  1. Look if everyplayer you mentioned on that list was good we wouldnt be 7-9 for three straight years now would we?

Peters is a solid player is he worth over 10 mil a year for one player? Some say yes some say no. I personally think everytime hes unhappy hes going to renegoitiate his salary though is play might not warrant it. The fact was if he wanted a big ontrat he should have ome to camp and been a team player. He would make our team better by subtracting him and getting more picks to fill more spots.

Parrish Prolofic return guy not much of a reciever the question with him is he worth 4 mil a year just to return punts. I cannot answer that. Im not opposed to trading him nor am i opposed to keeping him. Either way we would have a solid player or player

Schoebel is on the down slide and making too much money we could easily upgrade here.

MCgee is a proflic retruner and an average at best cornerback. How many return men do we need. I would rather have a true shutdown corner or a corner that can make big plays he is most certainly gone next year so we should get value for him now!

Edwards Yet to prove he can stay healthy, play in cold weather, play in winter conditions, has also shown he cannot shake things mentally. After throwing three ints in one qtr he was a mess and never got better from that point. He can be upgraded and if hes not I am willing to give him the yer since he has noone that can take the job form him over the course of the year unfotunatley. Again like i have said with all our past qbs since Kelly I would like him to prove me wrong so i Know we have a Qb. But like some on this board I would rather have cutler than edwards. At least cutler can throw TDS.

NOw for the rest of the list there is no way i would get rid of Lynch the guy is a truck give him holes and youl see not only that hes a bruiser which is a great combo for Jackson a finesse runner. would never break up that tandem.

Poz is good maybe not the best fit at ML but it was his first full year at ML hes an OLB by nature.

Whitner isnt as bad as everyone makes him out to be either.

so out of the 8 players i have it like this

    3-Definate keepers

3- have potential trade value we can cashin on now

1- is detrimental to our team and needs to be traded NOW!

1- is nothing but an average Qb who cannot stay healty and has alot to prove this year or hes out the door with DJ.

    AMEN

This is clearly the best post on this topic. Everybody isnt saying we should get rid of everybody, however there are issues with all of them and play can be improved for some of these guys.

  2. Can we agree that we should give TE a full season with TO and Evans?

Yeah I mean c'mon, if it doesnt work, we will go out and find another competent QB to throw to Lee and TO somebody mediocre next year.

This is do or die for Edwards, He either claims his place in Buffalo this year or is kicked to the curb, with the weapons he has, mediocre play is not an option...do you have faith in TE's play, that he will come out ready to go for 16 games of very good football.

I have questions, and with the offense in place would liek somebody behind center with a few less question marks, since our offense will be sub par again next year.

  3. I think Owens is going to show us 2 things. First, hes going to show us Lee Evans is a terrific football player with a legit WR on the other side of him. And second....he will show us that Trent is a good QB with the right weapons around him.

But ive got to be honest here, the OL scares me to death!

Wasnt Peerless Price a terrific football player next to Eric Moulds, and was a bust everywhere else, including his second stint here. I like Lee alot but, most WR will have a career season lined up opposite TO.

Almost every QB in the NFL is good QB with a good supporting cast and the right system. I am not sold on TE, he still has some question marks, and only 16 games to answer them. I am most worried about his ability to find our new play TOy

The line doesnt scare me that much, aside from Peters they did ok with the pass, the run is significantly more of an issue with them. It does need to be adressed because we will most likely see Peters leave

We've already done more than we have other offseasons

what a mediocre or worse cb, ol, and back up qb. seems like the same old Bills FA to me, a bunch of high motor, lack luster 2nd stringer who will somehow manage to start here.

all we did was bring in TO...thats the only thing we have done in FA since Drew Bledsoe

  4. according to Carucci, we might not even gegt a first rounder, and the bills are still thinking about it. he claims that Peters is our headache, and Philly is the advil.

Take it for what its worth, I am not a hgugeg carucci fan, but he is pretty reliable.

Anything less than a first would be a waste, you might as well give him the money at that point.

  5. Man, is that the right attitude or what? Hopefully he backs those words up with an A+ effort next season...if he's back from his injury and game to go, we could be one of the most dangerous red zone teams in the NFL.

haha...most dangerous redzone offense in the NFL....haha.

we still have a questionable qb and a questionable coaching staff that may not even know how to utilize there strengths.

    haha

  6. You look at a team and see who you can win without. Roscoe Parrish might be at the top of this list, we can have somebody else return punts. Bobby April is what is really important for our special teams, its not Roscoe. We are strong yearly at special teams, even before Roscoe....BA will get somebody else to do the same job He is not a good reciever, he has zero production, is too small and just speedy. He is a fan favorite and that is about it.

