  1. Stop being gay, That hit wouldn't get a second thought on a receiver or back and it was not excessive nor did their QB get hurt.

You do nothing for your argument by name calling, so stop it.

Just because the guy wasn't hurt doesn't mean it's not a bad play. Picking a guy off of his feet and then slamming him into the ground is a penalty. That's why it was called. Get over it. The players have been told this.

  2. Picking the guy up and slamming him into the ground isn't the proper tackling technique. I am fine with physical play, but that's NOT how you bring a guy down. Not in todays NFL. You can still be physical and make big hits, just don't treat it like WWE wrestling.

  3. They do.....

That's weird. After I launch a game in full screen, after about 5 seconds the menu interface disappears leaving me the game in all of it's glory. Then again, it's not the most thoroughly tested application and seems to have different behavior in different browsers.

  4. What happened to Smith being our #3 QB on the roster? It was widely accepted, given the new rule changes, that Smith was our #3 so we wouldn't have to burn a WR spot on him. If so, there's no room for Levi, so why play him? He's already adequate for PS.

I'm just wondering if they don't want him to be listed as the #3 QB since he's learning part of 3 different positions. Perhaps he's not as prepared to run the main offense as a QB yet. It's possible that he is listed as a WR until he can run the offense as a full time QB. He didn't see much time running the main offense in the preseason game. If he was meant to be the #3 QB I'd like to see more reps under center.

Again, I'm just trying to rationalize what Chan and co. are doing. No idea if I'm anywhere near 'the mark.'

  5. I thought he got burned a couple times during that game, but CB is usually hard for a rookie early on. They are not used to the speed and routes of NFL receivers yet. He had some good plays too. The int was nice, it showed him using his size.

I liked the pick, but I won't say that he was the best or has more upside than Dareus...That guy could be a real difference maker for us.

In his first NFL game ever, I would recommend looking at what he did well more than what he did wrong. Of course he was going to make mistakes, but could he be a playmaker? Well, he did happen to make a big play. It shows what he can do. Just need to 'raise the floor' if you get my meaning.

  6. Ask Jets fans (or Jon Gruden, or a host of other people). He's a big loss for them.

Ochochinco? LOL! He's on his last legs and is in danger of being cut. Smith at least is still young. Poor example. And converting first downs is important, regardless of whether points are scored. Not that they showed even a fraction of what they'll end up doing with him.

As I said elsewhere, if the Bills use him sparingly like the Jets did, it's a luxury pick that still will help. However if they use him like I think they will, he's a big weapon.

He played a very big role already in the first preseason game. Three 3rd down rushes for 1st down is nothing to scoff at. We've only seen the most basic of plays from the Smith packages, and I'm more excited than I thought I'd be to see what they do with the guy. GO BILLS!

  7. When Jasper was fresh, he was pushing his guy back but couldn't disengage. When he was tired, he was pushed around like a bean bag.

I don't seem him being agile enough to be a blocker. He has a lot more work to do than I was blissfully hoping. Hope to see some progress next week. Particularly being able to get off of his blocker when he's fresh.

  8. He cant be any worse than Kelsay. If not for the Kelsay love fest he or Carrington or both could replace Kelsay at practice tomorrow and improve our D.

From what I hear, Kelsay is always in exactly the right place to redirect the play towards other players on the defense.

I saw Batten was in on some sacks, but didn't pay much attention to him in the run game. I'll keep an eye on him in my second watch through.

  9. his nickname has been "big shadow mike" since college.

    It's also his twitter handle.

He looked good out there when he was rested, but as that one long drive went along he definitely wore down. One play in particular I remember him getting pushed about 5 yards back into the end zone. However, there were multiple plays when he just walked his blocker into the backfield. I'd like to see him use those massive arms of his to clobber some linemen.

  10. He made a great play on the INT for sure, but he got beat a couple times and he missed a couple tackles. I thought he had a very erratic start but he looks like a player. He definitely has a good CB's mentality and didn't get down on himself when he made a few bad plays but he made more bad plays than good ones, IMO. I like him though, and think we are set with Florence and McGee and McLovin' and A Williams.

I was actually happy to see that he was able to bounce back and make a BIG play right after getting beat. Red zone, made a great play to deflect it and an athletic one to catch it. You need that in a CB. Next step is consistency. Go Bills!

