    Pittsburgh has a national draw.

The Carolinas default to Pittsburgh, as well as most of the Midwest.

That alone gets them on TV for games against New England.

Has the map come out yet?  Will be in the Outer Banks of NC and wondering if the Bills will be shown.  I didn't realize the Carolinas default to Pittsburgh - would have thought Baltimore as an AFC team.

  2. I was going to start this thread if it didn't exist....my gosh, Milano was all over the field today.  And the tackles he made in the open field were game savers IMO....He had 11 solo and 2 assisted tackles....just magnificent.

Oh I agree, as of now the 1990 Bills team is still the best Bills team I've seen in my lifetime....the AFL Championship teams were way before my time.  I wasn't trying to say I think this current Bills team is better than the Super Bowl teams yet.

I don't think the nostalgia of the '90's SB teams will go away until the current iteration does something - win a SB, or appear in a couple of SB's......

  4. With all due respect to the OP, until any other Bills team gets to and wins the Super Bowl, the 90's teams will still be my benchmark.  Those teams dominated the AFC and except for one game a year, albeit the big game, they were absolutely the best team on the field for every game.   There was no doubt about whether they were going to win or not and when the team did lose, people were genuinely surprised.

The current iteration is a lot of fun to watch.  They've won the division which is great but really, nothing of note - no AFC Championship and no SB appearances.   If this current team wins a SB, then they will supplant all previous Bills teams in the hearts of the fans IMO.

Could it have anything to do with the lack of playing time in the preseason? Not as much conditioning resulting in injuries?

I wonder about that too.  But on the other side of the coin, the team is already at game three of the season so you'd think maybe its not related to preseason.....

All I know is that at this time 6 days from now, this board will either be in "17-0 we going all the way" mode or "9-8 we suck arse” mode. There is no middle ground.

I agree that there is no middle ground - this year!  Either the team wins it all or we're going to be very disappointed.  There  is no team on paper better than the Bills.  I think it comes down to whether the players want to seize the moment.  I can't help but think of that old Lou Saban clip - "if we die, we die together, you can get it done, you can get it done, what's more ya gotta get it done...."  I'm running out of years, Bills - get it done this year!

No. I was born a fan. It was embedded into my blood. Before I even realized who I was, I was in my cradle wearing Bills outfits. When I was old enough to get carted to games, I sat on a beer cooler in the Rockpile  handing out beers and sandwiches to my dad, grandpa and uncles.

I went to the first game at Rich Stadium, I saw OJ running from defenders, not the law. I saw the best and worst of Bills football for 50+ years. And I'll never change my allegiance.

Right there with ya TBJ!  First game in 1965 when I was five, I mean when you grow up in Buffalo its hard not to follow the team, win lose or draw.  The SB years were great.  The current team has that same feel....fingers crossed.

  8. I agree with the OP's statement - the team had better win the division and there's no reason, in March, on paper, why they shouldn't.  Having said that, and not to be a Debbie Downer, but after watching the Bills for 55 years, if there's a way for them to lose at the worst time(s) they will....but by God, they're due, that's for sure....

Meh, it was an incredible bout and the Bills lost on a coin toss.... I'm about 100% confident had it been tails, we'd be excited for next week.  The OT rule is awful, and it cut short a special night.... I hope they consider changing it.

I feel like we're just entering our window here.... while this one is disappointing, this is a game that the organization will grow from.  Maybe they won't lose to poor teams in the regular season and hurt themselves on the playoffs by being on the road... that is a big takeaway...

The Chiefs have been an excellent organization for 10+ years now... this game shows we're almost there, and we will have our run and opportunites.

I'd rather lose like that 99/100 times that get blown out, or 20 seasons with draft threads in early December.

Fix what needs fixed, get ready to kick ass next season....

Josh is special.  He'll get a ring, no doubt.

I agree that the team has a unique window for the next couple of years.  I think it remains to be seen what this lose does to the key players and coaches that will be around.  It's a soul crushing lose and those players and coaches around next year can learn from it and come ready to kick butt to make certain the road to the SB goes through Buffalo or they can let this bring the organization down like the Music City Miracle did (anyone recall 17 years of futility?).  I hope its the former but we won't know until next September.

