They have no downfield passing game. We played them in a blizzard. Coaches played like cowards and hopefully are aware now. Josh is going god mode

I think several teams have proved you don't need a downfield passing game to beat the Bills.  You only need to pound it on the ground and eventually (sooner it seems rather than later) the defense will give up a big run.   And the weather could be nasty in NE as well - won't know that for a few more days.  Anyway, I don't see this as a win - like it or not, the Patriots, who I personally thought would suck for at least a couple years, are back.

They will still win the division if joshs ankle is fine i am going to put some doubloons on it tomorrow. We have been really unlucky and mismanaged in crunch time. Pats will lose to us and colts. Bills win out and get division

Help me understand how the Bills will beat the Patriots?  Very interested to hear that.

So....we're gonna beat TB and then lose again to NE.

    Great.

Who has the remote? Let's fast forward.

Seriously, though, there's gotta be a way out right?

Is this just the mid-season struggle? Are they gonna go on a win streak now and carry positive momentum into the playoffs?

In a fairytale world, yes, they'd win out, and dominate the playoffs....but this is the Bills, where fairytales go to die.  I still believe that this disappointing season will, in the long run, be good for the team as weaknesses are clear and can be addressed.  Back in July and August when many respected experts had the team as a true SB contender, no one was flagging the weak offensive line, the inability to run the ball, the inability to stop the run, etc.  I was thinking today about the three other times in Bills history that the team was pretty dominant (or at least made the playoffs:  Mid 60's - the OL and DL dominated in the AFL and allowed the other talented players to be successful; early 70's - The Electric Company allowed OJ to run wild and the Bills were very competitive and finally the SB years - both the OL and the DL dominated the AFC and it allowed the team to run a very up tempo offense that was just so much fun to watch (a bit like last year).  What made those OL's in particular great was that the players were highly skilled AND played together as a unit for multiple games/seasons at a time.  I'm not sure that the same 4 OL have lined up in the same positions for more than a game or two this season.

  4. As someone else said already - the defense has done fine against the really poor teams (including JAX) but, and this is a big but - against winning teams not so much.   I'm to the point now that even if the team limps into the playoffs I don't think they can get past the first round so not that excited.  Can't imagine they'll beat NE twice or Tampa Bay.  And they should win the other three but suspect they'll have a brain fart in one of those games.

Next year though I bet they come into the season with a chip on their shoulder, stay focused, don't read their press and  get down to business.   This team reminds me so much of the '89 Bills.  And we all know what happened in '90.....

That 6 points against the 28th ranked Jags defense is still causing me to think that something is way, way off with the Buffalo offense.

To me, it's ludicrous that a professional NFL OC refuses to switch up his offense that is no longer working to something that will work. And, when he does find something that actually works he stops using it.

I simply don't trust Brian Daboll. Either the man is completely inept to construct an offense other than the mid to deep passing scheme he has helped develop in Buffalo...OR...those 11 seasons with the Patriots as an assistant coach...

Let's not forget that the guy spent a year with Nick Saban as the Alabama OC and I gotta wonder who gave him a recommendation for that job...coming from NE as TE's coach. Belichick and Saban have been close since their Cleveland Browns days. Just saying...

Could it be that the million different versions of the offensive line mostly suck?  Hard to have any kind of offense when the OL is so weak.

The game was already lost. Why risk further injury when you're down so much late in the 4th? Dust yourself off and prepare for the Saints. 10-7 will be good enough to get into the playoffs. In order for that to happen they only need to go 4-3 the remaining games. That's entirely possible. Falcons, Jets, Saints, and Panthers should all be wins. If they can eek out a win against 1 of the 2 Pats matchups then they'll be in prime position. The season is not over. Don't let the negativity of this board get to u.

Not certain they can go 4-3 the rest of the way as I would expect the team to lose both NE games, the Tampa game and Thursday nights game.  I mean the pattern to beat the Bills is now out there - lots of defensive pressure, don't worry about any running game, and against the Bills defense, run , run , run.  But should the team make the playoffs it will be a short ride I would expect, given that they haven't beaten a team with a winning record yet (I don't count KC because at the time they didn't have a winning record).   I do like your optimism though, we need more of that, but if you've watched this team as long as I have its hard not to expect the other shoe to drop....

