  1. Even if the replays weren't comically obscured, I'd just give it to them anyway because of the piss-poor tackling on the runback.
  2. I agree that to make the HOF as a ST you have to be "other-worldly," but I don't think the people dissing Tasker on this basis really saw him play. He was all that and more. Covering kicks, he stopped the likes of Deion Sanders, Tim Brown, Tamarick Vanover and Vernon Turner in their tracks. He blocked kicks, and on big stages too. He could return kicks with the best of them when he had the chance. Kelly repeatedly lobbied to have him in the game on offense because, he said, he was their best receiver....and I remember one play where he scored a TD to beat Kansas City in a game we had to have, on a pattern that Kelly literally drew up in the dirt in the huddle. He changed games. He changed THE game, as people have pointed out. He was on the NFL's 75th anniversary all-time team. The only way you can argue for his exclusion is to say that STs should never under ANY circumstances be in the Hall. If you believe otherwise, then he belongs.
  3. Man...you were younger then than I am now. That WAS a long time ago.
  4. You think it's about Tebow? I think it has a lot more to do with Sanchez sucking and Jets fans in general being !@#$s than it has to do with Tim Tebow. I don't think it takes much imagination to guess what he's had to hear from the fans and on Twitter, as vocal a backer of Sanchez as he's been (and remember, Sanchez's dad is a retired fireman too). That said... I agree. He reveled in the attention for decades when it was good. Now that it's turned sour, he wants out. I'd say he's the perfect guy to be the face of Jets fandom.
  5. It's times like these that I actually miss Chuck Dickerson.
  6. That I certainly cannot imagine. I was shocked to read that Ed is only 53. How long has he been doing this shtick? Got to be at LEAST twenty years. Dumbest thing Ed did (well, other than that stupid chant) was switching to a Sanchez jersey. That sank him.
  7. Fireman Ed hangs up his helmet. I don't blame him.
  8. I too was 30 and had a baby daughter, though she was almost six months old at the time. Now she's in eighth grade, had her first formal dance last month, and will be driving in less than three years. Three years and a week to the day later, my son was born. He too is a rabid Bills fan, for which I have apologized to him more than once. In seven weeks he will be ten years old. When I was eleven, the Bills went 11-5 and made the playoffs. 1980 was like magic to me. I doubt 2014 will be that way for him. That game was also five jobs ago for me. We've had four presidential elections since then. Jesus.
  9. This. It's not kind of dumb. It's monumentally, hubristically stupid. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving team or coach.
  10. If these thoughts are in no particular order, why are the Dead lyrics always #7? Great post as always. Your post and TMQ are the two football analyses I wait for each week.
  11. I was fully prepared for that.
  12. Ok now I guess it has to be Spiller, Chan.
  13. His knee was down anyway
  14. Are you !@#$ing kidding me
  15. Are they even reviewing?
  16. That's a goddamn catch
  17. You know if we blow this and turn it over here, Marcia will try for six instead of running the clock out.
  18. Clearly we had a plan for this. Right?
  19. Would have been the worst possible outcome.
  20. This would be epic if we had a two-minute offense.