At the end of the day, I think these losses are way tougher on our die hard fan base. Players are disappointed, not devastated. Players get their game checks, they give their all, but the truth is that they move on. They may play for another team. They may retire. They may get hurt and end their careers. But their love of the team and the city doesn't last a lifetime (except Jimbo maybe) Owners change. Teams move cities. There's no lasting commitment outside the fans.

Fans like us have endured decades of traumatic losses. It's not a few games a player may experience. It's a lifetime. I'm celebrating 50 years in as a Bills fan and I've seen it all. Well, almost all. And losses like last night sting a little longer and burn a little deeper with each passing year. We want that 1 Super Bowl victory so bad and we came so close, so many times, but one Billsy thing after another steps on to the path of destiny and wipes us off the road.

I honestly thought with 13 seconds left that this was the year we could finally exorcise the demons. My family was jumping around like it was Christmas and we were kids. The awesome Josh Allen brought us down the field again and threw a 4th down laser for the WIN!!! But no so fast.

We have the #1 Defense and although they were tired. I believed Butker was having a rough night and wouldn't hit anything over 50. Of all the nightmare scenarios we've endured over the years, I never expected this one.  My heart was in my throat and my stomach was turning as that ball was kicked.

No squib. No time off the clock! Damn it. Just hold them for two plays. Don't let anyone run loose... And what happens..... So f'kin Billsy.

Now another long off-season and a glimmer of hope for the future because we have a legit Top #3 QB if not the best in the league.  So I go into the next 7-8 months, scrolling, reading, hoping that next year is finally the golden one and I really wanted to experience that with my dad.

He took me to almost every home game as a kid (and a few road games) He instilled my life-long love of the Bills. There were times he, my grandpa and my uncle would crowd around the radio to listen to Van Miller call the game. I sat with them back at the Rockpile for my first game. Now they are all long gone, except my dad.

This year was the first season in over 25 years that we were able to watch the games together.  My family moved to the Tampa area this year to help care for him now that his Alzheimers is at a stage where he can't care for himself.  The look on his face was priceless when Josh threw that ball to Davis.  Even though 20 minutes later he forgot what happened, it was still a joy to be with him watching the game.  Hugging him and having that almost glorious moment was so worth it.  I just wish for once we could go the distance.  Maybe next year.

This is a great review of what its been like to be a Bills fan for 50+ years....I like that term "Billsy" - fits perfectly.  I could almost hear my dad up in heaven yelling "the only thing the prevent defense prevents is winning...."

  11. If you've been a fan long enough you've kind of come to expect this kind of crap.  Cursed or not, we as fans have  had the Harmon drop, the "wide right", the "MMM" and now the "greatest comeback that never was."  IMO, this season has had the feel of 1989 all over it.  The team comes from no where in 2019 to win the division and play in the AFCC which they lose (see 1988).  Then they come into this season as real contenders with the national press on them and they promptly lose their first game in a rather flat display of football.  While the '89 team featured the "Bickering Bills" a lot of that bickering stemmed from believing they were better than they were (IMO).  They win their division and lose in the divisional playoffs on Harmon's wide open drop.  Fast forward to this season - they just never got in a rhythm until it was too late.  They beat up on some very bad teams, lost to the worst team and cost themselves the home field advantage.

I'm interested to see if, like the 1990 Bills, the team comes back next year all business.  After a soul crushing loss like last night each person who's on the team next year has a decision to make on how they want to show up.  I really hope and believe that the team will come out for blood and do all they can to have the road to the SB go through Buffalo.

Ugh, i wish the Chiefs did not look so efficient last night.  I can talk myself into picking the Bills, but just an off the cuff, gut instinct i think we blew our "best game ever" wad last Saturday night.

    Chiefs 34

    Bills  27

I have to agree - I was feeling great about the Bills chances until I watched how KC played last night.  KC is not the same KC that the Bills handled early in the season - their defense is much improved and their offense has cut down on the silly mistakes.  I have to think it will take another near perfect game to beat them on their turf.

7 for 7 is simply incredible - as I told my 27 year old son - he may never see that perfect a game by the Bills (or any team) again.  I think the 1st half of last nights game and the 2nd half of the comeback game were the two best halves the Bills have ever played on all sides of the ball.

Further, I'd like to take some credit here as I finally found the right hat/shirt/chair/sitting position to bring about the perfect game.  This included rhythmically tapping the middle finger on my right hand against my right thigh, much like a mental patient might do.  Seems to have worked.....