You guys r lucky u got 2 c da game cuz u probably live in buffalo... im a bills fan frum queenz ny it's alwayz dissappointing 2 lose a game but frum wat i saw in da highlights on buffalobills.com da defense iz gunna b sumthing 2 keep a eye on or should i say sumthing u cant take your eye off this year... Go bills man...

Welcome! Have you thought of getting the nfl preseason package at preseason.nfl.com? It's $20 for the 4 preseason weeks, every game. If it is not being aired in your area, they make a live feed available online.

In the preseason, the score doesn't matter. What is important is for the coaches to see guys in different situations and see how they do. They're looking to try to fill out the roster. That being said, you want your offense to score. Only coming away with 3 is disappointing and shows that offense has a lot of work to do.

  11. As much as we say Maybin sucks, guess who drafted him with their first pick? It's not Maybins fault really. The Bills front office sucks, not Maybin get over it. The Bills sucked on that pick. Maybins probaly laughing, he knows he sucks, it's taken the Bills three years to figure it out.

Regardless of where he picked, he shouldn't be on the roster. The fact that he was a first rounder makes it that much worse. Don't act like the Bills were the only team who thought he was a first round talent. If you recall, several 'draft experts' thought he was a first round talent as well.

  12. We couldn't do this with Evans on the team?

Lee was a completely different situation.

WR is considered a strong position on the team. NT has a 2nd year guy and a 7th rnd prospect behind Kyle. Kyle was in the pro bowl last year while Lee wasn't considered a top 50 WR. Lee is considered to be on the wrong side of 30. Kyle is 28. Kyle has been improving year after year. Lee has been trending downward in his productivity. By the time this team is ready to compete for the playoffs, Kyle will be an integral part of that plan while Lee was seemingly having problems finding a place in Chans offense. Kyle deserves more money and Lee is getting an opportunity to play for a contender now while he has something left. While that may not have been the objective of moving him, it certainly is the result.

    EDIT: Misread your comment :wallbash:

Yes it could have been done with Lee still on the roster.

  13. There was an article out with quotes from the equipment manager not that long ago. (1)They didn't really "ask" Reed if Evans could use 83, but pretty much told him and he didn't have a problem with it. The NFL kinda frowns against retiring numbers, and with the Bills the only number actually retired is #12, altough 34, 32, 78 and a few others will probably never be used again except in training camp where those players normally won't be around come opening day anyway. (2)If you put Evans on the other side of the line from Fitzgerald in Arizona, he would dwarf the numbers Johnson put up last year, and benefit from the other guy getting the double teams like Johnson did last year with Evans getting doubled up all the time.

(1)Thanks for the clarification. Reed is still a classy guy. HOF 2012!

(2)This is a new year for Lee if Buffalo. I like what I've heard about the receivers in camp so far (very excited to see them in action on Saturday!) and hopefully running more 3-5 wide sets will give Lee some more space to get open. The productivity Stevie had last year along with the apparent development of a lot of those young receivers may be the talent pool that finally pulls guys away from Lee. Go Bills!

  14. Yes, we do still need Lee Evans. Just look at how Stevie's stats drop off when Lee wasn't on the field.

In the first 13 games with Lee, Stevie averaged 5.08 catches per game, 67.23 yards per game. (66 rec, 874 yds)

In the last 3 games without Lee, Stevie averaged 5.33 catches per game, 66.33 yards per game. (16 rec, 199 yds)

The most notable difference in Stevies performance when Lee was out, was the average td's a game.

    With Lee .69 td/gm

    Without Lee .33 td/gm

However, this drop in TD production may also be because Fitz wasn't throwing the Ball in the final game.

Without Fitz Stevie didn't have a TD in any of the 3 games (0%)

With Fitz Stevie got at least 1 TD in 7 of 13 games (53.8% of the games).

Those are just the stats and as always don't tell the whole story. Interpret them how you will. I DO think Lee has a valuable role in the offense and would be sad to see him go. He's been one of the better players for the Bills since he got here.

  15. It's not a 24 hour delay. You have to wait till midnight before the Sunday games come available to view. Not sure about Thursday night games, etc. Video quality is decent, but not great. Definitely worth the $39.99 to $49.99 they charge for it.

Good to know. I wouldn't typically check until I got home from work the next day. It's 39.99 right now, 29.99 if you order the preseason package (at least that's the offer I have).
