  1. I haven't found a good place in Ithaca to eat beef on weck, so I might go to the store today and get the fixings. I'm not a master chef like some of the sandwich guys in Buffalo, but I know how to apply enough horseradish to clear my sinuses for a week...that's what really counts.
  2. I didn't know you were a Bills fan, Jared!
  3. Just a matter of personal taste obviously, but Miracle Whip is one of the most unfortunate things to ever happen to food IMO. I love egg salad, but it's gotta be mayo. Never heard of putting cheese on it though, that's interesting.
  4. Fair enough, I suppose. But I guess I just never understood hating on a guy for playing on the opposing team. Hating on the team itself, well that's what rivalry is all about. But not the individual players or coaches if they don't deserve it. Duncan is truly one of the good guys in modern athletics.
  5. How do you hate Duncan? He's gotta be the most inoffensive guy in all of sports. Boring as hell sure, but I don't get how anybody could hate the guy.
  6. Alright...being men (most of us), there aren't too many simple pleasures in the world better than a nice sandwich. So what's your favorite? Here's what I like... 2 slices white bread with sesame seeds 3 slices turkey breast (fresh is best, but I'm a fan of Butterball naturally roasted if it has to be from a deli counter) slather it with spicy brown mustard (and I mean SLATHER it, you can't have too much mustard imo) add 6 or 7 green olives on top after the mustard And there you have it. So who wants to top it? Maybe we'll all give each other ideas.
  7. Magic is truly one of the best players of all time. But he got a ton of help from his teammates, in terms of the championships. A lot of help indeed. One might say he had...aides?
  8. I know it's rare that one of the auto bid teams goes anywhere, but the George Mason run to the Final Four was one of the best sports stories of the decade. Just sayin. Also, I enjoy the sense of egalitarianism that goes along with the conference tournaments, then the NCAA tournament. No matter how small or seemingly insignificant your team is, if they keep winning they keep playing. I think that's sorta cool.
  9. I do too, but it's most important to me when I need a little catharsis.
  10. How about Bill Russell? 11 championships. Just think about that for a second. 11. Plus, the greatest defensive player to ever live. When most people talk greatest ever, they only think of offense (which Russell had by the bushel) but 50% of the game is preventing the other team from scoring.
  11. Depends what mood you're in. I voted Nevermind because I tend to seek out music more when I'm feeling down.
  12. She contends that her name is a moniker on par with Oprah and Madonna? Seriously? Not only is she about 5% as culturally significant as either of these women...Oprah and Madonna are one-name monikers because nobody else is named Oprah or Madonna. I personally know about 10 other Lindsays.
  13. Good for him. I still insist that backup QB in the NFL is the best job in the world, but good for him.
  14. If he wanted to tank this season, why fire Jauron last season?
  15. If you're a secret agent, everybody is allowed to shoot at you but nobody is allowed to hit you. You're allowed to shoot at all the bad guys with stellar aim, but when it comes to hitting the MAIN bad guy at close range, suddenly you can't hit the broad side of a barn. The main bad guy is, on the other hand, allowed to CAPTURE you ONCE. But when he does, he isn't allowed to shoot you. He's only allowed to leave you with one of his bumbling henchmen, or another option is simply holding a gun to your temple but NEVER squeezing the trigger even as you develop a complex and risky means for escape.
  16. RIP To your credit, your heroes entertainment-wise seem to be true artists and not corporate shills. Problem is, most true artists tend to run a bit crazy and at some point crazy just don't stand crazy.
  17. It wasn't a nice thing to say. But how'd you feel if people were talking smack about you for trying to do a decent thing?
  18. Pete and Pete is going to be one of the greatest pieces of entertainment that will be unfortunately lost to history. For whatever reason, it doesn't have much staying power in the minds of the masses.
  19. I'll take perceived irrelevance if it means we're getting better over the long run. Trying to sign players just for the sake of making moves would be an unfortunate throwback to the Donahoe era. This is one of the weakest FA classes I can ever remember. Especially with the high potential of no football in 2011, I'm perfectly happy with trying to draft a winning team.
  20. That's his ethnicity, not his race. I believe that Ernie Els is a dual citizen in South Africa and the US. So he's 100% African American. Does that make him more black than Tiger?
  21. I don't doubt that. But my point was that you shouldn't paint the entire American sports media with such a broad stroke if your primary exposure to said media is ESPN. Based on the names you gave, that would seem to be the case. It'd be like condemning all journalists by watching MSNBC and Fox News.
  22. No, but it's ESPN which is inching closer and closer to TMZ by the day. Did you watch yesterday? A full slate of basketball and hockey games, and all that "the worldwide leader in sports" could manage to talk about was Brett Favre making a meaningless comment on Jay Leno. Oh and there was quite a bit on "bracketology". I really gotta stop watching that ish.
  23. that's an unfair assessment of the game sometimes you have to go straight too!
  24. If we draft a QB, I highly doubt he will be ready to start Week 1. During this waiting period...that might be Edwards' last chance to show the team something. Other than that, the guy's had his chance. Average arm, gun-shy, injury prone...not the type of QB that can take you very far without an elite squad around him.
