Well, it was suppose to be her big day. She unveiled a pretty damn big proposal and considering she has been lagging in the polls and having a horrible summer, I'm guessing she was hoping that she could change the narrative with her "big ideas". Well, the narrative changed, but not in the way she had hoped.

Doesn't work that way. Look at what happened with Romney, Republican voters dislike Obama more than they dislike Hillary and many on the further end of the right spectrum didn't show up to pull the lever for Romney, because in their views he was no different than Obama (which is asinine) Enthusiasm matters in campaigns. If you have a candidate that inspires it doesn't just translate in showing up for the polls but it shows up in helping volunteer for that candidate by making phone calls, knocking on doors, contributing money etc. Also if you are fired up about a candidate you may convince your family and friends to show up, whereas if it's a choice of the lesser of two evils, you most likely just quietly go to the polls, hold your nose and cast your ballot. In regards to just me, no way I'd ever vote for Trump. I don't trust his temperament, if someone in his view disrespects him, he'd be prone to ratchet up the tensions with his actions which of course could lead to trade sanctions, freezing of cooperation between the two countries and maybe even war. Plus, he's a protectionist and protectionism is really bad for the economy. Not to mention that we would be the laughing stock of the world. The reasons are endless.

Of course not, her gun is aimed at the serious candidates. As far as she's concerned, it's a dream come true seeing Trump have the spot light on the GOP side. Here is another Poll from Iowa that shows Trump up by 4.5%. Sounds good, right? His base of devoted followers/support is higher than anyone else's, but his ceiling is much lower than the top tier candidates. He simply is too unlikable not just among the general population but among GOP voters as well.

The PPP poll has Trump up by 6.5% in the state of Iowa. The very same poll also shows What this reconfirms is that Trump has the most fervent supporters, those that like him are pulling the lever for him and when you have a field as large as this one with 17 candidates, he's going to take the lead. But there are are nearly twice as many people who dislike him as those that do like him, meaning that once the field begins to whittle down, he's going to get smoked. As much as I like Bush on a substantive level, I just don't believe he will be able to get a high turnout with republicans. Same goes with Trump, he can fire up the right wingers, but many of the traditional and moderate republicans won't come out to vote for him. So it's gotta be someone who can meld the two and to me there really are only two options that can do that and that is either Scott Walker or Rubio. Maybe Fiorina, but now that she spoke out against St. Trump and Mark Levin basically gave the signal to not trust her, she's gonna be seen as just another "Rhino" among the most hard core of the right.

Not even Jon Huntsman can win as a GOP senate candidate in that state.

I don't quite understand how TGreg doesn't understand this simple little differentiation, it's really not that difficult to understand. Of course the show isn't packaged as news, that goes without saying, the argument is that many people view it as comedy/news and that Jon Stewart is an advocate for the causes he supports as O'Reilly is an advocate for the causes he supports.

That's not the argument, the argument is that many people get their news from the Daily Show. Not that the Daily show is a a news show. There is a difference. If you were to ask the average millennial where do you get your news, MSNBC or the Daily Show? What do you think they would say? Of course we know the answer to this, and it's not even close. More than twice as many millennials get their news from the Daily show than MSNBC. No matter how you slice it and dice it, the reality is that the Daily show IS where many people go to get their news, and Jon Stewart understands this. He not only knows that many people will take his comedy as news but that he is often attempting to move the needle to advance the causes he cares for.

Actually perception can and in this case IS reality for many.

It's the cult of personality with Trump. His hardcore supporters will stay with him, so I wouldn't expect any changes in support from them. However, if you were someone who was open to taking a good look at him and you hadn't already decided that he was your guy going into the debate, then he certainly didn't win hardly any of those people over. If you happened to get on the Trump Bandwagon over the past week or so, my guess is that some of that support has eroded because of this debate. He's been polling at an avg of around 22-23% recently. My guess is in a week that will drop down to around 19%. It wouldn't surprise me though if I was off with that. I think the beneficiary of Trump's drop most likely will be Cruz. People who like Trump, generally like Cruz. Rubio did well, he came across as very polished. I would expect maybe a 1-2% increase in his numbers, but more importantly I believe the GOP donor class is where the impact of his successful debate performance will be most felt. My suspicion is that more big GOP $$'s will be coming his way. Jeb looked ok. My guess is that he may lose some support to Kasich and Rubio. Christie had a good evening, but he's too damaged to be viable in the GOP primaries. This is a horse race. Rubio, Kasich, Jeb, Scott Walker are the most viable candidates but I was very impressed with Carly and will begin giving her a more serious look. She's serious, accomplished, fluid and measured. I like that.

God forbid that someone who has a successful executive track record in the state of Ohio who helped balance the budget when he was in congress has an appeal to those in the opposing party. The horror!
