  1. WEO, Actually, that is one of their underlying arguments. But on appeal its really about abuse of discretion in hearing the NFL's argument about jurisdiction. """Tom Brady and the other plaintiffs will go into the appeal with a big advantage: the Eight Circuit will review Judge Nelson's order under the deferential "abuse of discretion" standard. Under this standard, the Eight Circuit will first evaluate whether Judge Nelson correctly enunciated the proper standard for a preliminary injunction""" Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/michael_mccann/04/25/nfl.lockout/index.html#ixzz1KddCWVZd
  2. So frivolous no one with a legal degree is saying that. That word has a very distinct legal implication and by your use of it I take it you understand it as simply a buzzword for litigation you dont like. OH and preventing non-union employees from working using collusion is not permitted under US law. Thank Teddy R for that. Litigation as a negotiation tactic is as American as apple pie. Been happening for centuries. Now the owners are forced to make the argument that they Courts should reinstate the union.
  3. The owners are not favorites there, i cant believe you are even saying such a thing. The Court is looking at her ruling for an abuse of discretion, a relatively high standard. I suggest you read up on her decision, particularly the article on SI written by a sports law professor. The owners have the cards stacked against them. Vrabel's statement has no bearing whatsoever.
  4. Hardly frivolous since a federal judge ruled they have a likelihood of success by granting the injunction. You dont like unions and you similarly dislike the PA. But dont let it cloud your analysis so much.
  5. He's saying stats DONT tell the whole picture. ie- Locker has the same not so great stats that a HOFer did. The point is not about stats, its that the tape tells the tale. Former NFL Greg Cosell- a very respected personnel man, says the same thing. Its NOT about production at all, its about projecting attributes.
  6. You will be disappointed if you are expecting 2 starts from every draft. You cant call a draft a bust after one year. No respectable NFL personnel person would say such a thing. Spiller and Troup are not busts as of yet. Brandon Graham, taken two pick after spiller had 13 tackles..... according to you he's a bust. Morgan Derrick taken a few picks later only played in 4 games. Bust I dunno i guess its pretty easy to find rookies who contributed little in their first friggin year. Troup our second pick was more productive than those first rounders above.
  7. Tell me how drafting a OLB will turn the last ranked Run D around? The general thought is that we take Miller, a pass rusher. How will he improve the run defense? Oh and if you can improve the offense and yanno keep the D off the field thye might not give up so many 2nd half rushing yards when theyre tired (look it up 2nd half rushing yards). I know the D does need to get better but the offense can help them out.
  8. After one year on a bad team, you are writing off the first draft....geez. Talk about wanting instant results.
  9. yea just like all the message board scouts who break down these guys by watching "film"" or "tape" on youtube.
  10. I tend to remember people raving about eric wood. And Levitre was a starter last year. Dont cross the moats? Troup was a rookie DT. They rarely contribute immediately. He will be a gamer. Drafting isnt an immediate result business.
  11. OH yea we also had an aoffense that couldnt sustain drives meaning the D was on the field getting worn down all game. Most of the rushing yards given up came in the second half which should be no surprise. The defense needs more talent but you will be surprised how much better they will be when the offense can keep them off the field.
  12. No and the picks of Eric Wood and LEvitre the year before dont count either. We must draft lineman until the message board is satisfied. Only then can other positions be considered.
  13. Right, Brees did have an increased threat of running, but those touches also depressed his stats a little whereas Fitz had no running game at all. My point is they are nowhere near the same career path. Fitz is going into his 7th year in the league and 4th as a regular QB. He isnt going to turn into a franchise QB somehow. I am glad he is taking charge and having offseason workouts with the O but lets not kid ourselves and think this isnt something other guys are doing. Its what you are supposed to do!
  14. THats misleading. If you dont include the 1 game he played in 2001, just like you fail to include Fitz's 2005 Rams stats, and we just take each players first three seasons of play... it looks far different Brees - 38 games 61.3 comp %, 55 TDs 38 Ints Fitz- 33 games 57.7 comp %, 40 TDs 36 Ints. They are not the same, this is even with years of extra experience under Fitz's belt before the 33 games cited above. Brees has had one season ever where he failed to reach 60% completion, something Fitz hasnt done yet. Fitz is decent, but he is not accurate enough to take this team to the next level.
  15. Like the Colts, who were awful when they took peyton, suffered for a few years before becoming one of the powerhouses of the NFL.
  16. The players are set up to win because the NFL is operating as a monopoly. I dont see how Mike Florio thinks he stumbled onto something here. He's an idiot and should have known this from the beginning. Of course decertification was a tactic, but it was their legal right to do so. He thinks the NFL will file a brief based on Vrabel's comment. Moron its too late to submit and on top of that, if what he says was correct, which its not, the NFL would have included that in their opposing papers.
  17. Fitz was middling at best, he threw a lot of TD's and INTs. otherwise his numbers were pretty poor. You dont draft for need. The best franchises arent built that way, not how Bill Polian built the Bills of the 90's or the Colts. Google it he's on record of how he drafts. Bellidick is as well. The best player may fit the Bills' needs bc there are so many holes. btw Fitz is only a band aid, his contract is up this year.
  18. As the other guy said, passer rating on third down is not the same as conversion rate, which means moving the chains. Again, the Bills still had the ball enough, at least compared to the best offenses. They simply cant score enough when they do meaning the weak defense gets exposed even more.
  19. THe flip side is the offense was terrible. 38% converting on 3rd downs. THe offense was on the field, just as much as the Colts or Pats offense. They ran 2 plays less per game than the super bowl champs. The offense avg 5.1 yards per play. Pathetic. The D was on the field a lot bc they sucked, but also the offense couldnt stay on the field. This is why there is discussion of taking a QB.
  20. true but that has to do twit the offense as well. THe bills O only converted 38% of third downs. THey averaged a measly 5.1 yds a play while the best are near 6.0 yards a play. You cant really say they didnt have the ball either. The Bills O ran 2.5 less plays per game as compared to the packers, yet still sucked. The Bills O has one of the worst points per play ratios in the league. You see bc our O isnt anywhere near as good as you think, and cant stay on the field, our poor run defense gets killed. The O does not suck bc of lack of opportunity. its a lack of talent.
  21. True. It only makes sense if you really believe that guy is the answer. The fact that it seems as though the bills are considering it, makes one wonder whether they have faith in Fitz. They will get one of the guys they really want at #3. Personally, no one player stands out to me this year.
  22. So take the current throwbacks and change the helmet to white. I dont hate that idea but yawn. I was expecting more. I dont think those are the uni's anyway.