  7. This whole season has felt a lot like 1989 to me - Bills come into the season after losing the AFC Championship game (in a season when no one had the Bills doing anything), the team is stocked to the gills on offense (and had a terrific OL which the current teams lacks as many have noted) and then they just sort of went through the motions to a 9-7 season and lost in the divisional round to Cleveland.  Maybe '21 is that season for this team, they went further than expected last year, read their press, and figured beating good teams would just magically happen.  And so we can hope that next year is the year that the team licks their wounds, gets serious and goes on a nice run like the '90 Bills team did - they just kept their mouths shut and played terrific football.  Here's hoping.....

1 game? We have the easiest schedule in the league and are 5-3. We've played one good team ...and lost.

This is exactly the point.  Its pretty evident that to stop the all powerful offense a team needs only to pressure the OL.  They fold easier than a cheap suit.  And if JA doesn't have protection he can't do much with the elite receiving core.  If you've been a Bills fan for more than a few years you've come to expect this kind of thing.  I have no doubt they'll be in the playoffs but it will be a short ride and lets face it, anything less than the AFC Championship game will be a let down and I don't see that happening.  The KC win may have been their peak....hope not, but they've been pretty mediocre  since then.

I may be in the minority here, and I hate to admit it because he's a Bills guy, but I just can't listen to Murphy as the play-by-play man. His calls of big plays are so blah. There were a couple of TD calls in last week's game where I wasn't even sure he cared much that it was a TD.

It feels like blasphemy to say it but I really think Murph needs to be replaced.

No, its not blasphemy.  I'd say he seems to be more "confused" this year in terms of what's going on, on the field.  Reminds a little bit of Curt Gowdy at the very very end of his days of calling football.

Is there a way to sync the radio and tv?  A method or a trick I can use?

Assuming you have a DVR in your cable box yes.  What I do is run the pregame live and stop it as the kicker lines up.  Then when Murphy says "so and so is about to kick off I start the TV again and its usually within +/- a couple of seconds.  You can refine it from there.  I watched the KC game without the benefit of synching (wasn't at home) and so the radio was behind by one play.  Not too bad.  Again, better than Collingsworth.

I took 4 years of Spanish 1.  I should be fine

I'm jealous - you only had to take 4 years of Spanish 1?  Anyway, I tend to listen to Murphy and Eric Wood and turn the sound off on the TV.  There's generally a slight delay but I can usually get the TV and radio synched up....way better than CC....

Unfortunately I think the red zone issues will result in three FG's for the Bills.  While the defense has been fantastic, they've faced three back up QB's.  The team hasn't beaten a good team yet - their opponents so far are 5 - 11.   I Think KC wants to prove that they're back, particularly on prime time.

Man, does that crow taste good.....

Bills haven't beaten a decent QB yet. If Milano, Poyer, and Johnson are not 100% I can't see keeping them from scoring less than 4 TDs.

Best chance Bills have is a strong running game.

McD has not been able to figure out Reid. KC has beaten us with a run oriented attack and then with the pass in two seperate games last year.

If they had beaten the Steelers I would have taken the Bills in a tight game.

Unfortunately I think the o-line is still a work in progress and the defense is a product of the competition.

Truly hope I am wrong. Didn't think Bills would win in Dallas on Thanksgiving and they did. Bills can beat KC but I think it will be in Jan in Buffalo

    KC 31 Buffalo 17

if the Bills lose Sunday I don't think the road to the SB goes through WNY.....

Some people have said that they really want the two home playoff wins and then a Super Bowl win, and a Super Bowl win wouldn't be the same without that. I'm not one of those people, but I was having a discussion with someone about it offline today.

Which people?  A SB win is a SB win is a SB and in fact, winning as a Wild Card would be a great accomplishment....IMHO
