  1. At this point, I'll get scapegoated, but I believe we should go get Belichick. Otherwise we're going to have to keep trying to go through teams like the Chiefs and Bengals, and McD can't outsmart Andy Reid. He's not going to make up the gap of experience.  Josh deserves a coach that's going to take him to another level, and we do too.

What reporter was it who wrote about being called into a 1:1 session with Marrone, at the cargo terminal or wherever it is that the Bills depart from just before their plane took off for an away game?  He described it as being mafioso-like where Marrone had two PR guys flanking him, standing - just a really weird story

    *rummage rummage*

OK I found it. The story ran in 2016, it happened in 2013.  The reporter was Tim Graham.

    https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/marrone-week-the-full-story-of-doug-marrone-interrogating-a-reporter-at-an-airport-over/article_1fe2d3f4-931d-5002-8acc-a64cf1214680.html

Scott Berchtold sits down behind Graham, so he's being sandwiched between Marrone and communications director, both wearing suits.

It turns out this is about stuff Graham tweeted, saying that Marrone will say things for effect (implying he's a liar).  But Marrone is taking time to set up a meeting with him before a game - when you would think his priority might be thinking about the opponent and the game, not interrogating a reporter about something he tweeted.

Many of us here have exposure to and opinions about Tim Graham and his style of tweeting, but the whole story was Super Weird.

    That's super awkward. Geez!

  3. I don't listen to Eric Wood's podcast much, but I caught the most recent episode he had with Ryan Fitzpatrick, and they shared some old Doug Marrone stories, talked about how much of ***** he was. Wood said he was growing his hair out once and Marrone told him he looked like an idiot and to get it cut. Fitz also talked about his one meeting with Marrone in Buffalo right before he got cut. Said Marrone was hyping him up talking about how excited they were Fitz was already in Buffalo. Fitz said he never spoke to him again after that but did bump into him in an elevator this year. Wood shared another story about how after the loss to the Jaguars in the playoffs Marrone came up to him saying he would contact him about something they had never discussed before. Just seems to be a pattern of awkward encounters with Marrone every where.

  4. Snow shoveling has become a sensitive topic in the last few weeks among fans. I saw someone tweet it's 2024 and we're still asking fans to shovel snow, can't we do something better? Couldn't they tarp over the seats like they do the field? Geometrically and strategically, wouldn't that save shoveling snow by funneling all the snow down towards the field, and then you can just loader that snow through the tunnel and somewhere in the parking lot?

On another note, this could be a good sign the team is too focused on football at this time.

This girl was as authentic in her claims as Jussie Smolet was in his attack and George Santos was on his resume.

I don't think she was leading the charge on that lawsuit. It was her dumb lawyer. Why on earth did she not go with a proven lawyer in those cases, like Gloria Allred? I wonder if Gloria turned down the case and that's why the accuser had a lame attorney. The guy was an imbecile and loose cannon, he saw Matt Araiza, the NFL, and the "Punt God" nickname and saw what he thought was a landmark opportunity. The problem for him is him being an imbecile and loose cannon, he ruined any strategic opportunity for her. Once the Bills cut Araiza, the best he was going to get was Araiza's signing bonus of $50k. It was also so crazy how quickly the local Bills beat went from giving that guy the spotlight to screening him out like he never existed in just 48 hours.

The girl was a kid, so I don't think it makes sense to compare her to Santos or Smollet. Compare her attorney to them though, that does make sense.

take the website you'd like to use and copy and paste the URL in their box to unpaywall.
once there it should take you through the removed paywall options to navigate an entire website.

another is using an internet wayback machine or website archive site. those copy websites daily, essentially. that copy of the website will not include any of the paywall infastructure.

for those that think i have an axe to grind with newspaper. i do. i most certainly do. big newspaper crushed small town paper and ruined local news. beyond that, while almost every other media source in the world adapted with twitter and the internet - the newspaper publishers almost refused to do so and sunk money into trying to limit the internet instead of develop it as a tool for them. they lost billions and now it's too late so they put paywalls on articles. meanwhile, if you want a story just click on a tv networks news coverage for free - tv adapted to the internet (albeit not in a very timely manner).

Anytime Tim Graham starts getting preachy about journalism I remind him about his boss:

“We will wait out every local paper out and let them continuously bleed until we are the last ones standing" - Tim Graham's boss

In your opinion he was the greatest.

I think he was the greatest too, but I get what you're saying, he would only get to the line of scrimmage or 1 or 2 yards on a lot of plays, then he'd hit a big run and it would be mind blowing. He was also a scat back in a main RB role and over-performed, and very entertaining to watch even as a kid. I had a his rookie card certain he'd break Walter Payton's record, only for that to go down to Emmitt Smith because he played 6 years past his prime. The way Barry carried himself and left the game, I think left everyone wanting more.
