Is there any scenario for the NFL where a game is simply canceled and not played? If so what is the scenario?

They got announced like that every game, right before the team announcements.
Ah, ok. That makes sense. I simply didn't recall that. I mean, snow in Sept. in Buffalo is just too crazy to believe. Now October, that's a different story.

Wow, the Buffalo Jills, remember them? So they get introduced as "your 1989 Buffalo Jills" but there is clearly snow on the ground? Did the team just wait until mid to late in the season to introduce them or did it actually snow in Sept? 😆

More proof that the gods are not Bills fans.....uggg.....and more questioning whether my wife's right when she says "why do you do this to yourself?".....
It shouldn't have come down to a hail mary, or even a last minute Bills drive to win. The team once again had a 3rd quarter collapse fueled by penalties and both the DL and OL getting man-handled.

Steve Tasker
I wondered if anyone was going to mention him. Maybe special teams don't count for this? He may go to the HOF as essentially a backup receiver and of course a top 5 special teamer.

Too painful still. Otis F....ing Anderson. Are you kidding me.
My exact thoughts.....If the kick goes in then Thurman Thomas is the SB 25 MVP....and I'd argue he still should have been....

I always get a kick out of these "where were you in ....." questions. I had just turned 33, had just started potty training our first kid and was still thrilled that the Bills were the Best of the AFC....it also represented the last year I saw the Bills play in person for nearly 20 years - we had our 2nd kid and the Mrs. kind of put the kibosh on driving to Buffalo for a long weekend every year once we had kids. Then life happened and the Bills sucked so it wasn't really worth the drive.

Agree. I played some center. There, is timing, feel ( no jokes) and trust on assignments and line calls. In the shotgun it makes a bigger difference in accuracy and speed.
"Feel" taint no joke brother....

Not even close Marv Levy, Lou Saban, Chuck Knox
Hard to argue with this. So who between Levy and Saban got the most out of their talent? I feel like Levy's teams were really loaded while Saban got a ton out of better than average talent, but not really great overall.

1965 - my dad and one of my uncles took me to a game at the Rock Pile. I remember is my dad being concerned about whether the car would be where we parked it (which was someone's house) after the game. That was it. I mean, really, if you're born and raised in Buffalo (or other small market towns) what are the chances you're not a Bills fan? Assuming you like pro football.

Anyone else do this, you see someone in a store, they have something Bills on, and as you pass you just say "Go Bills" they usually reply, and you just keep walking? My wife thinks it's strange.
Do any other team fans do something similar?
Absolutely - when you don't live in WNY it sort of is a bond. I ran into a guy at the outerbanks of NC he was decked out in Bills stuff and so was I, we started talking and turned out we went to HS at the same time he in N. Tonawanda and me in Williamsville so that was cool. Wife thinks is strange but she's from Philly.

Imagine how the other team's fans feel when they see them listed with the Bills
No kidding....sad. I mean to be lumped in with the Lions in particular is just awful.....the last NFC championship game they played in was 1991 - that would have been some SB - Bills against the Lions - the battle for Lake Erie....their last championship was 1957!!!

For anyone wondering, the other 5 teams are the Dolphins, Browns, Bengals, Lions, and Redskins.
Boy, that's pretty ugly company to be in....

The only reason we held them to a relatively low point total was our attempt at ball control offense (we had one long drive), and the fact Andy Reid decided to run the ball all night. We never really stopped them, and I think they could have thrown the ball all over the yard if they wanted.
I have to agree with you. They had a 9 minute drive I believe where they passed once or twice but pretty much owned the line of scrimmage. It seemed like they were toying with the Bills defense. I can only imagine that if it was a shoot out the Bills would have been outshot....nothing like the Jets to make all things right again.

I'm worried because it's two weeks in a row where you could tell from the first time, he was mentally just off. The result carried through the entire game. Something is missing
Me too but I think he looked almost lost or confused the last two games. Couldn't be a better week to get the Jets....hopefully that will bring the confidence back.
-
They're just not ready to play with the elite teams. Have to shore up that run defense. They need to stomp on the Jets to get their confidence back.

First, let me state, I am not paniced by the Titans game. I know the Bills are better than they showed last night. However, at the same time, it is kind of silly to be comparing them to the 1991 Bills. Everybody wants to draw these comparisons to the "glory days' of the 1990's. I get it, those were great times. But, if you really feel the need to compare the two eras (which I don't see), this current squad would be closer in their development, to the 1988 or 1989 Bills teams. If you recall, the 1988 Bills started out 4-0, and got slaughtered by the Bears on the road, in week 5. They went on to win 8 of their last 11 games that year, for a record of 12-4. They lost to the Bengals in the AFC Championship game. I could live with a result like that...
That's a really good insight and I'm one of the people who talks about the "glory" years. For me I consider those to be 88 thru the SB runs. The 88 and 89 teams had most of the pieces of the SB teams but just hadn't quite jelled yet. But boy, that 88 season, after the dark times of the mid 80's was really fantastic.

The test comes in the next two weeks - can they mentally adjust to the loss and give KC a good fight? Monday will be really interesting. Not having the crowd does not help said Capt. Obvious.

A win is a win and darn glad they won with a -2 turnover ratio - that doesn't happen often I don't think. What I'd like to see the team work on is their coverage on Hail Mary type passes.....geesh....almost happened again......