Being Fast doesnt mean you are a good reciever...Roscoe Parrish = Dante Hall....EXACTLY

  7. Peters and OBD are not going to meet in the middle, as per Vick Carucci, things are not going well what so ever, Peters will not budge untill he is being paid like a Top 5 LT. Rumor has is he hasnt cashed his game checks from last year.

IMHO Peters should have gotten the new contract last year, he seemed deserving of somthing, but had we done that and he still gave us the season he did this past year we would have thrown him in the over paid category with Kelsey and Schobel.

The guy hasnt played like a top 5 LT, he shouldnt get the money. The best I can think of is for the Bills to hold firm with their garunteed, and offer Peters what he wants in incentives only. Problem is he wants it all in garauntees.

  8. No I didn't......but I have noticed many posters claim they have.....so I thought I'd go through the games & see for myself.

I imagine most QBs will perform better in good conditions rather than bad(obviously)......the question then becomes.....does TE perform at a more reduced level in cold weather compared to other QBs?

It looks like you(and others) focus on wins rather than QB performance......I'm less inclined to do that as there are many, many factors that come into determining win/loss.....not just QB ability.

That being said.....here are the cold(and/or windy) games TE has played.

As far as I can tell.....

There have been 4 games in his career with horrendous conditions or extreme cold.

2007 CLE(L): 30 degrees with 32+mph winds. Both QBs on the day fared pretty much the same.....played very poorly.

2007 NYG(L): 52 deg. with 23+mph winds.....against the SB winning team. Edwards outperformed Manning.

2008 DEN(W): 17 deg. TE had good day & outperformed Cutler.

    2008 NE(L): 39 deg. 30-40mph winds. Edwards outperformed Cassel.

In terms of cold......what is the benchmark for a cold day?

For the sake of argument I am selecting 50degrees and under.....not including SF as he did not finish that game.....or the 4 games mentioned above.

2007 WASH(W): 40 deg. TE had good day & outperformed Campbell.

    2007 MIA(W): 30 deg. Big day for TE(4TDs).....outperformed Lemon.

2007 PHI(L): 42 deg. Bad day for TE.....outperformed by McNabb

2008 NYJ(L): 49 deg. Decent day for TE(79QBR)....at least on par with Favre on the day.

2008 CLE(L): 30 deg. Very bad day for TE.

    2008 KC(W): 50 deg. Very good day for TE(4TDs)

In looking at his results, I can't see the argument about the weather.

In the 4 horrendous condition days, he played as well or better than his opponent QBs......as he did in most of his 'cold' games. His win/loss in the cold is basically 50/50.....as were his performances.

Maybe someone can enlighten me as to where he is worse in the cold compared to most QBs because I certainly can't see it.

50 degrees isnt cold, 40 isnt even that cold in terms of this city. Who did he out perform on those days...

    - Cleto Lemon...gagrbage

-Jason Campbell...way over rated and one of the largest problems in Washington...and barely outperformed...similar performances

-Cassel...the jury is still out he could end up being a bust in KC...

-Favre...almost 40/ last year of his career/on the downswing of the season

-2008 v. Denver- OUTPERFORMED CUTLER- haha- Cutler threw 359 yrds to TE 193..what a joke

-2007 vs leveland,(that was that windy, snowy game i think)not sure on specifics, but matching play against Derek Anderson and playing the Brown Defense is nothing to brag about

-An awful KC on a 50 degree day with a 3rd string QB...awesome...he did nothing good, he just did what was EXPECTED

-Outperformed Eli, with 3ints and 2 fumbles, not likely...5 turnovers and an L...good day TE

I am not saying TE is a bad QB(jury is still out), but common most of your facts are way way off. None of this is true at all, I think you made it up. There is still serious cause for concern in bad weather, he has proven nothing, he has consistently played poor, and thanks to my fact checking, been outplayed.

Is Cutler better than Edwards, I dont know. But chances are he is better in bad weather, in an offense with about as many threats as we have.

Not surprised but Denver though, new coach new guys, it happens, he is still unproven.

  9. Evans and Owens can beat their CBs by 5 steps... the thing is... Edwards need to get the ball to them. I really hope he does.

This makes me nervous. I got excited about the TO signing then started to think of actuality instead of potential. It is very possible we have an OC that doesnt know how to use him, and a QB that couldnt get him the ball even if the OC does his job.

This kind of puts a giant rain cloud on the entire signing. No matter who we get its very possible that in Bills fashion they let us down.

    Nervous

  10. If that's so I guess all those wondering what TO's like off the field and whether he's a big partier or not will get their answers (and then some).

Dat-dat-datta-datta-dat-dat-datta... come on into the big tent ladies and gentlemen, the circus is about to begin!

