  1. That really overstates my position. My point has no direct connection to whether we think Buddy is doing a good job. We don't know yet if Buddy's plan is going to work, or if it's even smart.

My point is I am sick of people bringing up points that fly in the face of the evidence and are otherwise irrelevent to argue/imply that he sucks/Ralph is cheap/noone wants to live in Buffalo... blah blah blah.

I'm tired of everyone saying they won't sign anyone when OBD is making it so clear they fully intend to.

What they've done in the past as far as pursuing FA is irrelevent since they already admit they don't usually (and won't much in the future). They're saying they see this year differently. I've never heard Nix say that before - so what's the argument for disputing him?

As for the financial side - you'd really have to think Nix is beyond stupid to think he's talking publicly about spending money he hasn't already discussed with Littman and Wilson. I'm sure they give him a budget. I'm also sure Nix already knows what that budget is - so again, why would he overstate their position now? Add Chris Brown to that list. They aren't so stupid they don't know they are raising expectations with their talk.

As for Williams @$100M - yeah - DE is tough this year. I'd be happy enough with a next-level guy at DE simply because I don't think there's anyone out there better and the prices will be even more inflated than usual.

If you read Brown's blog today after the SJ signing - he closed it by yet again reminding us that OBD is targeting adding ANOTHER WR. Maybe they'll do it - maybe not - but what's the logical case for arguing they aren't serious when the whole team has been repeating it since January?

Here is an article from a couple years ago in regards to Buddy Nix and free agency. http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/11820/nix-wasnt-afraid-to-snooze-on-free-agency

Here is an article from this year in regards to Buddy and free agency. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/02/buddy-nix-well-be-aggressive-for-a-difference-maker-in-free-agency/

Before he said we wouldn't be major players in FA and we weren't. Why say we will be big players now and then not do it? He's been true to his word and I expect more of the same.

  2. 1. The Bills owe the fans. They need to resign talent instead of letting it walk, and whether or not you like it Steve Johnson is a talent.

    2. He was playing on discount the last couple of seasons. It's time for the dude to be paid he's worth. We're talking about 8-9mil a year.

    3. Signing Johnson doesn't mean we can't spend money elsewhere, and I don't know where you're getting that from. We have plenty of cap room and Buddy has implied the will to spend.

    4. This isn't Denver. We need WR's for our offense, and we want good WR's in those positions. Letting Johnson go creates another hole at a position where we already need help.

VJ is good even when unmotivated, and he has been unhappy in SD. Bowe has been a very good receiver in KC for a number of years now. The one you like is Desean Jackson? The guy has big play ability but is a drama queen. If you want to make the TO personality comparison, making it with Desean is much more accurate than with Stevie. (Stevie to Ochocinco may be a good comparison though).

  3. old adage ( or so :D )

if you dont score you cant win

if they dont score you cant lose

thing is, you need to sell out to one idea. and live with the results.

i was always in favor of a terr(or)ific defense

    but thats just me

If the rules were more balanced between offense and defense I would agree with you 100%. The problem is rules continue to be put in place that limit what defenders can do to so that a more interesting product is put on the field.

  4. The worst thing about Tebow is the following of fans that he had that didn't support their team until he was put into the game. What I saw from their last game was pathetic. Booing Orton on every incomplete was not only ridiculous, but had a negative effect on the entire team. Those who have played football know how the crowd gets you going. That's why there is an advantage when you're the home team. I'll give you that Orton was looking like crap that game, but even when Tebow was fumbling snaps and completing 40% of his passes, they were still blindly cheering.

Shame on you Denver fans. I only root against Tebow for your pain.

  5. There are three other teams in our division and then 12 more in the conference. Odds are ties will be out of the division and you conveniently ignored that there will be no common NFC games in that scenario rendering it a mute point in more than 75% of ties.

Look, it is no big deal really, it is what it is. There is no reason for people in denial or upset to ignore facts. As wins go, the Eagles win is a bad one.

If you get a choice, you should choose Division wins and then Conference wins. There isn't much to argue on that. However, there is also reality where you don't get to choose your wins. A win to Philadelphia doesn't guarantee a loss to an AFC team later, just as a loss to Philadelphia doesn't guarantee an AFC win later on.

    AFC win > NFC win

    NFC win > loss

  6. They have 2 sacks, Brad Smith has a 'sack'.

This group has been downright fantastic though. It's amazing given the way they looked in pre-season and I give a lot of credit to their coaches and Chan for ensuring they are in a position to succeed and not expected to go into areas they won't.

Where are you seeing that stat?

    http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011092502/2011/REG3/patriots@bills#menu=highlights&tab=analyze

or is it from a previous week?

    Raiders http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011091801/2011/REG2/raiders@bills#menu=highlights&tab=analyze

  7. Seriously. I'm trying to think of the logic here. I'll admit, the Raiders are showing signs of promise. I think they may just prove to be the best in their division. But I just can't understand how you can say "Well I like these guys, but I don't know about the guys who beat them along with one of the best teams in the league"

When driven by logic, it is difficult. When driven by douchebaggery, it's quite simple.

  8. To be fair, while it is true that most of the prognosticators picked the Chiefs (Warren Sapp, Jamie Dukes & Bill Cowher are the only I know to pick the Bills), I didn't really see/hear anybody predict that KC would "crush" the Bills...just beat them.

Not that it's worth much, but I believe the Bleacher Report preditced 42-7 Chiefs if Cassel played. I would find a link, but that would require me to go to Bleacher Report.

  9. And just a little over a week ago, there was much angst and gnashing of teeth over the prospect McGee might be cut outright. It's a shame we couldn't have fleeced the Giants for a draft pick or something before the inevitable occurred.

Feel bad for McGee, but yet another leg injury is a horrible sign.

Justin Rogers off the PS this week?

Rogers is on the roster, just wasn't active last game.

We could see Reggie Corner back in a Bills uniform soon.

  10. The first 20+ yard run occurred with :55 left in the 1st, Bills 20 Chiefs 0.

They drew us over to the strong side with motions before the snap, leaving 1 WR on the weak side. Ran it weak side and got good blocking.

I do find the 6ypc stat itself worrisome. I don't think we can expect our offense to put on the show that it did on Sunday each week. We'll have to see next week against Oakland, who also has a very good running team. If we can't make them throw, 6ypc will kill.

  11. I hope to see the WR's and RB's being moved around a lot presnap. Our offense needs to find mismatches in the passing game. Motion CJ or Freddy out of the backfield, get them lined up against a linebacker with space and let them do their thing.
