  1. I don't want to repeat my posts, but I am still not clear on why our team is supposed to be so much worse than the 7-9 we have hit (frustratingly) the last three seasons. I think the 5-11 and 4-12 crew is in the "Nah, that girl would never talk to me" crowd and is probably pessimistic through cowardice and fear of failure.

I think we have a better overall offense than last year, and I think we have a better overall defense than last year. I think our coaching will be frustratingly identical to last year. I think we will be 8-6 or 9-5 when not playing New England. So I am saying 9-7 but hoping for a lucky bounce to get us to 10-6, and know that 8-8 is very possible especially with any important injuries.

Preseason ups are never as high as they seem and preseason downs are never as low as they seem. Even if we get manhandled in week 1 to drop to 0-1, I think that is our hardest game of the entire season, and will maintain my optimism until at least week 2.

    Go Bills

Too many tough road games, although the always seem tough regardless of the opponent, and time is needed to get the O line going. 5 - 11.

  2. hurray for you mr. obvious!

although the season hasn't started yet, so nothing's proven.

lets just hope you, i and about 5000 other members of this site are wrong.

Cut the guy some slack. If it so obvious to everyone, how come the Bills Front Office neglected the O line for years and spent millions on guys like Kelsay and Schobel. Yes, it is preseason, but if guys are getting physically whipped one on one then it is something to be very concerned about. Gameplanning and scheming only goes so far. The Bills got to four SBs not only because of Kelly, Reed, B. Smith, and T. Thomas but because of a strong O line that could dominate and because they consistently put pressure on the opposing QB with Smith, Hansen, Wright, Biscuit, and Talley. Bill Polian please come back!!!

I think this is about as close as you can get at this point. I'm a little concerned at WR. Johnson and Hardy have been injured as well as Owens. I think Jenkins might make it because of injuries and they like him on Special Teams. TE is a mess. No one clearly sticks out yet although Nelson may later in the season. Schouman will probably make the team even though I don't think he is all that good. The Bills have some tough calls for a change.

  4. What Bills fan can't imagine a scenario where we lose a quality starter after his first contract is up? Seems to be, to some degree, the MO of this front office. Then we'll use a high first round pick to replace that player, hence the reason we're always fighting for 7-9 seasons.

The front office also likes to spend an inordinate amount of money on mediocre players like Kelsay!

  5. The reality is that there would be no noticeable difference between Schobel Kelsey and Denny and their backups. Frankly I would be inclined to cut all three.

I think a year from now you will get what you want. Maybin whenever he signs will replace one. They will replace the other two with guys already on the roster, draft, or Free agency.

  6. You just know he will have a plan, it might even be legal

I went to the Sunday night game two years ago when Brady and the Pats just killed the Bills. I can't remember the score, something like 56-10. It was demoralizing in so many ways. To me talent difference between the teams hasn't changed that much. Owens makes the Bills a better team but the Bills will have to play a perfect or near perfect game to have any chance. Even then you have DJ who inexplicably is still the HC!

  7. Let's wait until Shawn Nelson, Eric Wood or whatever we do with our 6th round pick next year make the pro-bowl or impress in a regular season game before we say that we won the trade.

I agree with what you said. I would also factor in the huge contract Peters would have received had he stayed with the Bills. Had the Bills signed Peters to a huge deal I don't think they would have signed T.O. as well. IMO

  8. You know these threads don't have to turn into an attack on the poster. Just because I have an opinion that differs from yours, somehow I'm a retard. Maybe I'm the smart one here and everyone else is wrong. Maybe not. That's what makes TBD so great. I'd like to hear some constructive counterpoint.

I already gave it to you. The poster doesn't have to be attacked nor do the people that respond to the posting. Lynch is undeniably the # 1 rb but that doesn't mean he should sit out the preseason because of his 3 game suspension.

  9. I'll watch it again at 8pm...but I could have sworn they announced Simpson as the starter on the local TV broadcast. In any case, there's no doubt he played with the first team. He played in every quarter of the game, and he got beat twice on big plays. We'll see...but they have done this with a lot of players they were going to cut early.