First off most of this will be during the offseason, so unless there are OTA's or something alot of it might be filmed in S. Florida...where he lives. Second he is TO I am sure he goes out a good amount. I am sure it will take him about a week to sleep with every decent looking woman in erie county

  11. OK first of all...JP was an overall bust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In any other system with any other personel, JP is not a fit, but this could work for him...where TE could flounder, or visa versa TE would flourish in a Tenn type offense and JP would be a garbage man

I am worried about Trent this year, he will have one of the best(if not the best) WR pair in the NFL. The jury is still out on him, with the weapons he has he cannot regularly look at his checkdowns. He has to put the ball in the Endzone 20+ times in the air. He has to be better than servicable at this point. It is just scary because offensively this season is soley on TE shoulders and our success on that side of the ball is completely hingent on him.

JP on the other hand was not capable of managing an entire game, or reading defenses, but with the cast we have now, his style of drop back and chuck it might work better than TE. JP could open up the field and attempt to utilize these weapons. Not to mention he was very accurate with the long ball, it was everything else that sucked. That was a problem then, but could be an asset now.

I dont know much about Fitzpatrick, is he capable of operating WHEN TE goes down.

    Just a thought

  12. Only on the Bills could someones worst attributes be a positive. My one worry is that he kills Trents already shakey confidence.

    Love the signing though.

Trent has very little room for error this year. He has the best reciever tandem in the NFL. Anything less then a very good year for him is a failure, a mediocre passing game is a failure...an above average passing attack is a failure. He is playing for his job this year.

My guess this year is TO for the first time in his career actually hits a qb...better get him the ball in the endzone Trent

Better not be another dink and dunk year...

  13. First off I would like to state that this is never going to happen, and the Bills will never submit an offer, TO will never end up in Buffalo regardless of whether or not it is a good decision.

Second- It doesnt matter if we lined Jerry Rice out wide, Our staff could never figure out how to utilize him, and our really intelligent qb would hit his check down regardless of what reciever tanem we put together.

Third- Why not? What team are we going to destroy. Are we delusional enough to think that we are in the running for the next super bowl, that our 2nd teir players are all-star caliber. Let TO come in and blow the whole place up, because when Dick loses his job thats what is going to happen anyways. Whats the worst that could happen anyways, we suck again? too late

  14. Relax. We are talking about a backup QB for heaven's sake! And, yes, I think he is an improvement over JP. I doubt JP could lead ANY team to the Super Bowl as Grossman did in 2006.

a backup qb to a guy who goes down for 4 plus games a year.

an upgrade from jp...debatable...but more of the same

and lead to a superbowl, one i dont think rex grossman was the reason they atleast made it to the superbowl, but he did lose that game, he was pretty awful, 3 turnovers... hes a bum

  15. you know who was the greatest guy off the field....jp losman we should resign him based soley on moral gumption.

you know who wasnt great off the field...jim kelly, thurman thomas, bruce smith...selective memories i guess

c'mon the kid did nothing other than have an unregistered gun. he isnt even close to a thug based on street or even NFL standards...posts like this make me mad, lets get off our high horses and only take oppinions from our 100% law abiding citizens. by the standards set on this board I think alot of us are thugs

  16. Has any Buffalo professional athlete come anywhere close to this standard in an entire career, much less two years:

    - Reportedly numerous incidents of being thrown out of downtown bars for carrying his own bottle into the bar.

    - Ran over someone's mailbox, but wasn't charged because the owner didn't press charges.

    - Hit a pedestrian injuring her and drove away.

    - Smoked pot with friends in a car parked on a public street, with a loaded unregistered gun somewhere inside the car.

The Buffalo media is "killing" Lynch because he's earned that right. It's become tragically obvious that he makes stupid decisions and doesn't learn from his mistakes.

First there was no pot smoking involved, only claim of pot smell, and "blunts" no smoke and nobody was reported as high

2nd has any Buffalo professional athlete

-Told his fans to F*ck off after telling him nice game

    -Thrown beer on their fans

-SH*t talked Buffalo before they got here

-Made 12 year olds cry asking for autographs

-Attempted to chase and beat up their own fans

OH YEAH JIM KELLY...hes a role model/nice guy/ high character

he is one of the biggest dicks to ever play here in Buffalo(maybe anywhere for that matter) but he comes on tv every once and a while and asks for money for Hunters Hope and talks about his love for Buffalo and the team

Loved him as a QB but as a person way worse than Lynch

  17. I have read multiple articles. Police never accused Lynch of smoking any pot, said nothing about him even being high, just some blunts.

The gun not on the person.

C'mon this is not that big of a deal. The guy was stopped for being black in a rich neighborhood, had his car searched and found a guna nd some weed, nobody reported to be using and the gun was on nobodies person.

Should the gun be registered...ABSOLUTELY... was he endangering anybody...ABSOLUTELY NOT
