I haven't seen the Week 1 Haiku topic started yet, so here goes:
Trent returns to form
CJ Spiller looks good, too
Miami will lose
-
Here's how I see things shaking out during Week 1:
Buffalo/Miami: In a hard fought battle where both teams play well, Buffalo escapes with a 24-23 win. An interception on Miami's final drive seals the victory.
New England/Cincy: A high scoring game with both offenses seemingly moving at will; however, the Bengals are able to win on a late TD Drive, mainly through the passing game. New England's young secondary showed that it has room to improve.
NY Jets/Baltimore: An ugly, defensive battle. The Jets lead 9-7 late in the 4th quarter, but a controversial pass interference call on Darrelle Revis sets the Ravens up for a chip shot field goal to win it.
So, after Week 1 concludes, the undefeated, 1-0 Buffalo Bills hold a one game lead over their three division rivals. Hey - this sounds plausible to me!

FOX has the GB game
No, Champaign Mike has it right. So CBS will only have the chance to broadcast Green Bay when they host the two AFC East teams this year (assuming one isn't an NBC or ESPN game). The other two AFC games are on the road. So, maybe we'll get the #1 announcing team for a change.
-
Oh sweet Jesus...Gus Johnson and Tasker for the Bills game. Thank God I'll be there and not have to listen to those two.
I wonder what CBS will do for the Green Bay game next week?. That's one of the few opportunities they'll have to broadcast one of the teams they've decided are going to be good this year. So maybe we'll catch a break and get some decent announcers.

A little off topic. I saw Maybin at Wal-Mart last night about 8:30PM, buying a throw rug a garbage cans and freeze pops. If i was not sure who he was and i just ran into him on the street, I would let him walk through, and if he told me to walk on teh other side i would . The man is jacked.
Wal-Mart? He held out last year and he's still shopping at Wal Mart???

I guess you didn't see this
http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/forum-1/announcement-10-copyright-violations/
It's funny that copying and pasting an article is a violation that is enforced (appropriately, I might add), but we can also post all sorts of links to live game feeds that I'm pretty sure are in violation of something somewhere - but those seem to be OK. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Wow - very impressive. See? People on this board can be nice every once in a while...oh, I almost forgot... +

I specifically went to TBD today to see if Lori did her pre-game analysis. It's really great to see it - thank you.
-
I love it that Trent Edwards isn't cutting his hair until they lose. I don't know if he meant pre-season, too, but here's another reason to root for Buffalo.
-
Hey, Schefter and the ESPN van rolled into Eastview Mall tonight. I thought they'd come in to Champps, but they didn't - probably opted for PF Chang's.
-
Last night I dreamt that the Bills opened up the season 2-0 and had the sports world starting to take notice. Reminiscent of the early "Trent for MVP" talk a few years ago, before the concussion.

Now I don't know about you guys, but that looks like a playoff roster. The wildcard is obviously Campbell, but for a 4th, it would certainly be worth a shot, in my opinion.
I know it seems far fetched, but both trades are feasible.
Flame away. I can dream, damnit; this is America!
I like the idea except for Campbell. To me, he is one of those guys who has all of the tools but just can't put it together on the field. Whenever I've seen him play, he just doesn't have that fire in his eyes, or whatever you want to call it. The same lack of fire that Rob Johnson had. As far as the "playoff roster" comment, call me an eternal optimist, but with even halfway decent coaching, we could have won two or three more games last year. So with a few breaks this year, I could see the Bills at least being a factor in the division until December.

I prefer a Jimmy Clausen hiaku:
Clausen- oh please no!
The guy quite frankly might blow
Bulaga o-line
(Editor's Note: For non-literary types:
Hiaku - a form of Japanese poetry
5 syllables first line
7 next line
and 5 for the third
three lines in total
the first two lines set up for the
resolution in 3rd line
Rhyme not necessary).
Now, back to deep thoughts.........
I like haiku better, too:
Clausen is cocky
Then again, so was Kelly
Based on that, draft him

I don't care if hes the friggin Marquis de Sade as long as he can play, which I think he can. Seriously, he was 17 years old when this pic was taken. Like all of the character related red flags, there is nothing there. That guy to the left really is disgusting though.
The guy in the middle looks like a Clausen, too. I can't believe I'm commenting on this picture...

Luck is the residue of design

I've googled this a few times, but the only subject that comes up is the "safety risk" associated with an extended overtime. What I want to find out is this: what happens if a team scores a safety in Overtime? Since the ball is kicked off to that team again, I would think the game is over.
-
Is this confirmed?
I think its clear that Buffalo is hoping that its Defense carries them this year.
That's OK with me - if I can dream for a minute - if there is any chance at success in 2010 it will most likely be with the low scoring, opportunistic defense approach. The low scoring part we have down pat, so we are halfway there...

The miseducation of america starts here.....
Oh my....Obviously not a fan of classic comedy...

I caught a bit of it too (I remember the end so I stopped before I got that far); RJ was definitely running for his life, it feels like times haven't changed since then! That first drop back to crushing sack became an all too familiar habit for Rob...
Hard to believe we had the number 1 D that year, won 10 games with Flutie, yet Wade went with RJ. We really got RJ'ed on that one. I wasn't super opposed to the move at the time, but looking back Dougie would have had a better shot of winning that one. You don't base a qb start on the final game of the season no matter how much he lights it up.
You really think it was Wade who decided to start RJ?
-
Yes, sorry. For some reason I didnt know that...its actually the first time I've heard the name.
Been working alot, only really seeing national news lately.
Thanks for filling me in.
You're not alone. I've only been mildly interested in Bills news since the season ended, so I didn't pay attention to the name of the guy we brought over from Pittsburgh. Until now, I thought this was a play on Chan Gailey's name - I thought he might have put on a lot of weight recently. I pictured in my mind the before & after pictures of Chuck Knox from the Rams/Bills days to the Seahawks days.
-
Nor is it played in Buffalo in January.
This must change.
January football was played in Buffalo last season, and Buffalo won! How often can you say that?
-
QBs like Brady who tend not to make unforced errors.
Except in playoff games at home when they are favored to win
-
I am getting the sinking suspicion we are about to be 'jerked'.
I'm getting the sneaky suspicion that someone who is eminently qualified will be hired soon...
Week 2 Haiku
in The Stadium Wall Archives
Posted
It's Friday morning and there's no Haiku yet - you can really tell it's going to be a down year. It's just not as much fun. So, I'll start the ball rolling:
Here we go again
We play well against good teams
The score will be close
