  1. But the other side of the coin is if he does fire Jauron, he's afraid he'll just hire another dud. And he knows every day he wakes up is a bonus day. He could be gone any day now and none of this will matter to him. As frustrating as this mess is I think Ralph is set on riding it out.

My thinking also. I think that Wilson believes he is too old to start over and that's the main reason he didn't dump Jauron last year. It was wishful thinking mostly. I think that he has other things on his mind these days besides the Bills.

  2. I know that this sentiment may not be shared by very many people here, but I want to say that I admire Dick Jauron's character. I watch his press conferences and I am struck by how candid he is under the worst possible conditions and how ready he is to take the blame for his players, even when some of them (like TE) deserve a lot more than he does. I've been there and it takes a tremendous amount of perspective on life and courage to behave the way he does. I knoe people here hate him for not blowing up like Jim Mora or Denny Green, but the fact is, he is a bigger man than them.

Unfortunately, this does not change the fact that he has not gotten the job done and needs to go. He is accountable for his teams performance and he knows this better than anyone. I don't revel in this. I really wish that he had done better here.

  3. I saw that too! He was definitely tearing up.

I think Jauron has the most Moral Super Bowl wins in history. He was probably thinking about who he was going to thank after the game for another 'win.'

I believe the correct term would be "psychological victory". I don't see how anything that happens on the football field can represent a "moral victory" unless it's the forces of good versus evil or something.

  4. You shouldn't risk challenging that call because you need your time outs at the end of a close game that you are currently losing. You just need to go for it to try and light a charge under your team and stop playing Russian roulette with the Saints offense. I know, percentages, blah blah blah, but anyone with a feeling for the pulse of the game knew that we needed to go for that.

  5. I think the biggest problem is, well I am not a coach, but I still can see every time TE audibles at the line, its then a run, I even heard early in the game when TE audibles the LB on the Saints started yelling its a run, its a run. If I can tell this without studying game film, the people getting paid to notice, definitely notice.

I saw this too. It's surprisingly common. I saw the same the same thing with Indianapolis and the NY Giants. It's not always an audible from a pass to a run, it's often a called run where the QB decides where the play is going based on the defense that he sees and communicates this to the team at the line of scrimmage. It's pretty effective, especially if once in a while the audible is to a play action pass that goes over the top of a safety that is cheating up based on the audible.

On another note... We make it way to easy for the defense to double team the guys they want to. TO and Evans are very easy to find. They are ALWAYS on opposite sides of the formation and ALWAYS the wide receivers. If they would line them up in the slot, in the backfield, as a wing-back, on the same side, etc. then it wouldn't be so easy.

  6. I suggest some creativity on offense to get our WRs the ball.

Put TO in motion or throw to him out of the backfield to get him away from the double team. Put TO in the slot and have him work the middle some. How about putting TO and Evans on the same side and have TO work the middle. What happened to those screen passes we saw in week 1? Etc.

  7. Team,

What needs to happen is Freddy staying the starter.........period. Marshawn is to much of a personal risk and has at times seemed to run to the wrong hole (s). Marshawn is a good talent. But not the right fit for the Bills. The Bills lockerrom has appeared to rally around Freddy, and for a young team, the lockerrom perception is immensely important. The BILLS FO should allow Marshawn time to "promote" his talents on the field as a backup to Freddie. Then the FO should trade Marshawn out of Buffalo by the trade deadline.

Initially, I would say that they can split carries 50-50, but then I think of Madden always saying that "when a team says that it has two backs, that really means that it doesn't have any." One of them is going to have to be the guy that gets 70% of the downs, including the ones at crunch time. I think that Marshawn is the better runner, but Lynch's versatility has been very valuable in the current offense.

  8. McKinnie sat out until November his rookie year. If he sits-out, I'll think he's crazy. That is, unless the 49'ers trade him for a high first-round and Crabtree gets that huge deal he was looking for.

This is what's going to happen. I expect that it will be in the next few weeks.

  9. I don't see how this can work out in Crabtree's favor. He is holding out because he wants top 5 money, so why would he be happy with even less money if he drops in the draft? He will either get drafted in the top 5 and get paid what he wants (which, after a year away from football, I doubt) or his agent will agree to a reduced deal with tons of escalator clauses BEFORE anyone will risk drafting him later than that. I expect the latter. My guess is that teams will be willing to try a late 1st round early second round pick with the right kind of deal.

  10. Martz actually went on and on about the first one thrown. He said it was about as perfect a pass as possible because it kept the receiver in bounds offered the defensive player no chance to make a play. I think I'll trust him when it comes to evaluating passes given his track record ...

Well Daryl Johnston, who actually watched the game live, thought the passes to Evans were underthrown. It's kind of like a court case- you can always find an "expert" who agrees with what you think. As I remember, two went for TDs and three didn't, so that's a pretty good percentage on those kind of routes. I'll take it, however it looked.

  11. i say keep roscoe, what happens next yr when t.o is gone???what about the special teams threat?????

If Parrish could play like TO, we wouldn't have needed him in the first place. Roscoe is battling for the 4th wr spot. Realistically, he is a special teams player only and replaceable by others on our roster. He's a good returner but if we can get a 5th round pick or better, I say move him.

  12. hes been average at best so far

hes a former qb he shouldnt need weeks to know how to call plays

also trent edwards audibled out of a run play on 3rd and 1? to throw the touchdown to evans

I know what you're saying. I call plays all the time in Madden. How hard can it be?
