QBs to throw to his guy. From my memory, McGee was as good at making a play on the ball as Clements, but would showboat less. Winfield would often choose to just bat down passes when I thought he had a chance to catch them (or drop an attempt to catch).

And, though I'm defending McGee in this thread (from people saying "very good" CB was drastically over-rating him), Winfield was a much better CB. I think Clements was also a better CB than McGee, but not by that much. That said, I'd rather a handful of "McGees" on my team.l

Agree totally on how Winfield played his man and Clements. Very good analysis. I thought McGee pressed his man a little more than Clements.

Heck, when Winfield and Clements left, McGee was without a doubt the best CB on our roster for a few years. But he is just not as good as those guys. Winfield went signed a big contract and made a pro bowl or two. Clements at one point was the highest paid corner or defesnive player in the league and he might have made a pro bowl as well. "Because of their CB Skills". Those guys were in pro bowls for CB play McGee would never have been considered for CB play. What did McGee's big contract look like compared to theirs? Also, as long as Winfield and Clements were in Bills uniform, McGee was NEVER a starter unless someone was injured. Heck Troy Vincent was brought in to start over McGee. From reading his post, JR seems to misinformed and doesn't seem to have an understanding of CB play.

  5. Some of you guys are so obsessed with stats. Stats don't often give you the whole picture. Yes McGee was a good corner back. No doubt about that. But he would have never been anything close to a pro bowl at the corner back position. Never. He was a good player and very good returner.

Winfield was the best Bills corner I've seen in a Bills uniform in my over 20 years of being a fan. Clements a close second and I don't remember enough of Odoms play to say if he or Thomas Smith is 3rd but my instinct would say Odoms. Winfield was an all around corner. He did not get the picks but that dude was probably the best tackling CB I"ve seen. Especially for his size.

Terrence Mcgee as far as CB ability to me was much more on par with Jeff Burris.

McGee was never going to lock down a side of the field for you or anything like that. He was a good solid nfl corner back.

Get your heads out of the stats boys. It doesn't give you the whole picture. Use your eyes.

And I forgot to mention. McGee was a nickle corner for a good chunk of his career. Who were the two corners ahead of him??????? Exactly

  6. In his prime he was one of the great Bills. His returns were a thing of beauty. A Total team player.

I like Terrence Mcgee but one of the great Bills????? That's funny.

He was a middle of the pack NFL Starting CB in his prime and a Top 3 or 5 return man in the league. Doesn't make him A Bills great.

He's much closer to Leodis Mckelvin than say a Nate Clements and Nate Clements wasn't a Bills great.

And who ever said that McGee had better cover skills than Winfield ought to have their posting privileges taken away.

  7. im sure you remember my post about sj slot wr. I said hes gone in two years "if" rogers is any good. Now w one preseason game and 7 catches Easley is the new super star. But isn't it due to tuel throwing him almost every pass when he was on the field? he caught 7 balls for a very sj like 13 yards a catch. before this game he was considered a cut by most now hes a lock for the bills or some nfl team. Hes not shown anything yet except the ability to catch perfectly thrown passes. But yes SJ did get most of the targets from fitz, its not hard to get a 1000 yards in a season when you get 10+ chances a game to catch a football.

I think a lot of posters don't ever look up the height and weight of the players. someone else here said tj reminds them of Donald jones. WTF? ones huge and has marginal speed, the others small light and has exceptional speed. TJ has lee evans speed but needs another season to show if he can handle being a "two". hes bigger than Goodwin who will be the 3 or 4 for this team. I saw Goodwin as a replacement for TJ but hes apparently had a great preseason ( in practice anyway) so maybe that's why hes a starter so far. No matter how good Goodwin is he'll never start as a 1 or 2, hes too small. As a 2 TJ barely has the size so it depends on his hands. Woods is about the smallest you want as a starter at 190 and 6'1 hes like peerless price.

I think Desean Jackson would have something to say about your post.

  8. Wow what a great job of scouting. Tuel went undrafted. And this guy can ball. Great touch on the longer throws and I love the way he sells the pa fakes. You can tell very early on this guy is going to be good. As a starter or better backups, I don't know but he is good.

But before we talk about cutting Kolb, we have got to see the guy play in a Bills uniform first.

This dink and dunk stuff is designed to keep it simple for the rookie qb's. during regular season things will look much different.

  9. Don't forget special teams gents. And Easley is a contributor in coverage and returns on specials. That and his performance will put him on the final roster. The Bills would be FOOLS to cut him. Rogers is going straight to the practice squad. He didn't necessarily have an outstanding performance.