I think he's on the bubble maybe done. He hasn't been the same since his injury and the offseason arrest does not help. :)

  10. the first three games. With our OL still coming together and Lynch not needing to play until week 4, why not let the RBs that are going to play get the reps?

Am I the only one that thinks this coaching staff is mildly retarded?

After watching Hard Knocks with the Bengals last week, I can only imagine being able to listen in to the jewels of wisdom our coaching staff comes up with to justify their logic.

Dude he needs to get into playing shape. As you know there is a big difference between being in shape and football shape. He is not going to be that sharp that first week or two that he gets back. Not letting him play in the preseason would only compound the problem.

  11. I am confused, there are people protesting the Eagles and Mike Vick. While i dont condone what he did, there are worse people in the NFL. Was anyone in St.Louis protesting when Leonard Little killed a woman while driving drunk?....Or Stallworth? It was ok for Brett Favre to abuse painkillers? Its ok if you have 9 bastard children?....Lets put all of that aside, i love animals i have 4 dogs, 2 of which have 3 legs, and yes even a handicapped pitbull who was negected and abused. She had her front leg amputated as a result. But i do not consider what Vick did to be worse then what others in this league has done. I just think he is an easier target. I believe he paid his dues to society and raised awareness to animal abuse. Im sure if i wasent a little buzzed i could think of other examples. But overall i think you get my point...Right Ray Lewis?

Dude your post has awoken every swinging d--k out there. Almost like a Roscoe Parrish punt return for a TD!

What Ray Lewis and Leonard Little did led to Goodell coming up with the Personal Conduct Policy IMO. Brett Favre was hurting himself not others so I don't think he is in the same boat. Stallworth was just suspended for the 2009 season. I think people are upset with Vick because they don't think he deserves to be in the league. He has his "second" chance by serving his sentence but people want him to go away and do something else. Perhaps people view playing in the NFL as a privelege as well as possessing a certain level of skill. I have dogs myself and I have mixed feelings on the whole issue. I'm glad the Bills did not sign him.

  13. I wish Dick Jauron was more like MIKE SINGLETARY.

Yours? I'm trying to think about attributes of current NFL coaches that I wish DJ had more of. I will say that Dick Jauron seems like a good man on/off the field; therefore, I wish him the best. I just wish he had some more spark.

I wish Dick Jauron was more like all of the other former Head Coaches for the Bills - former!

  14. my biggest fear is a 4-12 season.. which we might well end up at

I hope it is not that bad but I'm afraid it won't be any better than 6 - 10. After what happened last year, I'm not sure what it takes to get DJ fired. The O-line is going to take awhile for it to click and the D-line needs an infusion of talent.

  15. Can anyone remember a free agent who visited the Bills and left without a contract, only to sign with the Bills a few days later? In recent years, it seems that all the free agents who sign with the Bills sign the day of their visit.

  16. Home: Miami, New England, N.Y. Jets, Houston, Indianapolis, Cleveland, New Orleans, Tampa Bay

Away: Miami, New England, N.Y. Jets, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Kansas City, Atlanta, Carolina

    Hmmm let's see.....Miami-loss x 2, NE- loss x 2, Indy-loss, Tampa-Loss, Tenessee- Loss, Atlanta- Loss, Carolina, Loss

Another 7-9 Dick Jauron season here we come

I think 7-9 is optimistic for 2009. Jacksonville, Houston, Cleveland, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Jets (twice) all wins for the Bills? Interesting.

  17. At this point 09 does not look good for the Bills. It's not so much that they are not overspending on free agents, but the front office does not seem to have a plan to address their needs. Polian was the only GM we had here that knew how to put a winning team together. No wonder Ralph did not like him....it costs money to win.

Amen. The Bills are really rolling the dice. If the start of their schedule is tough which is quite possible, they may be looking at an 0-2, 0-3, 0-4 start maybe worse. You think the fans are annoyed add an 0-4 start to the 09 season! Yikes!