IN seriousness, Marucs Easley might be one of the best Bills players in pre-season history. Sounds foolish doesn't it.....I tell you this....the reason why Easley has been such an enigma is because of his pre season performance. It wasn't like he was a day 1 pick. and he isn't the first bigger receiver to run a 4.4. The guy has made the most of all of his opportunities in the pre season. If he can stay healthy the guy should get a chance to be on the field.

Lastly, why is TJ the starter???? That guy hasn't showed anything.

  10. What's the big deal? Anyone can buy the same exact shirt for $80. People overreact to absolutely everything these days. It's just a shirt. Geez.

Agreed. People have too much time apart and now they are analyzing the mans shirt. Smh. In don't care if he is a 1 or 2 we because he produces 1000 yard seasons. He is being true to himself and not the should and oughts of a bills message board. If he wasn't on the team we wouldn't have ANYONE doing national interviews regularly. Some stuff he says is over board I agree but the guy is not in serious trouble with the law.

  11. Can't agree any more. Schoebel was one of the few top-level productive player in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills in the 2000's. He never gets his due. He was our sole pass rusher all those years and never got much support other than the years played by Spikes.

good point. I didn't take into consideration that he didn't get much help on the dline....He probably will never make the bills wall much less the hall.....i don't view him as a pro bowler but just a notch below....as far the moulds thing go, I'll let it go. I really think that poster has something personal against moulds but when people who played the game top tier players and coaches call the guy elite then that says alot.

  12. 1) Mario Williams. - He was not put in the best positions last year, was injured and still had double digit sacks. Not to mention hurries.

    2) Stevie Johnson - Consistent. Productive. Reliable. Sturdy.

    3) C.J. Spiller - Exlosive. Big play maker game changer. But can he handle a full time load? Can he settle for 2 yd plays?

    4) Jarius Byrd - Makes some big plays and is the occasional game changer. Solid tackler. Solid in coverage.

    5) Eric Wood - Very consistent. Keeps the line together. Gets good push on the ball. Rarely beat. Rarely penalized

Runners up: Kyle Williams, Marcel Dareus, Stephon Gilmore

  13. First of all that Baldobillz guy has odd takes. He seems to really have something person against Moulds. Stevie does get open really well off the line. But what about after 10 yards???

You want to talk about slowing down, think about the deep balls Stevie caught over the 2011 2010 and compare it with last year????

Stevie is not even in the same class as Moulds....Let's get that straight

Moulds, as great as he was, is not in the class of Andre Reed......let's get that straight. Andre Reed will eventually get in the HOF, Moulds will never get in......Reed is possibly the best receiver EVER as far as RAC. Reed was an outstanding route runner. Outstanding hands....but just because Moulds isnt an Andre Reed, is not a knock to Moulds in anyway.

The poster who "hints" that Shobel was better than Moulds. Not even close. Shobel not even better than Winfield. Very close with Pat Williams for 3rd. I'd probably give Shobel the slight nod at 3rd. I consider Winfield pretty darn close to Moulds as far as a overall football player.

Also, why in the heck would you compare Moulds to receivers who were mostly intermediate and deep targets?? Moulds was an all around receiver. He did short, intermediate and deep.

Don't fall in love with the stats. People who know football, who saw him play go by the eye test. And the eye test says this guy was an elite receiver. I remember the hoody saying Moulds was one of the best receivers in the league, I heard T.O. say it, Andre Johnson said it, Jerry Rice said it.....so sorry Badolbeelz but I would take the opinion of pros who played the position over your "opinion"

  14. Slappin' butts? You really don't know what he did, do you?

Let's see, you just insulted bald guys and kids who grew up without dads in your post. You covered about 2/3 of the TBD community in one swoop. Way to make your point.

This is exactly the kind of rose colored memory that I am talking about. Moulds was nothing like Stevie as a receiver. Stevie is always open. Moulds got deep because he went deep A LOT. But that part of his game consistently declined each year. And no, he didn't get cut because he was too big.....he was old and slow. He started having leg problems in 1999 and it slowed him down. Just look at his YPC.

Sounds like you have a very biased view of Moulds. I didn't view Moulds as leaper. I stand corrected. i will say this, I dont think he was the type of red zone threat that you just lob the ball up there and he grabs it. I just didn't see it and I saw every game he played in a Bills uniform.

Stevie is always open???????? Confusing that you would say that. Steive certainly does a great job getting open of the line. But he has some difficulty getting separated. Stevie is a legit 1 receiver but he is not in the class of E Moulds. let's just get that straight.
